Paying for services then not getting them – what to do?

SamCookeFree Member
Arse monkey who gets shirty when they don’t like the opinions of others is the biggest arse monkey.
How can he not like your opinion? You haven’t told anyone what it is.
edit: oh, and no, actually you are the bigger arse monkey
khaniFree MemberYeah, but ignoring your creditors and getting your flying monkeys to
create interferenceget the thread closed for you gives you even more breathing spaceByeeeeee…. 😀
slimjim78Free MemberYou haven’t told anyone what it is
Exactly!
You’ve come on here and defended the undefendable, with personal half arsed ‘he’s alright Jack’ reasoning.
There are many angry people here clearly owed, and clearly being ignored, yet you bandy your self-righteousness as if they are all wrong and you know something they don’t.
If you dont have the perfect excuse then, frankly, Do one.donsimonFree MemberYou haven’t told anyone what it is
Agreed, but I wouldn’t know whether he’s in the middle of that process or not, which is why I refrain from commenting either way.
My opinion is that without the full facts to hand no-one, except those directly connected, can really comment difinitively. Someone like you Sam, who just pops up to stir the crap every now and then definitely shouldn’t be here either, should you? but I’m glad you feel so passionate about something you’re not directly involved in. 😛
Yeah, but ignoring your creditors and getting your flying monkeys to create interference for you gives you even more breathing space
Clearly you know nothing.
crikeyFree MemberFlying monkeys and arse monkeys…
This thread has become a kind of dystopian David Attenborough nightmare.
SamCookeFree MemberMy opinion is that without the full facts to hand no-one, except those directly connected, can really comment difinitively.
So you have the full facts and are able to form an opinion?
Someone like you Sam, who just pops up to stir the crap every now and then definitely shouldn’t be here either, should you? but I’m glad you feel so passionate about something you’re not directly involved in
Oh” but it seems you don’t have the full facts on this
Yeah, but ignoring your creditors and getting your flying monkeys to create interference for you gives you even more breathing space
Clearly you know nothing.
No, I do. I’ve had creditors chasing in the past. I looked after me first. I ignored them, it gave me breathing space. Far from knowing nothing, I know rather more about this kind of situation than I would like.
chakapingFull MemberIt wouldn’t be STW if we didn’t all throw in our opinion without really knowing what’s going on…
There’s only one person who really knows what’s going on in this situation, and he appears to have scarpered to France.
Ignore Don Simon guys, he’s a wind-up merchant.
Edit: I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s read these threads and raised an eyebrow at the excuses offered to these “customers”.
donsimonFree MemberFlying monkeys and arse monkeys…
Hang around for the flying arses, now that’s a sight for sore eyes.
slimjim78Free MemberThanks for your opinion Don.
Here’s another opinion,
Unless he’s being held at gun point by a psychopath, and for some strange reason is being physically forced not to communicate with people he owes substantial amounts of money to, then he’s very much in the wrong.
My money, is metaphorically on the latter.
My money, literally, is cycling around France/Geneva/not my house.atlazFree MemberMy opinion is that without the full facts to hand no-one, except those directly connected, can really comment difinitively.
Surely there are people directly connected on this thread. They’ve sent money, and have no goods. The person who is too busy to refund is posting on twitter saying he’s got free time to do training/marketing/whatever but isn’t sorting people out. I don’t have any axe to grind with iDave but it’s hardly looking like he’s doing a good job in providing people a reason to believe him.
molgripsFree Member1) Without reliable email, how do you know who’s emailed you and when, and who received the emails you sent out?
2) I don’t know the whole details of what went down, so I am not dropping hints and stuff, but if he did not have access to the money you paid it’d be hard to refund, wouldn’t it?
3) He is not actually a con artist – I got a couple of plans from him last year. His organisation wasn’t particularly good, needed a bit of time and a couple of prods to get it, but just a couple.
He could of course do more to sort it out, you’ve given me some ideas of ways to help.
ScottCheggFree MemberDefend the indefensible.
If he hasn’t got the money, he needs to provide the service. If he can’t because his heads fallen off, he needs to tell people.
Hiding under a rock is a cowards trick. Man up.
donsimonFree MemberHave to step out now as I’ve been warned off, be careful Molly.
garrrrpirateFree Member1) Without reliable email, how do you know who’s emailed you and when, and who received the emails you sent out?
If he can twitter, he can email. Whatever technological calamity has befallen him I’m afraid this one is patently bobbins.
Just sayin.
crikeyFree MemberI’m struggling to see why anyone is defending his approach, and as molgrips has suggested, even when he’s ok, he’s piss poor.
Hope he’s having a great time though.
slimjim78Free Membermolgrips – I see where you are coming from, but we can all sit here and think of possible reasons as to why he can’t pay up, no matter how far fetched they are. The trouble is, those same reasonings would no doubt lead to not being able to leave the country/finance a lifestyle.
Communication, or lack of, is the key here. And if his reasons are 100% genuine, then communication may have saved his reputation.
If he can twitter, he can email. Whatever technological calamity has befallen him I’m afraid this one is patently bobbins.
precisely
crikeyFree Member…and given that even techno numptys like me can set up email accounts with gmail in 10 seconds, I find the ’email insn’t working’ excuses to be somewhat disingenous.
atlazFree MemberAlso doesn’t explain that even when people DID get hold of him and he promised to pay them back (less than 2 weeks ago), he failed to pay up. I’d been considering contacting him for a winter training plan but I’ll go somewhere else.
ScottCheggFree MemberHopefully everyone will go elsewhere and he’ll fall on his arse.
Only for Karma purposes, natch. It’s the only way he’ll learn.
molgripsFree MemberIf he can twitter, he can email.
Not necessarily. If you email me to an account to which I no longer have access, or someone else has hacked and is randomly deleting from, how am I going to know wtf is going on?
Anyway I am only speculating.
I’m not defending his approach, not at all – my opinion is that he is a disorganised and slightly useless businessman, much like me, who has faced a serious shitstorm. I am not sure I would manage much better in his shoes, but I am sure others might do better.
He’s not a con artist or a deliberate piss-taker though, I believe that.
garrrrpirateFree MemberHe’s not a con artist or deliberate piss-taker though, I believe that.
He just appears to have accidentally piss taken for hundreds of pounds for months on end whilst tweeting about what a good time he’s having on hols. Probably for the best he’s not trying.
chewkwFree MemberCrikey … so many people being taken for a ride.
Why are people so prepare to take others for a ride I don’t know but then people seem to get away with most things nowadays, so that’s not a surprise that nothing can be done about it.
The only advice is never to trust anyone no matter how innocence they look … human are bunch of creepy opportunistic maggots that deserve all they can get.
jota180Free MemberNot necessarily. If you email me to an account to which I no longer have access, or someone else has hacked and is randomly deleting from, how am I going to know wtf is going on?
Well he replied to some of the creditors with promises of payment
I’m no Sherlock but I reckon that’s a fairly big clue he received the email
Do you have any other straws you want to clutch at?DrillskiFree Memberlooking at his twitter feed he was able to attend Mayhem last month. And fund a pretty good lifestyle it would seem. Is he based in France or the UK?
SamCookeFree Memberhe could set up a gmail account and address people’s issues here.
CoyoteFree MemberNot going to comment on iDave, I don’t know him. However if he can twitter, he can come on here to put forward his side of the story.
On the hacked email. There are plenty IT types on here who can offer assistance in redirecting mail / repairing hacks etc. Samuri is about as good as it gets in IT security issues and is an all round good egg. Cougar seems pretty clued up too. I’d quite happily offer any advice I could but I’d consider myself very much behind the others I’ve mentioned.

That sounds good, how much should i send you?
yossarianFree MemberHas anyone got a mint sauce keyring they can lend me for a bit?
CoyoteFree MemberThat sounds good, how much should i send you?
No need for that, is there?
horaFree MemberKeep a lookout for a similar service offered around different forums. Some people fall down and in the process try to disuade creditors by appealling to their sense of ‘it could be you in that situation’.
Then they ‘Phoenix’ and move on. Uncomfortable, awkward to take in.
Sorry ANY communication including a Look I dont have the money fullstop but let me pay you off weekly would help. Cant email?
JunkyardFree Membermy opinion is that he is a disorganised and slightly useless businessman, much like me, who has faced a serious shitstorm. I am not sure I would manage much better in his shoes, but I am sure others might do better.

Dont disagree but it is also clear he is not prioritising sorting this out – if it is for plans that only requires some effort and time on his part not actual money. I can understand he does not have the money but he can communicate and he does have the time [ according to twitter] to remedy this and he has not.
Things happen and how you deal with them is how he should be judged. It would not be hard to contact the folk on here to sort this if he cared.iDaveFree MemberEveryone affected has been contacted and introduced to each other using an email address that is now 100% reliable. I’m deeply sorry for being a ****. All comments in the thread noted, many are fair, a few are well wide off the mark. Whilst this situation is hugely embarrassing and clearly unacceptable, it’s in no way been the most difficult thing I’ve been trying to deal with in the last 6 months. I’ve never tried to gain business from STW, it’s been my office banter since before it was STW. It makes no sense to deliberately bugger up an opportunity that came along – just think if I did a great job for a few on STW how the referrals would pour in. So, to intentionally do what appears to have been done would be utter madness both commercially and personally. Many users of STW are personal friends, it’s insane to think I’d act like this in full view of people I see regularly unless other forces outside my control were at work. Which I hope makes a few of you realise I’m not a total douche bag. Though if anyone wants a mint sauce key-ring……

Yeah, i’ve heard the Marmotte can be a bugger.
andydickoFree MemberI can’t help but think that if I was one of the unlucky people to have had any dealings with idave, I’d have made a point of finding out where he lived by now a gently persuaded my money back out of him…….. Only my opinion though 😀
cinnamon_girlFull MemberI would have gone down the Small Claims Court process yonks ago.
Frankly, your attitude to customers smacks of both arrogance and contempt – many people are dealing with difficult situations, it’s called ‘life’.
donsimonFree MemberI can’t help but think that if I was one of the unlucky people to have had any dealings with idave, I’d have made a point of finding out where he lived by now a gently persuaded my money back out of him…….. Only my opinion though
I’d have done that before handing any money over. 😉
horaFree MemberDidnt IWH say he had money issues when pursued?
idave seriously just be straight with the people that you owe money to.
Just say you havent got it at the moment to give back. Stop the ‘Ive contacted the people’.
Be honest. Come to repayment arrangement witha low amount each month for each.
IF you have been in France recently though, mate your bad. Regardless if you lost a house(guess) etc. These folk arent bankers etc.
