    11st 2lb this morning.

Pushed my weight up to 11st 7 on Saturday night but that was heavy carb eating for a day or two.

    heavy carb

What are they, like Chunky kit kat ?, or something.
    😆

Actually, I see your association with weight gain and carbs, there.
But isn’t it more like the types of carbohydrate, you know, the Glycemic load, etc, which will dictate the effectiveness they have on increasing your body weight ?.

weight gain pre-event is water, 4g stored with each g of glycogen loaded

    TheSouthernYeti

So I’d loaded in an additional 400g of glycogen approx.

Oh and Solo I mean heavy as in I was eating a lot of it, not the type of carbs itself.

iDiet meals followed by porridge and chocolate. Then some more chocolate. Then some bread, how could I forget the bread.

I’ve been on holiday for 10 days and have 18 pages to catch up on!

I have come back from Majorca with a 4 a day espresso and cake addiction, along with queen of the mountains for every ride, including a 12km climb! Are you worried Mol? 😛

Worried? Yes. I am on a business trip in Madrid, I’m knackered and there is no iDiet food available. Playing football tonight though, I might have to show an inappropriate level of commitment to get a decent workout.

Does anyone else see their weight go up and down on a weekly cycle?

I’ll fluctuate during the week but generally I’ll have lost weight by the end of the week. I’ve seen me put on 10lbs after a cheat day then lose it within a day or two. Similarly I can be 5lbs heavier in the evening vs my weight that morning though it’s gone again by the next morning after I’ve “evacuated”

    Rubbish!
    Fabada.
    Cocido Madrileño
    I think chorizo is Spanish.
Supermarkets have aisles devoted to lentils (lentejas), chickpeas (garbanzos) and beans (alubias).

It is difficult to find though, I believe they have different words for practically everything.

Surely, if one speaks slowly and points they will understand? Just rudeness if you ask me.

Its probably a business trip, and so unlikely that MolGrips has cooking facilities.

Don’t forget to add an ‘O’ at the end of any English word you speak to the locals.
    That’ll sort it.

Yes, I am queen now 😆

Weather wasn’t the best but got out 8 of the 10 days we were away for. After complaining to Mustard before we went that i’d lost my climbing ability, it returned out of the blue which was good as on a few days we did 2,400m of ascent! Was loving climbing well again, was second or third up to the top with the fast blokes every ride which was ace. Highlight was climbing to Lluc, descending 12km to Sa Calobra at sea level and turning round and coming straight back up again!

Lovely riding out there, and ace espresso and cakes. Think i’d better weigh myself tomorrow morning though…

good work DGOAB. I remember climbing Lluc. Don’t suppose you managed to get out on any spanish club runs?

taljking of training.. I had a character building ride last night. Went out on the weekly chain gang ride in brizzle. Rode like a maniac to get tot he start as i was late. Heavens opened about 20 miles into the ride. Rode back with 5 others and blew on a climb. Spent the next 5 miles trying to get back on. Couldn’t feel my feet or hands all the way home!

I was going to ask about the descents.
How satisfied are you with your high speed road.

I loved the Lluc climb Tricky, it was the perfect gradient for me to attack on. If i could find a race here with a climb like that in it, then i’d be laughing! After the Lluc climb, me and another girl were sitting on the front doing 40kph on the flat chasing down a girl in front of us. No spanish clubs runs sadly, didn’t see many from where we were staying, just tourists. Not enough speed work though so will be ditching the miles and back to intervals and speedwork. Think we might try to go out next year with the guy you were with.

What doesn’t kill you will make you stronger Tricky! Looks like our summer was that week in March as i’m back to commuting in winter gear!

Solo, I was descending well, i have got over previous fears and was hanging onto the back of mustard/the blokes on descents. Have now got a good sprint when on the drops too so can still kick if i need extra speed. Generally very happy with how i was descending, seems racing crits with sprints of up to 50kph have really helped my confidence descending. 😀 Why?

    Why?

Well, its just part of the deal, innit.

Climbing is hard work and can be challenging.

But, making it pay, means being good at speed on the descent.
Just another string to your bow, if you can get good at it.
    Handling skills and all that.
    😀

I saw this and thought it appropriate given recent discussion:

There is obviously lots of iDiet foodin Madrid, but I am in a hotel working until 7pm then required to be socialising, I don’t think I have time to do a weekly shop and get out the camping stove. Plus I only had a couple of weeks notice, not really enough time to learn Spanish even for someone as awesome as me.
