after a ride in a more usual place the bike goes ok, no trouble on the front wheel as i have feeled in a very bad weather conditions with a crossmark as a front tyre… so i’m rethinking about testing it with a 120 mm fork and a more gripy tyre in the front….. must be funnie… jeje

and if brant is looking at this… i think that a 44 mm headtube will be better for that bike than the tapered one, will be more elegant solution, and it allows to use a 1 5 fork with the same way and if anyone wants to use a 1 18 fork, or a rigid fork will be more balanced.. and sure is a cheaper and lighter solution… and of course.. 12*142 rear axle… jeje

Johnhighfield, I can measure at the top, that’s easy, but I need to measure 4″ down. I’ll pick up internal caliper when I’m in Bath tomorrow. I don’t get post slippage (I have a nice big clamp) just rocking. You don’t notice it when riding, it’s like you get on an adjustable post anyway.

Nice bike otherwise. Was it rushed? I think Waltly were working to a budget and OO/PX didn’t check enough. It’s what I’d expect from catalogue Chinese stuff. Not that this is but it’s what I’d expect, if you follow.

So yes, measuring 4″ down inside the seat tube with an internal calliper shows the diameter of the tube is 32.05mm. That’ll explain the rocking.

    Doesn’t sound good 🙁

I may have a measure of mine.

does brant still frequent this thread?

    wwaswas

actually, if it’s 32.05 how are you getting the seatpost down that far?

[edit] now it’s been quoted it’s too late. 😳 *whistles* Nothing to see here, move along. See I knew this on my first post and then my brain stopped working.

    What shim to fit a 31.6 post in a 30.9 frame? 😉

I’m fitting a reverb to mine… Anyone else done so without problems ?

TLR if you take the time to go through the first few pages of the thread your questions will be answered 😉

I fitted a KS Lev to mine – seems fine.

Well I’ve bought a salsa Allen clamp so hopefully it will support the reverb sufficiently….

First ride on Saturday hopefully !

Shimmed a 27.2 Thudbuster LT to 31.6 and using a Salsa QR with no issues of slipping or rocking….

Suspect the seat tube will play a bit more of a factor than the clamp?

I’m going to measure mine – more worried about long term effects of a seatpost that’s only held in place by the clamp on the frame. Will put some odd stresses through the seat tube.

I wouldn’t worry Luke, it’s not like ti frames have a history of cracking at the seat tube.

    Oh.

Well it’s warrantied and we have on one back up, nowt to worry about IMHO……

It was the dropout that went on my last Ti frame, actually 😉

    2yr warranty, FYI.

I popped a 31.8-27.2mm USE shim into my FLE this evening, with a liberal amount of Loctite 638. Seems not to rock, so a good solution if you can live with a 27.2mm post.

I can’t really live with a 27.2 so my next plan is to use a 31.6-30.9 shim with some extra backing between the frame and shim. Need to roll out some sheet to the right thickness, perhaps on Sunday.

    Happy days 🙂

Love it…. Fast, stable, feels like the 456 in that its so flickable but stable.

Copes brilliantly with everything ill use it for, delighted.

Running xtr 3×9 with 2.25 nobby nic no clearance issues and 31.6 reverb never slipped.

Oh, it weighed in at 25lbs too……never used the small ring today and thinking 1×11 is sensible… It’s so fast ! 😈

Took mine to Afan at the weekend – felt very stable and capable on the descents but was disappointed with its climbing abilities.. I think I need to lose some spacers and/or go back to a flat bar to bring the front end down a bit.

First time back in Wales on a HT.. had forgotten how much more it rattles your bones!

I’m thinking the same thing – I’ve got 140mm Revelations and think I’ll drop them to 120mm, poss with flat bars too.

5mm of spacer under 760mm Easton carbon havocs. Perfect for me…. May try the 5mm out……

Thanks guys for your pics and stories, you’ve made me a Fileline owner! Should be here tomorrow/Friday 🙂

Was wondering if I could use 27.2mm seatpost with the shim, but pistola has answered my doubts. Will fit Reba, Halo/DT Swiss wheels, Stylo OCT cranks and 8spd Sram 9.0sl mech/shifter/brake levers with BB7. Salsa carbon ProMoto on the way as well!

I’ve compared the geo with Banshee Paradox which was a really nice, nimble, chuckable bike that I’d keep if it wasn’t soo stiff and it seems like I’ve found the perfect bike! Can’t wait to build her up and share my pics and story…

running Revs at 140mm on mine and did find that a flat bar and slammed stem helped make it feel much less tall at the front.

I’ve been injured so not riding too hard off road but, for now, I’ll try astickign to 140mm and see how I get on.

one thing i noticed about mine on Saturday was just how much FUN it was – playful, great balance, well mannered on the steeps and drops and not slow to turn in with great front grip and feedback – well impressed. it was similar to my 456ti but FASTER 👿

So a 30.9-31.6 use shim with extra packing from a foil takeaway tray had a 30.9 post in and solid. Sorted (I hope, not riden it yet!). A minor hassle but worth it I think. Good fun bike.

Well, can’t wait to try mine out as well but it’s still at this stage:

Was pretty stoked when opened the box and found the decals and badge on, also the Juicy calliper fits pretty well! Might fit 650b for a ride or two, I guess the BB wont be too low?

As you say the_lecht_rocks, fast. Its odd how much quicker things are on the FLE. I rode some older trails last night that I’ve not ridden on the FLE before and the way it keeps speed over roots and through loam is just addictive. Only downside is Ias being held up by 26er friends 😉

Waiting for the Cane Creek headset – should be in tomorrow, there is a chance I will build it up with 650B wheels/fork to see how it rides as a sub-ner[/url]. 29er fork on the wish list and wheels in bits – probably will roll next week. CAN’T WAIT! 😡

    Hello everybody!
    here is matrix, from Italy.

I follow this tread since a long time and finally I can post some pictures of my FLE in almost final version:

As you can see, the weight settles on 25lb in size M, with Revelation RCT3 Solo Air 140mm.

At now, I rode it once with Reba Race 100m instead of Revelation and I have to say that this frame is awsome!

Tomorrow I hope to squeeze it well on the trails!

I’ll report my impression as soon as I will ride it. Tomorrow the weather forecast predicts rain :(… I hope to try the bike the same…
