The Suarez Evra thing rumbling on.

IT MEANS….. MAN UTD GET TREATED DIFFERENT WHEN IN FRONT OF THE FA AND SUAREZ AS RIGHT NOT TO SHAKE HIS HAND
IS THAT CLEAR ENOUGHYeah… I presume you are ignoring the following.
Rooney’s red card in the amsterdam tournament carrying through to the Premier league, despite Gerrards the previous season (in the same pre-season friendly tournament) not.
Rio’s massive ban for missing a drugs test when a man city player did the same 6 months previously and got a fine.
Rooneys ban for swearing at the camera, whereas redknapp wasn’t censured at all.
I could go on.
the FA is about as consistent as a box of frogs, but in this case they went to an independent panel and used the words he’s said via kuyt and comolli’s translation. If LFC think he’s innocent where’s the appeal?
JunkyardFree Membernice tactic surfer make it all about man u and ferguson. I cannot believe a Lifelong liverpool fan who can remeber all those other “crimes” by Fergie was so disappointed by his reaction…surely this is what you have come to expect of this Knighted gent by now?
I hope your deflect it all back to Fergusson technique works for you and your beloved Liverpool- Would you like to defend King Kenny’s interview and reaction out of interestI suspect this approach will be as successful as their “acceptance” of the punishment.
I think many
peopleblindly loyal Liverpool fans feel Suarez was treated at least shabbily by the FA panel regarding this and Suarez himself feels that Evra lied and as a consequence didnt want to shake his hand.Suarez was not the only liverpool player or employee to change his story[lie?? to the enquiry
FFS he claims he called him a negro then nipped him in an attempt to calm down a heated exchange ….and Liverpool fans wonder why his account was not taken seriously and he was perceived to be a liar and a total BS.From the FA report
376 Mr Kuyt also understood Mr Suarez to have used Dutch words which translated as “Because you’re black”. This was said, on Mr Comolli’s
and Mr Kuyt’s accounts, in the context of Mr Suarez replying to Mr Evra’s “Don’t touch me” comment rather than any exchange in the goalmouth. Both Mr Comolli and Mr Kuyt told us that they had misunderstood what Mr Suarez initially told them. We were sceptical about this explanation, although the point is probably most relevant as showing the confusion and inconsistency in Mr Suarez’s account of events.379 Secondly, we found Mr Suarez, in contrast, to be an unreliable witness on critical parts of his evidence. His evidence was inconsistent with contemporaneous evidence in the form of video footage, especially with regard to his claims of pinching as an attempt to defuse the situation, and using the word “negro” in a conciliatory and friendly way. He changed his account over
time in a number of respects. This all combined to cast grave doubt on the reliability of the remainder of his evidence on the main factual disputes.Liverpool are a great club and they are not racist but if you think this victim mentality and blaming others is not Liverpool digging and making the problem worse then there is a long way to go till this resolves itself and Liverpool are once more held in the high regard they deserve.
It just seems to be my club right or wrong attitude from Pool fans which is a shame. loyalty and support is admirable except when it is blind.grumFree MemberAnother Liverpool fan here.
Suarez was clearly out of order with the original Evra thing and should have just apologised, cultural differences notwithstanding. However, didn’t Evra call him a ‘stupid south American’, arguably also racist, which seems to have got forgotten.
And this:
Ferguson has presided over several similar non handshake events as well as supporting a player who assaulted a fan during a game, another who deliberately ended another players career and one who has avoided drugs tests. For Ferguson to continue to vilify Suarez simply because he refused to shake someones hand is beyond the pale.
Whatever you think of Suarez (I think he is probably a fairly unpleasant character) I don’t think much of Evra or Alex Ferguson either TBH. claiming Suarez could have started a riot is somewhat disingenuous given Evra’s behaviour. And SAF and his pets in the media have been massively winding up this whole situation for weeks and weeks.
I’ll also be interested to see what happens to England’s Brave John Terry, who doesn’t seem to be getting anywhere near the same abuse/vilification that Suarez does.
JunkyardFree MemberFerusson is a great manager if not a great person – his comments for example mean we discuss Suarez today rather than Evras reaction/ goading at the end. The pressure is on Liverpool – this is great management if not great diplomacy. He did say Evra should not have done it mind but Suarez non reaction did show some class and self restraint.
Evra is a cockI apologise for forgetting to defend them completely despite the evidence like the Liverpool fayns
rudedogFree Memberthe FA is about as consistent as a box of frogs, but in this case they went to an independent panel and used the words he’s said via kuyt and comolli’s translation. If LFC think he’s innocent where’s the appeal?
These FA appointed panels have a 99.5% conviction rate – did you really see this going any other way than a guilty verdict for Suarez?
Regarding the appeal – Liverpool were not allowed to appeal the decision, only the length of the ban and if they were unsuccessful the ban would have been increased. In order to try and move on, the club decided not to appeal the length of the ban.
I’ve said before, I don’t know if Suarez is guilty or not but the way the FA went about this stinks. The dossier the FA released is full of inaccuracies and contradictions – it would be ripped to shreds in a court of law.
Liverpool FC have been very naive in how they have dealt with this and mistakes have definitely been made on their part. The whole thing is a sad affair for an LFC fan.
grumFree MemberI apologise for forgetting to defend them completely despite the evidence like the Liverpool fayns
Um…. Like I did you mean?
Dark-SideFull MemberI’m a Liverpool fan. I wasn’t at OT yesterday but was at Anfield on Monday for Luis’ return and I cheered as loud as the next man. I don’t agree with the way that Suarez acted towards Evra back in October, but I certainly think it has been portrayed in the media as much more one way than it actually was, as pointed out earlier in the thread, by Evra’s own admission he engaged in a conversation with Suarez about ethnicity before the use of the word Negro by Suarez. I think a ban was fair, though the way it was investigated wasn’t and Suarez has now been vilified by all corners of the media and it’s turned unfairly into a which hunt. Suarez did neither the club or himself any favours yesterday and I’m angry it him for it. You can see from Evra’s reaction it’s the opportunity he was hoping for and boy did he make the most of it. I lack objectivity in this matter and though I have no issue with thinking Evra is a deeply unpleasant human being, I’m running out of excuses for the way Suarez acts when presented with an opportunity to move on, or not create extra controversy.
Both Fergie and Kenny need to show unity in the situation, not make stupid statements about banning players for life or handshakes not being seen etc. there are much bigger issues here than a local rivalry that need addressing and the best course of action would be to display some kind of unity between the two most successful clubs in English football against racism .
I feel pretty sad about the whole thing this morning, both clubs have seen fans charged with racist abuse this month and both managers have inflamed an already bad situation. Then this morning I learn that Kenny, his wife Marina and their kids have received death threats through Twitter . Is this really an acceptable level of behaviour over a game?
HadgeFree MemberAs a Liverpool fan I can say hand on heart what has happened is not good for the club but it needs an understanding from everyone. Firstly Suarez was wrong in what he said. Liverpool as a club should have made him understand what can and can’t be said and he should have been introduced to John Barnes and had racism explained to him properly and if he was a genuine guy, maybe just maybe his attitude would have changed. I also believe the FA should have ensured he went through an educating program to let him see the error of his ways.
I personally believe that Liverpool don’t want to rock the boat with him, in case he up sticks and leaves which is very very wrong and not the way it should be. Liverpool as a club SHOULD have told him he was wrong and all this crap that’s now going on maybe wouldn’t be here and football could carry on and just get on with it. As normal, we don’t have all the facts, we don’t know whats going on behind the scenes but I hope Kenny is not being left out on a limb with this defence of Suarez when surely someone higher in the club should actually say something on the matter instead of sitting on the fence.
I hope it all goes away very quickly for the sake of football and decency for everyone.JunkyardFree MemberWhat hadge said as well Good post
I apologise for forgetting to defend them completely despite the evidence like the Liverpool fayns
Um…. Like I did you mean?you added the fact you were a Liverpool fan after my post….interesting approach who knows why you did this eh. It does explain many of your posts … thought you were just gentle trolling tbh on footy threads you sneaky ***** 😉
oldgrump08Free MemberSecond that for Hadge.
Nobody has covered themselves in glory on this one. I’ll give Suarez his due for not reacting to Evra’s ‘exuberant’ celebration with the fans.surferFree MemberI hope your deflect it all back to Fergusson technique works for you and your beloved Liverpool- Would you like to defend King Kenny’s interview and reaction out of interest
I brought it due to the clear hypocrisy and the fact that it is headline news on the BBC site when at the end of the day if you are to believe the MU spin (which you clearly do) then the worst he did was to refuse to shake somebodies hand. Something Ferguson has actually done himself.
This debate is about yesterday and of course it is in a context but other than the handshake refusal nothing very much happened. The marginally better side won but both teams were sub par and the game itself was forgettable.
Don’t let that stop you however.voodoo_chileFree MemberForget stupid handshakes, look at evra at the end of the game and at half time, who is at fault? It is up to suarez to shake someones hand like it is up to rio ferdinand to shake someones hand …..remember gary neville refusing vieras hand or wayne bridge with john terry get over it …it is all about man utds hold on the FA
JunkyardFree MemberYes whatEVRA Surfer 😛
Yes you can see with Fergies charge sheet, Ferdinands ban that we have the FA in our pocket – I mean that is not juts a view a paranoid Liverpool fan would spout out to deflect it some more
LOL serious LOL
As for Half time was it evras fault now that Suarez kicked the ball away at the half time whistle 😯
As stupid as me claiming that Suarez made Evra dance round the pitch and celebrate in front of himThe inability of some people to have even a semblance of a grip on reality or remain even remotely objective is shcocking reflection and one of the main reasons that football has these issues.
people forget about any principle beyond team loyalty and just defend their team whatever they do. Your attitude is part of the problem not part of the solution.
surferFree MemberAs for Half time was it evras fault now that Suarez kicked the ball away at the half time whistle
What are you talking about? Your arguments are lacking coherence.
I am not blindly supporting Liverpool despite you trying to picture me that way. I thought we were talking about the trivial matter of the lack of a handshake. You seem to be getting a bit hysterical however.surferFree MemberForget stupid handshakes, look at evra at the end of the game and at half time, who is at fault? It is up to suarez to shake someones hand like it is up to rio ferdinand to shake someones hand …..remember gary neville refusing vieras hand or wayne bridge with john terry get over it …it is all about man utds hold on the FA
I agree and for Ferguson to use this to vilify Suarez further is unacceptable in my opinion and its also unacceptable for the BBC to give it more credence than it deserves.
SurroundedByZulusFree MemberJY – at half time Suarez was raging because he’d been denied what he thought was a free kick which would have led to a red card.
surferFree MemberHe had no service and its probably a good thing that he was peripheral throughout as (leaving aside ignoring Evra when he was being goaded which seemed an unusual level of restraint) he looked a “loose cannon”
voodoo_chileFree MemberFerguson has too much to say sort your own out first, he would love us to lose suarez ….junkyard no paranoid androids here, just fairness would be nice
hounslowFree MemberI wouldn’t have thought Fergie cares a whole lot if Liverpool lose Suarez, hardly competing for the same things. I would say though, that Liverpool would be better off (or the same place, just more liked) without him, Bellamy and Kuyt are plenty good enough, just need better understudies.
beagleFree MemberI agree that Evra shouldn’t have goaded Suarez at the end of the game. However, as old grump said it was with his own fans, not into Suarez’s face in a Keown/RVN way, or indeed to the away fans in a Gary Neville way.
Denis Irwin (IIRC) missed out on a FA cup final for tapping the ball away years back and got a yellow, not hammering it into the opposition dugout because his scream n dive in the face of a fair challenge hadn’t succeeded in getting a sending off. Want fairness??? That should have been a booking for walloping the ball away then. That’s not mentioning the wiping his shirt as if he’d been spat at. I enjoy SA football and have seen a fair few games over there – and have a soft spot for Uruguay in fact. But Suarez needs a Stevie G/Carragher arm round him and be told to chill. Not free reign and backing from KK. As I said earlier – it’s bringing the name of the club down and masking mediocrity on the pitch. But LFC are the victims in this of course.
SurroundedByZulusFree MemberWhere would the death threats recieved today by Kenny Dalglish and his wife come into this?
JunkyardFree MemberYou seem to be getting a bit hysterical however.
Nice goading but a tad obvious
No idea SBZ you are the master troller and you ar ebest qualified to tell us whether things on the internet are real or not.
What do you say – do we treat what people say on the Internet as serious and what they really think?mtFree MemberAre Liverpool not making a play for in increased fan base? EDL, BNP and perhaps even the KKK. It’ll not be long before the BNP are in amoungst it all stiring the s..t. Should be nipped in the bud now before some real nutters use this situation to further their own dispicable ends. THose two players are well paid so called profesinals, there respective clubs should be talking to each other and getting them together privately and spelling out the consequences.
JunkyardFree Memberprobably worth reading the LFC website and the apology
A very good move by them dso lets move onNaturally I will just let SBZ blaiming of Evra go now as I am sure he will be as quick to apologise and retract as he was to blame 😉
Lets hope this is the start of an improvement for all
yossarianFree MemberIt’s a twatting handshake.
If two players dislike each other why should they shake hands. More bullshit from FIFA & the FA.
They are both nobs, who cares whether they shook hands.
DezBFree MemberSuch a bunch of children. It’s just a shame that kids watch that crap and think that’s how adults are supposed to behave. Pro footballers are utterly pathetic.
mtFree Memberbeagle – Member
I care cos it gave the impression racial abuse is acceptableSpot on with that. The scum of the BNP use all situations like this.
voodoo_chileFree MemberWatch the replay of the handshakes evra hand is lowered all of a sudden as suarez goes towards him, suarez keeps his at the same level …..evra mind games… ……he also accused steve finnan a few years ago of the same thing ….evra and ferdinand go to take him out after 21 seconds and make themselves look as shite as they really are
SurroundedByZulusFree MemberWhat do you say – do we treat what people say on the Internet as serious and what they really think?
Yes – the law does, so I think I will too.
Naturally I will just let SBZ blaiming of Evra go now as I am sure he will be as quick to apologise and retract as he was to blame
No chance of that. I know what I saw.
slimjim78Free MemberHowever, didn’t Evra call him a ‘stupid south American’, arguably also racist, which seems to have got forgotten.
But Saurez hardly called Evra a ‘stupid French man’
Pointless point badly made.
gooner69Full MemberLooked carefully at all angles and evra lowers his hand. Suarez looks to be simply shaking all that are offered and clearly is uncomfortable as he isnt making eye contact with anybody.
I have no love or support for either of these two corrupt clubs, simply offering an unbiased opinion
aracerFree MemberNo chance of that. I know what I saw.
Is what you “saw” a bit like SMIDSY? How does what you “saw” tie up with what Suarez is now admitting to on your club’s website?
JonRFree MemberI think Suarez’ apology for not Shaking Evra’s hand probably puts the argument to bed.
higgoFree MemberLiverpool MD, Ian Ayre… “We are extremely disappointed Luis Suarez did not shake hands with Patrice Evra before yesterday’s game.
“The player had told us beforehand that he would, but then chose not to do so.
“He was wrong to mislead us and wrong not to offer his hand to Patrice Evra. He has not only let himself down but also Kenny Dalglish, his team-mates and the club.
“It has been made absolutely clear to Luis Suarez that his behaviour was not acceptable.”
Liverpool Manager, Kenny Dalglish… “I did not conduct myself in a way befitting of a Liverpool manager during that interview”
Liverpool player, Luis Suarez… “I have spoken with the manager since the game at Old Trafford and I realise I got things wrong”
Manchester United statement… “Manchester United thanks Liverpool for the apologies issued following Saturday’s game. Everyone at Old Trafford wants to move on from this.
The history of our two great clubs is one of success and rivalry unparalleled in British football. That should be the focus in the future of all those who love the clubs.”
I find it difficult to disagree with any of those statements.
davidjones15Free MemberLiverpool player, Luis Suarez… “I have spoken with the manager since the game at Old Trafford and I realise I got things wrong”
Where are Manchester United’s apologies?
Same place as yours probably.
SurroundedByZulusFree MemberYawn.
I’m sorry, but you really are a little bit sad.
I’ve been banned for less than that.
