Where I come from there’s only Supermarkets left. And I like the occasional Pizza. It’s hardly a crime.

No, it’s not a crime to eat crap food that’s bad for you and also tastes bad. Not quite sure why you need to come on here moaning about it afterwards though.

whereas the gym treatments thy can be referred for are free

Though the poor biffers would die out quicker if they were allowed to be hunted

Where’s the sport in that, eh? They’d not last the first field!

You’re not blue-sky thinking Flashy. I didn’t say how they were to be hunted. I’m thinking hunting hides on the roof of tower blocks in council estates. City traders could let off steam by nipping south of the river to sit in them with high powered snipers rifles

The fatties could be picked off as they make the rat run from their damp-riddled, flea-infested hovels to the kebab house

Actually…. in some right wing Westminster think-tank someone is presently ‘running this up the flagpole to see who salutes it’

My point is, if I could buy a healthier Pizza, I would. Along with a good proportion of the population.

You can sit on a high horse all you like, but it doesn’t get around the fact that the general public WILL buy what is easily available to them.

It is not necesarry to lace a pizza with salt and sugar, but almost impossible to find one without.

It’s a hell of a lot harder than bunging a ready made one in the oven for 10 minutes.

I love pizza. I love that it takes a few minutes to stick some ingredients in a blender, smear on to a base, then top with whatever takes your fancy, including sugar if that’s your thing, and stick in the oven for 10 minutes.
If that’s too much for you, you’re probably better off with sugar.

    Do your own?

Pizza base, tomato puree, your choice of toppings – veg, meat, chesse, etc

bung in oven on a high temp for 10 mins and your done. All available in that very same supermarket I would have thought

let’s blame society because it forces sugar laced pizza on us.

Doesn’t force it on us, but certainly here (in Spain) one of the cheapest and vilest brands is actively marketed* as being a healthy food – lots of shots of sunny, rural life, fresh tomatoes, warm lighting on a loaf of bread, etc. etc. And while most of us can read the ingredients, how many actually bother? You’re in a hurry, the kids are grumbling, the supermarket’s heaving… So maybe society isn’t forcing you to buy it, but it’s certainly not helping. (And this is of course why the food manufacturers are so against the traffic light marking).

    * example of their marketing here:

My Tescos sells Pizza Express pizzas. Are they laced with sugar? Never checked tbh.

Now that we only have out of town shopping parks the answer is simple – get rid of the car parks.

Similarly get rid of twitter – in the olden days if you wanted to whinge at a tory you had to walk to London.

I don’t understand why pizz shops don’t sell by the slice – It might not solve the obesity problem but it’d cut down on friday night fights.

No actually it’s not. Chopping down and chopping up a tree is a hell of a lot harder than buying a bag of logs. Using a blender for a couple of minutes is not a hell of a lot harder than anything, except watching jeremy kyle.

They’ll be exactly the same as the Tesco’s own brand ones, made on the same industrial estate production line, by minimum waged immigrants, with the same lowest-common-denominator ingredients.

But they’re three times the price as they’re specifically marketed at aspirational, middle-class half-wits with more money than sense 😉

    buy a healthier Pizza

Somehow that seems a really flawed concept, but I’m struggling to think of how to explain why.

And we were wondering why lazy people are fat…

Its not a mystery really, is it.

ah yes, but then you’d have to walk that bit further to get those ingredients, which is a hell of a lot harder than buying a piece of sugar-soaked cardboard

Wow free bike that maintains itself for free that does indeed sound awesome – thats quite a fail in countering my point

Not free bikes or maintenance as such, but I cycle to work and save far more on diesel then I have spent on bikes or bike maintenance (not including any saving I make because of less wear and tear on the car). So it’s effectively free, yes. Plus you get to keep fit.

And we were wondering why lazy people are fat…

That’s time I can spend out the bike…

I have actually made my own pizza on occasion. The Pizza base from Tesco is also disgusting. Which means I have to make the dough too.

Is it too much to ask for this to be ready prepared? Are you telling me you prepare everything yourself from raw ingredients? Never grab yourself a tin of baked beans, soup? Packet of pasta? Of course not… 🙄

That’s exactly what I would tell you, if you bothered to ask before making your silly assumptions. I have opted out of processed food and feel exactly one million times better for it.

OK, I’ll bite. If you think that supermarket pizza products are ‘disgusting’, why are you buying and eating them?

As for pizza dough, make a load up, split into balls and freeze. When you think you’ll wnat pizza in the evening, take a ball out to defrost in the morning

Are they silly? They apply to at least 99.9% of the population.

never know anyone make their own baked beans

Most dont make their own bread and i doubt many make their own pasta

I cook 90% of my food from ingredients but I have yet to make my own cornflakes either

Well… either do that make-your-own-from-organic-vegetables hippy shit… or just go to Pizza Hut. All you can eat buffet £6.95. And there’s a great view of Carphone Warehouse across the retail park car park. Whats not to like?

I think you’re missing a point. Some folk are allegic to kitchen duties that extend beyond peeling back the lid, closing the door and setting the timer. I’m not judging, just saying like.

so 90% or more of the population is overweight is that our wager?

All this talk of Pizza has made me quite peckish. Might have to drive to the Tesco express now.

Women used to stay at home, look after the family, cook the meals etc. Now in most families both partners work.
We work longer hours than ever before individually never mind as a family unit.
We travel further to work than our parents and grandparents.
Streets are busy and full of traffic, certainly not the playground they were for children just a generation ago.

Life has changed a lot in recent history, we have constraints on our time and our lifestyles have changed. It’s no surprise that poor health and obesity has risen as a result. And its no surprise that the most ignorant, wealthiest and greediest members of society still want to victimise the poorest and those with the least power to fight back, to grab an even bigger slice of the financial pie.

No, it’s free. I’ve effectively paid for my bike several times over since I’ve been cycling to work. In fact, the savings I make pay for my hobby. You don’t have to spend thousands on a bike to commute to work.
