If STW is serious about this, they need to canvas women’s opnion.
IIRC they did and the overwhelming view was that having a “women’s forum” in additon to the Bike and Chat wasn’t going to work for various reasons.
STW occasionally reminds me of your favourite pub – you can wander in at any time of day or night and find a friendly group to have a chat with, mingle etc except that of late the table in the far corner seems to have become the haunt of 6 or 8 loud blokes arguing with each other, butting into other peoples conversations, telling crude jokes and generally being obnoxious all the while thinking they’re hilariously funny and popular. Occasionally the bartender comes over and tells them to keep it down or throws one of them out before that person dons an alternative name, sneaks in the side entrance, mingles for a bit then rejoins his mates in the corner and it all goes back to the same old unpleasant background noise.
ST at it’s best can be an incredible place full of supportive, funny, intelligent people; at it’s worst it’s dominated by the loud table in the corner…
