No Gram Flour in Waitrose, I’ll have to not wash for three days and then go to Sainsbury’s, with a hat and false tash on 🙁

    Cous you can.

    iDave

you can eat cous cous – unless you’re on the iDave program in which case you can eat it once a week. or you send DD some cash, then we can classify its use as 100% compliant.

Ahhh, I see. What about fruit?

More seriously… can I eat fruit as my quick acting carbs after exercise? In which case the fruit I have for breakfast, lunch and tea is ok?

These questions are going beyond the “free” advice parameters.

Do you need a dodgy accountant to help out with the finances?

I can offer my services as payment in kind.

I don’t think fruit are fast acting carbs. That’s not why they are on the no list afaik.

Couscous is made from semolina, and so no, I don’t think so. Sorry! Try quinoa instead, which is a bit pricier but pretty much just protein.

They gotta be Molly… all that fructose… I’m assuming the same applies to my lunch time pint of milk and peanut butter and jam sarnies.

    Am I right?

    molgrips

Fructose is low GI I think.

However it has other side effects which are undesirable for those wishing to lose weight I believe. Milk is also low GI but has undesirable side effects.

Just starting this want to shift 6-10kg after becoming a fatty one day in but missing tea badly and don’t drink coffee so question is if I still have tea with skimmed milk 3-4 cups a day how badly do I comprome the diet considering the no diary rule

    deadlydarcy

    the no diary rule

There’s no rule saying you can’t keep a daily record of what you consume. I am preparing a website where you can do this though – for a small fee. 🙂

You coudl always MTFU and drink black tea? Try a lighter variety like Darjeeling, which is much better without milk or sugar imo. Tetley and the like are designed to be drunk with milk so I find are a bit astringent without it.

However the logical course of action would be to try it with the milky tea and see if you lose weight 🙂

Been discussing the diet with other fitness obsessives… is it actually possible to train 2 or more times a day on the diet?

I’m already struggling to get 2,500 kcals in even with fruit, nuts, bread and milk.

Quite fancy giving this a go, terrified about the lack of beer involved though and the feasibility/consequences of consuming a curry, fish and chips, a packet of choco hobnobs and a cheese and pickle sandwich. 2 kiwi fruits and a punnet of strawberrys washed down by 12 cups of milky sweet coffee and 8 pints, all on a Tuesday (Tuesday night ride normally finishes with a couple of pints).

It is if you get enough carbs Yeti AND THIS IS NOT LOW CARB! That either means eating a hell of a lot of legumes (which I couldn’t do) or carbing up around your exercise times. So before, during and immediately after.

My first few weeks were hard, until I added more carbs.

Do you really need to do this though? Surely you are skinny already?

    TheSouthernYeti

So before, during and immediately after.

What carbs are you consuming then around these times Molly?

I’m certainly not skinny, but have been told I don’t need to lose weight… still reckon I can drop a bit to get to a fighting weight though.

.. is it actually possible to train 2 or more times a day on the diet?

Do you really want to train more than 2 times a day? surely this is over training?

During the winter i was training 2 times a day (lunch and evening) for an hour at time. This has now cut right back as my coach said it was far too much with racing. Loads and loads make the mistake of training far too much

Tetley is that even Tea? I did MTFU yesterday and drank black tea but as you allude to it’s rank so i cried off like a big blouse. Will try darjeeling and earl grey and maybe the old slip back to milk with tea.

Thanks for the diary offer how much

TSY, diet when training hard is a different matter completely.

You may want to train twice a day, but you don’t need to. It’s just lazy.

    Keva

agreed, black tea is rank, and it has to be pretty rank if I can’t drink it.

    TheSouthernYeti

Awesome, I always knew I was lazy.

It’s not all hard training. I’ve got ‘the plan’ which obviously I’ve not been able to do for the last couple of weeks.

    That’s 5 sessions though.
Add in swimming each morning (with a focus on technique), have started climbing a couple of times a week.
A 40 mile round commute a couple of times a week.
A proper ride Sat and Sun.

Soon adds up, infact it’s hard to fit it all in.

tetley, pg and all that stuff yes i agree. but a nice lapsang or an earl grey, thats another matter and i would’nt contemplate polluting a cup with milk.

What carbs are you consuming then around these times Molly?

Energy products mostly. 2 scoops during my rides to and from work since I’m taking it pretty easy. If I miss that or I feel I need more I have a coke immediately afterwards – I go by feel – if I start feeling run down or really weak on the bike I reckon I’ve not taken enough carbs. So I either grab some more sugary things or start having huge helpings of beans for breakfast.

    Add in swimming each morning

You sure you need to swim every morning? Sometimes less is more.

I’m worrying my 3 cream eggs last Friday followed by a whole large pizza may have scuppered my weight loss. ‘Only’ 3lb in 10 days.

I hate baked beans 🙁 Plus I don’t have a proper breakfast until after I’ve swum… banana and ceral bar in the car on the way to the gym normally.

Maybe I don’t need to swim every morning, did kettle bells instead on Monday as that’s a yoga day (forgot about yoga twice a week). Swimming is a nice way to start the day though 🙂
