Have you read the forum description?

Have you read the site description?

Based out of Europe, Singletrackworld delivers a daily dose of mtb news and opinion.

So according to the forum description motorbike chat is ok in the bike forum too

Taking an argument to it’s absurd limit doesn’t make it a valid point 😉

Yes but I was asking you about the forum.

Is the forum not part of the site?
    And the thread title;

Is STW a mountain bike site?

Is the forum not part of the site?

The site delivers what it says, they’re are 4 forums each one has a description to tell you what subjects are allowed in each.

So it’s a mountain bike site without a mountain bike forum?

So it’s a mountain bike site without a mountain bike forum?

It’s mountain bike magazine site with a forum for discussing bikes, a forum for chatting and 2 classified forums.

😯 Bloody hell, the MTB sub forums take up an entire page on BikeRadar, I thought they were threads!

Before the TdF started, I was still scrolling through pages of threads to find anything interesting, not being a car/property/child/pet owner kind of rules you out of a lot of stuff.

    Look at RCUK under forums.
    New to Cycling
    Training
Chain gang which is about training rides?
Those three catagories could be one.

And another thing, it’s nice knowing all the idiots are in one place.

So a mtb mag with a forum that has only 25% of it’s subsections for bike talk, and of that 25% only about 1/2 (on a good day) is about mtb 🙄

I wonder how RCUK would handle a MTB thread in the “bikes” forum?
I understand STWs position though. Unfortunately/embarrassingly for them the site has been swamped by roadies and they need the traffic so its unlikely they’ll do anything about it.

just give an ill informed opinion everyone else does 😉

Not only is it a mountain bike forum where people have (shock horror) road bikes soon the classified ads will be used to sell secondhand boxer shorts.

It’s a lot more than half and the amount of posts in the bike far out weighs the other forums.

The point that you seem to be missing is that even if the bike forum was 100% mtb it wouldn’t necessarily have more mtb talk in it.

Exactly. It’d just mean that more of the crap, less popular mtb-related threads would be visible on the front page.

Swamped is a rather massive exaggeration.

need the traffic so its unlikely they’ll do anything about it.

I’d confidently say they’d survive if the roadie posts were to end.

bike forum has less than 50% of total forum posts, so ‘far outways’ is simply incorrect both in spelling and conclusion……

Exactly, that’s what I said earlier. A roadie thread isn’t taking the place of a mountainbike thread it’s there as well as.

Is it because you want to talk about owning us without getting found out?

Ah resorting to abuse now, a classic sign of desperation. Please feel free to pick on my dyslexia I grew out of caring about that even before I left school.

Oh and I’ll add you were talking about the half being in the bike forum not overall, please be consistent if you’re going to try and prove a point.

I think the diversity on the forums (both ‘bike’ and ‘chat’) is great – usually just click on ‘overview’ and read whichever random threads catch my eye. Although at the moment, it’s making me chuckle at inappropriate times during a ministerial meeting, but it sure is keeping the boredom at bay!

It makes me laugh, has some pretty good debates, taught me more about bikes (of all sorts!), any bike-related technical question will always get answered (although no-one will ever agree what the answer is!), and I have learnt more than I probably ever wished to about the inner workings of the male mind 🙂

long may it continue … pretty much as it is!

    Why?

There should be a contest between the forums.
I would love to see a Pinkbike vs Singletrack forum users mtb day out, I think that would be most entertaining.
You could even bring your road bikes too.

Didn’t take long for someone to say “diversity”

Still waiting for someone to say how “enriched” the STW is with roady threads 😆

Roadies are alien and foreign to mountain biking, in a way no other strands of cycling are. Roadies are an entirely different breed. Cut down the middle and…well just cut them down the middle.

You’re in one camp or the other, anyone in both is confused and probably bisexual, which also explains the addiction to lycra.

I don’t understand this negative vibe toward people who do another form of cycling. Even-less do I understand this strange obsession with some that partaking in road cycling or wearing Lycra has an effect on your sexuality.

    Are you 12?

    Almost 12 yes

You ride road bycles, don’t you 😆

You don’t understand because you need to find a tarmac forum, then everything will become clearer and you’ll be more comfortable to come out and talk openly about lycra

If I want to ask about a Merino jersey is that road or mountainbike?

I have never seen a roady where merino, so I guess I’d allow that question. Authorised.

Never understood why they never used the ‘S’ for Specialized in their title.
