I’ve decided to send the money I would have saved to charity anyway

It’s not our fault their system is rubbish, and the charity would have got some money from me, and from others from here.

Blimey. Someone passed you a voucher code you weren’t entitled to use and you’re bitter that they aren’t going to sit there and take a massive loss to keep a load of chancers happy?

Clearly their systems aren’t that rubbish, as someone’s clocked that order volumes have suddenly gone through the roof and put the brakes on 😀

Same reply here, and shipping in progress changed to cancelled.

It is, because lots of people used it who shouldn’t have.
I don’t think most people are that pee’d off, I’m not, but if someone is giving away £40, are you saying you’d refuse it?

I dont think they would have made a massive loss. I think they would have made a small profit.

Seems to be working fine.. stopped even thinking about it now.
Keep looking at expensive road wheels for it and a proper off road set.

    Email cancellation here too. 🙂
Decathlon are ace, fab store and products. I was almost head to toe Btwin during Tweedlove classic ride today. 45k of fun and over the bars hilarity.

There was nothing I wanted/needed so didn’t miss out

And for all of those who like to tell us how amazing you’re being by giving the £40 you saved to charity, well now you’re saving even more money now your order is being canceled, why don’t you give that to charity too? Of course make sure you tell us (I’m sure you will)

I think in this case, it’s a very obvious mistake, like the odd times when things get priced up at 29.99 instead of 299.99. Nobody got into work on Friday morning and said “I’m going to set our website up to give out free stuff”. It’s an honest mistake – if you used a cash machine after someone and they’d not collected their money would you consider that giving away free money?

I chanced it. I did quite fancy getting the heart rate monitor. But, I knew I was chancing it. To be honest, having looked at their website I will probably use them in the future. Some quite nice stuff at good prices. Cynically you could see it as crafty marketing. Likely not. Cest la vie.

Yep cancelled here also, Im not annoyed in the slightest, tbh I would have been pleasantly suprised if they had honoured it, I only ordered a cassette and chain.

No, because that’s different. It’s either the banks money or the person’s who left it there.
The code we used was to save £40. That’s what we did. It wasn’t a honest mistake on their part, it was poor testing and implementation.
I have no problem taking money from a company who can’t operate a working system or test things properly.
But I’m really not that fussed. If I was, I’d be insisting they honor the order confirmation email.

Can we all have a whip round and send richmars £40. I feel bad he has lost out due to Decathlons malfeasance.

Mines cancelled too. Now I know how the voucher code originated I’m actually glad TBH. I think Decathlons technical implementation of the voucher code as a prize was very poor from an e-commerce solution POV though!

You see it all the time on HDUK. The inexplicable rage when an order placed, using a voucher never intended for the recipient, gets cancelled.

You think STW has a lot of armchair lawyers. I guarantee you, the poor bastards at Decathlon CS department, will be getting inundated with copy and pastes of their T&Cs.Jamie can i have a link to the website as you know how much I love to copy and paste 😉

Felt bad anyway and I did a dead quick order before they cancelled so not that bothered tbh I was being cheeky they have declined

    Such is life

A single use voucher code that allowed multiple uses was their error which has caused them loads of work to cancel orders, CRC manage to make single-use codes.

Not bothered in the slightest about having my order cancelled, I suspected it was too good to be true, but by having the “confirmation email forms a contract” in their T+Cs sets them up for the armchair lawyers, who would probably win on that basis.

Also denied. Never mind, I may just buy some kit from them at full price.

Out of interest, how did the OP come to have the prize code. And why did he put it up?

    Friend/relative of the proper recipient?

    remoterob

I don’t see how the armchair lawyers can assume a win without knowing the terms and conditions applied to the voucher code. If it was stated to the original recipient that the code was to be used only once, and by them only, then any subsequent user doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

Cancellation email too. Worth a crack. But what **** wins a charity prize and shares it?!?!?!?

Anyone moaning, stop armchair lawyering, it was a gamble and a cheeky one at that. Pipe down.

I’d never looked at decathlon pre £40 voucher.
Placed 3 orders all of which were cancelled.
However, I have now ordered some of it full price.
Nice bit of publicity for Decathlon.

I’m so outraged, I’ve written to the charity. Hopefully, they will do what’s right, and reimburse me for the £40 that is rightfully mine.

On the way to work, I actually shouted at a kid and stole his shoes as it’s his fault I didn’t get my voucher or something.
