Recommend me a merino base layer

I’ve got a couple of Howies NBL long sleeve base layers that are both full of holes now. I liked the Howies ones because they’re nice and long in the body, but they don’t seem to do them any more.
Anyone recommend some others with a decent length to them?

My cheap and cheerful Mountain Warehouse long sleeved zip up merino base layer is pretty long, and longer at the back too. Currently £35.

Howies fit wasn’t as good on the last one I bought.  I picked up some DHB in the chiggle-exit and they’re a good fit – long body and arms.  But all gone it seems.

(I’m surprise Mike Ashley hasn’t started ordering any new stock of the Chiggle brands – he normally just keeps churning out the same designs as long as he can with brands he buys.  Maybe delayed until the bike market picks up)(

Isobaa on Sport Pursuit just now. I bought a couple and like them, perhaps not long enough for you though if you like them loooooong.

I have some mons royal merino tops.

I have an Isobaa top but I wouldn’t describe it as particularly long but it does seem good quality, no holes so far. I also have a Bolger top, also from Sportpursuit. It’s thinner merino and a bit longer, I really like it but after a few years some of the elasticity has started to go, so it’s probably even longer but it doesn’t really bother me as I always have something else on top of it.

I have a few Rapha ones via Sportspersuit and are very happy with them and the reduced cost

I’ve Endura BaaBaa and happy with that. If you want one of the best then Ice Breaker is excellent.

Those DHB ones were waaaay off for sizing! I bought a L in the half-zip tea, even that’s a bit too snug for me (I’m usually between S/M). My son donated me an XXL, and it’s perfect!

Icebreaker, the best of the best. Expensive but worth every penny.

Have a couple of Isobaa tops from Sport Pursuit and they’re great quality. Almost look forward to winter commuting so I can wear the 320 weight one, its lush 😀

@hardtailonly I’m usually a medium but borderline med/large.  the mediums were a bit tight, the larges are perfect. They’re base layers –  meant to be snug.

Endura BaaBaa are great

I’d been wanting to get an Isobaa from SportPursuit but they only had large sizes.  Just checked again today and they have all sizes available, although there’s a 3 week wait on shipping.

I’ve had icebreaker ones in the past but TBH I prefer my Howies ones. I have some thick Merino tees that must be 12-13 years old and still get regular use when the mercury drops.

They just seem to hold together really well.

I am a huge Merino fan for my daily wear, I have tried so many brands and always end up back at Icebreaker. Multiple weight choices, and they never shrink in my experience.

Just back from Aldi, they have ski gear this week with Merino items. Base layers and tops, I think the base layers are merino cotton nut the roll neck and zip tops are 100% Merino. Size L is a good fit on me at 44” in normal clothes sizes. Good length in body and arms, and thumb loopholes too.
