On the contrary. They’ll all absolutely love her narrative that she was ‘brought down by lefties’

The probably do, in a limited sense. She struggled to get anyone to turn up to listen to her talk didn’t she? From my, limited as I have some family in the US, the UK barely shows on their radar.

I will be keeping a vague eye out for it in charity/remainder shops. Whilst not keen to hand her any money I think it could be hilarious/depressing insight into the tufton street loons.

I have said this before and I think it rings true.  On top of being a “swivel-eyed loon” and thick as mince or a “Boxing Day turd” (C) Binners.  She always strikes me as the kind of person who was desperate to be popular at school in the sixth form – but never quite was.

“she could have a very long public grifting career here in the UK if she plays it right.”

I don’t think that’s right. Apart from Nigel Farage (the original and best), no-one has made a go of it in the UK. The populist grifter market is so.unstable. The problem is that there’s always someone more loopy and cheaper than you. Laurence Fox, Russell Brand, Dan Wootton…they’re all scrabbling around for the dregs of online audiences.

Obviously in the US you have to admit that Trump is a master. But apart from him and Alex Jones – think of how many others even in Trump’s orbit have come and gone, the bubble burst.

Also, the point about pandering to US wingnuts is not because she’ll sell a lot of books. It’s that these shadowy Koch-funded organisations have plenty of money to chuck around for speakers…and besides, who else is going to buy the advice of the unambiguously worst Prime Minister ever? It’s the only market remaining.

Apparently there’s a lot of money to be made being a right wing firebrand, especially in the US.

Indeed! Boris Johnson was exactly the same.

They’re so shallow and vacuous that they desperately seek affirmation. Yet they consistently miss, or more likely dismiss out-of-hand the most effective way of doing this … by being a decent human being. Neither of them had much interest in that.

One of Johnson’s aides said about him that he had no actual friends and that was because the more you got to know him, the less you liked him. I expect Truss is much the same

See the rest of my post that you clipped that statement from. That is, who she is connected with and the work they are doing to make the public political landscape more like the USA. What is to come… not what has been the case in the past.

I think Kelvin has it here. For being so useless, Truss remains an astonishingly well-backed outrider for certain wealthy American interests on the economically laissez-faire\libertarian end of the spectrum. For them, her only mistake was pulling the pin on that budget before the country was ready, and even then, there’ll have been lessons learned there.

The publishers are well aware that she’s a laughable figure in this country to all but a small band of swivel-eyed loons, so the book won’t sell at all here. We’ve all had quite enough of her shit

It  is aimed squarely at the US market, which is full of fat right/MAGA nutjobs who lap this shit up. They’re the few people stupid enough to believe her conspiracy theory nonsense

All funded by the Koch Brothers, IEA, Tuften st lobby groups, Peter Theil/ellen musk and the rest of the tech bros who want unfettered free markets, Libertarian lobby groups etc…etc.

This whole nonsense about unelected people is actually quite dangerous – it’s building on the “we’ve had enough of experts” narrative from Brexit and giving people the idea that anyone in any position of power needs to be elected.

Yet another one from the populist playbook.

Some unelected people, exercising their power…

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-67843755

Britain’s shortest-serving prime minister Liz Truss has unveiled her resignation honours list, sparking an angry backlash from some critics.

Ms Truss, who spent 49 days in office, nominated Conservative donor Jon Moynihan and ex-Vote Leave chief Matthew Elliott for seats in the Lords.

Ruth Porter, a former senior Truss aide, is also made a peer.

Willie Sullivan, senior director for campaigns at the Electoral Reform Society, said: “It will feel like an insult to many to see Liz Truss handing out peerages to friends and supporters after her disastrously short stint as prime minister.

“It looks like the political class dishing out rewards for failure at a time when many people are still suffering the effects from her turbulent premiership.”

Be interesting when they get rid of all the pesky interfering unelected civil servants and have no one to pay benefits and tax refunds, issue passports etc etc

I’m the opposite, I actually want to watch her as I’ve actually avoided her book launch madness other than the quotes out on here. Mostly anyway. I think it’s likely to be even more farcical in the flesh though.

Id love to know what the book sales will be like. It should be chased as fiction though surely?!

Lol, Peston just said the book’s title is “It Wasn’t Me.”😂

I’m putting the bins out after Truss has finished blaming the world for her demise. Fitting.

The brief delay before she answers the question is accompanied by a weird blinking then staring episode

Is someone talking in her ear? Is she a North Korean bot?

Is there a person in there?

I think she is exposing a lot of costly training in public speaking, it’s still an act she finds hard to keep up. The cheese brain is still in control really, hence the pause. It’s allowing time to translate between the cheese brain and how other normal people communicate.

If you listen carefully in the gap before she answers, you can hear the cogs and gears start whirring and clicking like an old cuckoo clock

Heres an interesting article in this mornings Guardian about the denial of Truss and the other Tufton Street cult members in the Tory Party

There’s a gaping hole at the centre of the Tory party where ideas should be. The risk is Liz Truss will fill it

I’ve never understood why Tufton Street chose her to be their representative on Earth. There must be at least some intelligent, engaging people willing to take their shilling to defend the indefensible?

Surely if there’s only 10 years to save the West, Truss, being the powerhouse of intellect she is, could do it in, say 7 years?

Regarding the robotic thing, could she be one of these in drag? Not just swivel eyed, total swivel head too.

Maybe someone should knock her over and she if she stands up in the same way the bot does? I’d pay to see it.

She’d probably see it as some sort of woke control of her freedom of speech. 🙄

Its precisely that. She wanted to tell the “truth” about the Bank of England woke communist leadership and so wouldnt be blocked by some pesky rules.

I love Ian Dunt. His appraisal of Truss is brutal

The broken psychology of Liz Truss

“Truss at first seemed like a joke. Hapless, ineffectual, politically vacuous, genuinely mad, hopelessly uncharismatic. She wasn’t even a bad politician. She was like a crude impersonation of a bad politician by a terrible actor. The layers of her inadequacy were endless. You would peel one away – principles, say, or policy – and then find another lying underneath: a Russian doll made of shite”
