I think Chewy has slightly blown his cover over the last few weeks.

He seems very bitter, I think yesterday’s result has touched a nerve.

Jesus – Some of the stuff I’m seeing about the DUP is going to completely trash Tory reputation (or what’s left of it).
Jeremy Vine described them as the Tories “Soulmates” ffs.

They’re like UKIP turned up to 11!

Creationist, homophobic, climate change denying, racist and misogynist!

He’s gone a bit “Swivel eyed” on STW in the past but at least appeared sort of cogent…

This. On the face of it, a tory govt propped up by the DUP is pretty catastrophic for anyone on the left (or anyone with half a brain), especially when you think a couple more seats it would have been Corbyn forming a govt. But from the start the nut-jobs in the DUP and the left of the tories are going to be at war. It’s not going to last long, and while it unravels over the next few months, the tories will be dragged down further. This is potentially a better scenario than Corbyn trying to cobble together a minority govt and giving the tories the space to reorganise.

correct if I’m wrong but you can’t put a false name forward if you’re standing for parliament? so that guy has legally changed his name to Lord Buckethead?!
I doff my bucket to him, what a star. 😆
I wonder if bucket is his middle name or part of his last?!

Don’t they have a female leader? I’m just going by the breastfeeding/abortion policies and some of the quotes from Sammy Wilson.

(Bear in mind I’ve only looked at this in the last couple of hours).

I’m going to need a general strike.
Or major cabinet minster spy affair. Maybe even another expenses scandal.
    Something. Anything.
All this talk of “working with yada-yada whatever party” is a major buzzkill.
I’m getting addicted to this 5–t. Bigly.

SNP will not go into coalition

Didn’t I just see Nicola Sturgeon on TV saying they were ready to work with anyone to stop a Tory government? Or did I dream that?

what i don’t understand is, why should the whole of the UK be, in part, governed by a party that represents just Northern Ireland, the smallest, remotest part of the UK. even within NI the DUP only just beat the second most popular party. they have 10 seats in Westminster, that is fewer than the SNP.

The DUP is anti abortion, anti gay amrriage and denies there is a problem with climate change.

they got sweet FA votes overall. don’t represent the views of the rest of the UK population.

in fact, why not just cut NI adrift and let Ireland be, as its name suggests, an island?

    farcical.

+1. I posted the following on another forum:

Having thought about it, I think this election is a good result:
    1. The DUP wants a soft Brexit, so Theresa May will have to ditch the silly rhetoric about walking away without a deal.
    2. The Tories are weak and divided.
    3. Labour has ignored all of the received wisdom about appealing to the centre, making personal attacks, no tax rises, courting the press etc, and still done much better in terms of vote share than in the previous three elections.
    4. Corbyn has seen off any leadership challenge for the foreseeable. Hopefully the PLP will now unite behind its leader and bring some experience back to the shadow cabinet, making it a stronger proposition at the next election.
    4. Brexit, however well the negotiations go, will be economically damaging. The Tories, as the party in government, will get the blame.

All in all, Labour’s position as a strong opposition could be a better result than being in a minority government.

Or indeed the Lib-Dems, but for some reason Faron is not keen on a Con/Lib coalition… I wonder why that would be?

Ireland gets its name from Eire, a Celtic godess, but don’t let a few facts get in the way of a good rant.

Yes the SNP will support a labour government on a issue by issue basis and even possibly a supply and confidence deal but this is not the same as coalition which is a political impossibility for both parties

Privatly I am sure she hates the idea. Publicly she will say nothing – remember she is not an important cog in the tory machine and is not at westminster

Some Humble pie Mr Mandelson ?

The former Labour cabinet minister Peter, now Lord, Mandelson says last night’s result was a political “earthquake”.

Lord Mandelson, who has been a critic of Jeremy Corbyn, was challenged over his view of the leadership and admitted: “I was wrong, I am very surprised, an earthquake has happened in British politics.”

He went on to say he had not foreseen the result and said Jeremy Corbyn had been “very sure footed” in the campaign.

But he said if Labour was to come first and not be what he called “a good second” next time, Mr Corbyn had to build on what he’d achieved and be much more “ecumenical” in his approach, starting with the Labour party itself.

Is the continued polarization of the electorate reflected in the difficulty the party’s have trying to form sustainable, coalition governments or is it the machine of Westminster that breeds the national mistrust for “weak” coalition governments?

Meanwhile, over the water, Germany continues grow and prosper. Arguably the engine and, after brex5–t, the helmsman of Europe.
