I aint telling you what makes you fat.
You mentioned bread and milk like you think they’re an issue ?.
Anyway, in light of your most recent pronouncement…

    I’m fat and happy.

Are you? Really? Ask yourself if you’re really happy. Isn’t it just a case of a thin person living in the body of a fat person and you’re just trying to kid yourself? You’re not kidding me…

    milk is every morning
    bread, well thats
    probably about 8 slices per

    week!

i figure if i keep breaking
    the iDave rules

then when i reach my target
    of making every
single woman in the UK pregnant
just by being alive, i can

start to treat myself again and the weight wont
come piling back on, i hope

    Nice posting format, stylish….
    😉

    As for that ^^^^

Well, I’d say all thanks to one Mr iDave.
A little knowledge may have served us all, well.
    😀

    EDIT:

    hardly worth bothering with then….

Well, I’ve finally managed to kinda get the iDave to work for me, but I’ve basically had to start some pretty robust calorie restriction in order to lose any weight. Drinking plenty of water, running, riding, being gosh darn strict on the no simple carbs. Ho Hum.

TBF my traditional ‘lay off the cake and beer and ride loads’ strategy was much less of a hassle and I was marginally less grumpy about it too.

    How heavy are you ?.

87kg, down from 92kg after 6 weeks of iDaving. That does include a 4-week lull in which diddly squat happened. I dunno if I was putting muscle mass back on or there were some water retention issues. We’ll see.

Well I did the first day of C25k today and it was ok, right knee and hip feel a bit achey. Certainly feels like a better workout than 20 minutes of cycling.

If you must… say it aches a bit.

    Please excuse my ignorance.
But what have you done instead of ride a bike ?.

87kg, down from 92kg after 6 weeks of iDaving
    I’d call that a result.
So what is the issue with iDave diet ?.

So what is the issue with iDave diet ?.

The issue is that stringent observance should result in around 2kg loss per week, not nil loss. Its also not supposed to require calorie restriction or high activity levels. Only for me, it seems to need both …

I have often wondered if I am a sub-clinical diabetic or something, based on my bodies occassionally odd responses to being fed. This would account for the iDave ineffectitude as my body won’t react normally to low GI tactics. Not sure I want to open that pandora’s box just yet.

    ADH.

Well, if it helps, and at the risk of being stomped by iDave.
I’d suggest that the 2Kg in a week, would be the early stages.
As body weight reduces, the propensity to shed more, tapers, ime.
Until we hit about 12-15 percent BF.

Just what is a typical ADH eating day ?, and what does the day off look like ?.

some people lose 2kg a week, some 4, some 1, some none, but all lose over time until they settle around 12-15% BF

Are we just talking about…. Running **shudders**

Is Tom just saying he went for a run instead of riding his bike ?.

Cheers iDave, I’ll keep soldiering on and see how things pan out.

Solo, given when I was racing a fair amount 10 years ago I was 70kg, I’d say I have a way to go yet before the taper should kick in!

The day off isn’t mad, just some bread, milk, fruit and cake. Maybe a beer or two. The stuff I miss.

Typical day, well in the lull period I was having:

brekkie: scrambled egg, 2×100% meat chipolatas or lean bacon
lunch: undressed salad or leftovers or home-made hummus and gram-flour flatbreads
tea: something iDave compliant, made in huge quantities, with huge piles of beans, lentils and veg in order to try and stop me feeling the need for sweet things (those this NEVER works, even if I eat so much I feel sick).

Now I’ve cut out brekkie as I never used to bother with it, and I’m restricting portion size to about 70% RDA based on some back-of-fag-packet calcs I’ve done.

    Sunday day-off: cereal and milk/long road ride/burger/cherry cake/lamb curry & rice.

Yesterday: black coffee&water/leftover homemade dhal and butter beans/stir-fry veg and oven-baked salmon

Today: black coffee&water/tomatos, coleslaw and hummus/TBC lump of lean meat and huge stack of veg.

😀 Sorry TSY. Yes I went for a run instead of riding my bike because I get a bit bored of road after a while. And my roadie mate said that running helped him out for stamina on the road bike, so I thought I’d try it.

Thanks for explaining that, I was genuinely at a loss for what C25K meant.

Hey, if running works for you, you can do my share too.

I’d be interested in what iDave says about the mega hungry iDieter.
Cos it sounds like you are / was putting a fair bit away.

    The stuff I miss

    Just trying to help here.

But one of my favs was cheese.
I love/d small cheese cubes with a glass or two of red.
But I could do 50g of cheese in a sitting.
    😯

    I really, liked cheese.
Same with Chocolate, again, I could demolish a fair bit of the worlds supply.

Now, having served a longer tour of iduty than you, so far.
I can honestly say I’ve kicked cheese into the long grass.
I really do not miss it.

    What I’m suggesting is that.
Given time, more than your 6 weeks so far.
You may not miss the things you currently have only on the off day, as much.

    Thats my experience.
So, keep on, it may get easier for you, it did for me.

Well, I hope so, always been a carb fiend so any increase in self control in that regard is going to help!

For me its more like an absence of any desire for those things, now.
very little, if any discipline needs to be exercised as its all become habit.

I genuinely do not miss cheese, bread, pasta or rice.
I am quite lactose intolerant, so had cut out milk anyway.
I still do chocolate, Green and Blacks 85 percent dark.
    Occassionally.

In the ole days, I hated dark chocolate.
But after reducing the sugar intake, my sensitiviety to sweet things, highetned, so now I can taste the sweetness in dark chocolate.

    Win ! 😀

Keep at it, you’ll get there, just like the rest of us.
    😉

Not sure if I’ll stick with the running yet as i didn’t really enjoy it much and i struggle to stick to exercise I’m not having fun doing! That being said i felt shattered at first so at the minute it seems like a challenge i want to conquer!

Day 1 of iDiet in the miketually household: I had bacon and fried eggs for breakfast and the Mrs had the same but with added mushrooms and tomatoes (and less bacon).

Dinner: I had a bag of preprepared carrot, cauliflower and broccoli which was steamed in the microwave, with sliced pepperoni and piri piri houmous(scavenging what was available in the nearby Sainsburys Local). The Mrs had a Subway salad box.

Tea: sausage, bacon, chorizo and three-bean casserole, topped with carrot, swede, parsnip and leek mash and then baked in the oven.

Though we now think the sausage might have been naughty. Maybe?

I definitely still miss the sweet stuff but not sos bad as I thought I would.

Still miss crisps to. I had a packet of cheese an onion the other week and it was soooo fine… 😳

Only had cheese & tattles once in a month, that’s a big step as I used to have baked tatties with cheese an beans oh twice a week sat least. No rice and no pasta.

Skipped breakfast today as I wasn’t hungry (well not until ~11.30) had tuna/butter bean salad for lunch, a handful of nuts before a 2.5 hour climbing wall session. Just had a couple of chick pea burger things (not a great success, won’t bother trying them again) and a pretty small portion of ratatouille bean stew that I’ve brewed up for tomorrows lunch (mmmm, tasting good!).

Had 4 mugs black coffee/americano and a black tea. Probably not enough water as I should have though.

Only about 4 mile walk today I’m afraid.

Only ~1 kg drop last week but I did kind go for it on my cheat day. I’m gonna exercise a bit more self control this weekend…

    I’m actually gaining weight.

Does anyone else see their weight go up and down on a weekly cycle? I do a big ride usually on a Sunday, Monday morning my weight spikes up by 1.5-2kg and then drops through the week until Saturday before leaping up again after exercise. The trend is downwards so I dont worry about it but does anyone know why that would be?

I’m 191cm, (6’3) have got down to about 85kg but year after year I never seem to be able to get lower than that. About 15% fat.

Nope, its just been going one way, UP !.

Was 78Kg about 6 weeks ago, now up to 82Kg.

    Properly confused, I am.

Not sure if it may be linked to my recent house move, when my entire life routine was disrupted.

Still, things are settling now, but still not sure how I’ve reached 82Kg.
