No, that wouldn’t achieve anything. They will be focusing on getting data to figure out how to set up for qualifying and the race, not headline times, but being that far off the pace is not part of their plan. Friday times don’t really mean much though, I’d be surprised if both Mercs weren’t in the top six in qualifying. I’d bet even money on at least one Merc being on the front row of the grid.
