Does this mean the world will end on Sunday at 8pm? I hope so, them Guardian readers will have to grow their own tofu then.

I’d like to know what he punched the guy for. May have been justified?

ants’ then the other person involved would have been spoken to prior to Clarkson being suspended and no action would have been taken? Or they’d both have been suspended? Or neither.

really? That’s interesting – Have you got a copy of BBC human resources policies there then, or did you just make that up?

I’m so sorry if it’s been done already, but Vice have gone in swinging:

It’s about time Jeremy Clarkson was punished for being a shitlord, to be fully honest, because its something he’s been for a while—or, arguably, all of his life.

Details are thin on the ground at the moment—it’s not yet known whether the Clarkson-producer set-to was a fistfight, a mouth fight, or if they both just unzipped their dicks from their pissed-on dad jeans and jousted at each other

    🙂

If you owned the production rights to a tired show that had seen it’s day, what better way of increasing it’s value before sell off…. anyone watch Jonathon Ross these days?

The BBC is selling it off?

It is at least as accurate as any of your imaginings of the incident, and based on the way the BBC have bent over backwards to pander to Clarkson in the past, seems much more plausible than the depiction of the BBC as tofu munching handwringers.

Precisely, wild supposition based on rumour is a game we can all play, but so far it’s all on the side of ‘guilt by accusation’

Drac: Nah, not selling it off – the BBC have been planning a relaunch with a new format

They will only be allowed to review hybrid or ‘green’ vehicles, and they are going to have four presenters, a woman, a gay, an ethnic and a disabled, so as to better reflect modern British society.

The victim was too scared to report it himself, that’s how bullying works.

Or maybe they sorted it all out.

    Who knows?

But don’t let the facts get in the way of a good lynching.

You just can’t help it, can you ninfan?
JC does seem to appeal to, amongst others, those who get really offended that they can no longer call ‘a spade a spade’.
If it’s all just an act, why would that be?

If he’s done nowt wrong, it’ll all be sorted and he’ll be back in work soon.
If he is a bullying ****, he’ll get fired.

    Shall we wait and see?

But don’t let the facts get in the way of a good lynching.

    The lynching seems to be mostly directed at those saying;

“It’s right they suspended him and waited to establish all the facts before taking further action”

Obviously everyone who’s always thought he was a knob has leapt on this as confirmation and those that thought he was god incarnate feel he’s been hard done by.

Who’s going to be the other 3?

    No mention of gingers?

First the BBC lost its edgy comedy. Then it was reborn and then they tried killing BBC3, BBC lost F1, possibly a watered-down soon to be shot Topgear.

Will they have any motoring content at all left or will it be dross and everyone else puts out quality output?

Anyway I can avoid the licence fee and still see other output?

a woman, a gay, an ethnic and a disabled

I know taking offence is something I choose to do but the way that you expressed those terms in what appeared to be an attempt to denigrate them as having less value for what they are rather than something they choose to be has achieved it.

Mainly the ‘a’ on the front like they’re all some sort object, I think.

the more I’ve read from the JC fan club on here and elsewhere the more I think there’s a) a huge crossover with ukip supporters and b) if he’s their spiritual leader then it’s best he’s off the air.

Massive mistake on the BBC’s part

No, they have done exactly the right thing. It is alleged that he assaulted a work colleague, so it’s entirely appropriate for them to suspend him pending a disciplinary investigation.

How right you are. What they should do is get four men. Straight, white, rich, hairy manly masculine men, mind, with nice deep voices. In fact they should open each episode with a live cattle slaughter, with machetes, which is then cooked (in a petrol filled pit) and eaten (with bare hands) during the show.

As you say, games we can all play.

So you’re not sure why you’ve taken offence but you think you have but not sure why. Odd.

I do know, it’s just articulating why I’m struggling with.

The one that brought me up short was describing someone as ‘a disabled’. It’s dismissive, insulting, suggesting that someone has less to offer as a result, almost that they’re not a person at all.

But it’s true with all of the list, tbh – it’s saying

“here’s a choice of inferior objects that will be substituted for the human ‘the people’ really want”

I really do think you’re reading too much into it.

So you’re not sure why you’ve taken offence

I’m not sure you have to be on the bleeding edge of political correctness gone mad to twitch when someone refers to “a disabled”…

Obviously it’s in the context of Top Gear though, so it’s hilariously subversive.

I really do think you’re reading too much into it.

fair enough, I wasn’t asking for moderation to take place and the first thing I said was that it was a choice I’d made to react how I have.

It still doesn’t feel right to see those words written that way in that context but I’ve had my say on it.

Or, it could be a much more subtle and intelligent comment on the tickbox nature of tokenism in an overwhelmingly white middle class media organisation… That might be missed by those who jump on the ‘I’m offended’ bandwagon without knowing exactly why?

Of course if I dobbed someone at work I would expect to be disciplined – yes probably suspended and possibly sacked.

    But, the business would continue.

This is a corporation that has recently been criticised for ignoring allegations of much more serious wrong doings by its stars, precisely because they were big popular acts.

To suggest that they ignore allegations of a criminal act because the perpetrator is “funny” and earns them lots of money strikes me as extremely ironic.

Given the BBCs history regarding Saville, Stuart Hall, DLT, etc. its the only thing they can do.

    Electioneering Clown (@Fedupwithclowns):
Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended. He must have done something that even the BBC find inexcusable.
So that rules out child abuse.

Given the franchise was worn through in any case, the Beeb ought to take this opportunity to quietly put it out of its misery.

Lots of people like to watch Top Gear all around the world.

Why should the programme they enjoy so much be cancelled because of this?

Discipline Clarkson by all means ( this would be instant dismissal in most workplaces) but the show should go on with the other two or with the addition of a guest presenter..

Clarkson suspended for act of kindness

If he hit somebody in the workplace he should be sacked. Regardless of how much money he brings in.

    It’s all just speculation though.

It will end at some point. Just because it makes money doesn’t mean it has to be made. Scrapping it may, and I stress the may, give the Beeb the kick up the arse it so desperately needs.

Ianmunro said..I feel quite sorry for Jeremy Clarkson getting suspended; it’s total discrimination against talentless bellends.

Oh yeah, the multi, multi, millionaire Clarkson with fans all over the world is a talentless bellend is he? He’s almost certainly got more talent in his little finger than the person writing that statement.
