The Jeht is Cotic’s most recent suspension model, debuting in late 2020. Late 2023 brings in the next generation AKA the Cotic Jeht Gen 2.

Introduced as Cotic’s “goldilocks bike”, the Jeht was intended to offer a midground option between the brand’s bruiser bike (the wholly excellent Cotic RocketMAX) and its impressive Down-X-Country Cotic FlareMAX whippet.
The move has clearly paid off for Cotic as the Jeht is now its biggest selling full-suspension mountain bike model.
Keen Cotic watchers will not be surprised as to the nature of the changes inplemented to this new Gen 2 Jeht (surely there must be some sort of Jet2 themed marketing campaign potential here?!). The Jeht 2 bares the same sort of tweaks as have happened to the latest iterations of the aforementioned RocketMAX and FlareMAX framesets.
This means there’s not much in the way of geometry changes – Cotic was well ahead of the modern geo game anyway – apart from a modest increase in BB drop. The most obvious changes are the introduction of Cotic’s Reynold 853 “HD” down tube and the brace tube just above the BB junction.
Unsurprisingly, there is no thru-headset cable routing on the Cotic Jeht Gen 2. “Call us old fashioned, but we have stuck with tried and tested head tube routed fork steerer. We don’t believe that anything else should be routed through that bit of the frame.” Chapeau!
Whilst the goemetry hasn’t really changed, there have been some a-shufflings with the suspension layout. Essentially bigger frame sizes get a more progressive suspension rate. Progression is 22% for the C1, 28% for the C5. Anti-rise and anti-squat remain the same by the way.
C-what now? Cotic continue its move from unhelpful and outdated S, M, L, XL sizings to a system it calls C-Sizing. A total of five different C sizes reduces the reach jumps to under 20mm. Cotic says:”this means you will be less likely to drop ‘between’ sizes, and with shorter seat tubes you will be able to maximise your dropper post drop.”
Scores on the doors
Cotic: “A quick note on the Deluxe Select Plus: This is an OE only spec, which is a significant improvement in performance over the Select damper you see on a lot of budget builds. Between you and I, it’s not done any favours by keeping the “Select” in the name. The Select Plus is actually the Ultimate damper without all the adjusters. It’s significantly more sophisticated than the Select shocks, and we use the same internal LM tune as the Super Deluxe Ultimate we spec. It’s a great shock, with very little compromise compared to the higher end dampers we offer, particularly for our customers who are averse to twiddling dials.”
Bronze builds start at £4,225
“We have re-jigged the builds on the new Jeht, with the Bronze build coming at the entry point of the range, with SLX drivetrain and wheels, Deore brakes and Rockshox Revelation/Deluxe suspension. The Sage bike in the photos is a Bronze build.”
Silver builds start at £5,075
“We have tweaked the Silver build to keep the SLX drivetrain and Deore brakes, but it gets HUNT wheels, and Rockshox MY22 Pike Ultimate and Cane Creek Air IL shock. It’s the build that a lot of our bikes go out with, so we thought we would formalise the “Thinking riders’ build” of solid drivetrain and brakes with top end suspension and great wheels.”
Gold builds start at £5,575
“Gold builds are full XT or GX Eagle Mechanical with Cane Creek HELM/Air IL suspension, with Hope wheels joining a selection of other Hope parts to complete a sweet package. You get your choice of Hope colours. The Crimson bike in the photos is a Gold XT build with Rockshox Lyrik/Super Deluxe Ultimate, Hope V4 Brake and Hope stem upgrades which is £6,065 UK price.”
Platinum builds start at £6,999
“The Platinum build returns with wheels, brakes, cranks and full finishing kit from Hope, XTR drivetrain, Enduro Bearing bottom bracket, WTB tyres, Rockshox Ultimate or Cane Creek HELM/Air IL suspension.”
Works builds start at £7,999
“New at the top of the range is the Works build with all you could ever want: Wheels, brakes and full finishing kit from Hope, Cane Creek ti cranks, XTR shifting, Garbaruk cassette for the lightest 12spd drivetrain available, Enduro Bearing bottom bracket, WTB tyres, Fox Factory Float X and Lyrik Ultimate Suspension. No feels this time
We only had a modest muckabout in the woods on the new Cotic Jeht Gen 2. And it was on a C3 size demo bike, which with its 482mm reach wasn’t exactly petite but was still shorter than the 500mm+ that I typically ride. The main things I noted were how good the WTB Verdict tyre and Hope Tech 4 V4 brakes were.
Oh, and the Crimson paint is gert lush.
