Biking isn't a great exercise for getting rid of belly flab, as it just sits there not moving when your on a bike.

Take up running it will move much quicker… and less dangerous

Err, it's great exercise for porkers as your bodyweight is supported.

Running = impact, which can be a shortcut to injuries.
OK, cycling = impact if you do it wrong 🙂

I'd recommend swimming, front crawl. You can thrash yourself, get out the pool feeling absolutley ****, but with no aches and pains from impact at all.
*note to self – must go swimming 😯 *

I do agree that a bar end impact hurts like buggery

It depends where it gets you, surely. And do you mean as a taker or giver?

The scariest pic I've seen in a while WCA. A scott strike carbon xc F'susser in what looks like an harsh enviroment. It looks like were bikes go (get taken if there naughty) to die!!

a lad at work who's, shall we say 'comfortably built', went out running recently to try to get some weight off, caught a kerb stone crossing a road and went down hard on his right hand. Fractured half a dozen bones. Less dangerous? The bar-end plug thing was driven home years ago by some nasty pics in MBUK, so I've always used them, got them alloy Hope Disco's on two bikes, and large plastic ones on another. The ally ones are great for **** up paintwork on inconsiderately parked cars.
D-S, the bruise will fade, people have taken heed of your comments, but be aware there are a few on here who can be downright nasty just because there's a degree of anonimity. None on this thread, particularly, this is just the usual STW pith taking, so please accept it in that vein.

thursday nights 19:30ish group ride at Hare and Hounds, all weathers, all year

Ranger rules apply (we leave no-one behind) social yo-yo pace and beer afterwards

Derek you are more than welcome, there is another Tuesday night ride which is even slacker but you will need to show on a Thursday to get the invite
