    Forundred. 😐

So, youse what are giving up, youse are pretty much all ‘heavy’ smokers then.

Have you tried giving up before? And if so, why did those attempts fail?

Huws, my caffeine intake has reached epic proportions too!

    You cold turkey or NRT?

Good luck fella (be prepared not to poo for a while 😥 – Is this why ex-smokers put on weight??)

I used to smoke about 10 a day when I gave up, so not exactly a heavy smoker, but I was a regular, habitual smoker, i.e. light up first thing in the morning, smoking after meals and drinks, etc., the nabit was strong.

I probably tried to give up 20+ times. Not sure of the main reasons for failure – weed sometimes played a big part though.

This doesn’t bode well for the barrage of stupid questions I’m likely to get at work this afternoon

Elf, not overly (about 10 a day) but for the last 20 years, with a 2 year hiatus when I thought I’d actually kicked it. Unfortunately I fell off my bike and spent 2 weeks at home full to the brim with tramadol with no one to talk to but the man in the newsagents and my neighbours cats.

fenred, 16 hour patches. I keep finding myself absent mindedly rubbing the patch trying to squeeze more delicious nicotine out of it.

In case it helps anyone… I’ve just had a meeting with a colleague who smokes (at least) a pack a day, as I used to.

He smells like sh1t, I was gagging slightly.

Worst part is realising I used to stink like that.

Best part is realising I no longer do.

    TJ – i need a kiss 🙁

I have just, after 337 hours and 35 mins succumbed to a smoke.

    Work stress-related.

I felt good at the time, but now feel like a shell of a human. dissappointed with myself, feel guilty, told MsMorgs and got the ‘i’m dissappointed’ rather than the shouting and screaming (which is far worse as we all know) and now I need a rollicking by you lot.

Come on – no holds barred…..flame me to my very core.

I have already ripped off the shoulder boards of awesomeness

Oh no. You didn’t get the ‘D’ word? EEK! 😯

    *shudders*

Don’t worry about it. You’re still awesome. Just get back to the same mindset as you were a couple of hours ago. Nowts changed. I’m keeping going by thinking how much money I’ve not spent, and how these none-spent funds are to be re-directed 😀

    Satsuma?

Well I can’t protect you from TJ, morgs…

… but I can tell you what you probably already know – that one smoke does not take you back to square one. It’s a small setback, nothing more. You’re not addicted again already; the nicotine in your system is minimal. etc. etc.

So, forget about it, pucker up for TJ and start sewing those shoulder boards back on, dude!

As binners says, regain the mindset and off you go!

No flaming from me. Just a big man hug!

Morgs…. next time you can make it in excess of 500.

Greatness is achieved through adversity, through getting back up when you’ve been knocked down.

I started smoking again last Thursday week, precisely so I could be on hand to pick you up and help you at this point (well the temptation of some magic smoking substance might also have been a little too much) so let’s do this together.

    Yeti.

40 hrs and 44 mins smoke free.

Yeah course… I’m proving that you can fall off the wagon for a little while, get back on and act like nothing’s happened 🙂

    Smoking still sucks…

S’alright Ho Hum… this time I’ve taken the Mrs with me. Seems that smoking jsut before you get into bed is one way of making someone realise how bad it smells.

    I wouldn’t advise it though and I smoked <5 a day.

Morgs – see it as a set back not the end of your efforts. Have some nicontine replacement therapy to hand perhpas?

its a wicked addiction and the things it does to your head is just crazy the way yo can convince yourself that you deserve or need this one fag and its Ok.

So – take your punishment like a man and put it behind you

I can remember before (and almost did this last night) stopping at a garage not even thinking about smoking, filling up and driving off. A mile down the road I realised what I’d done…

‘sweet, I’m not actually addicted… so this means I can smoke tonight’

Then stopping at the next garage down the road 😀

It’s not going so well for me – a total of 4 yesterday and 4 (so far) today – but at least it’s a step in the right direction. There is hardly any baccy left, and I really don’t intend to buy any more.
Probably doesn’t help that I’m feeling pretty down at the moment, due to lack of money and long-term lack of a man.
