I find threads like the Sue Perkins one more offensive.

It is a bit sad to read threads where middle aged men discuss on the internet whether they would or would not “do” a particular female. Whilst telling us this is some sort of freedom of expression issue and opressive to suggest they should perhaps refarain from this.

I’m familiar with the Alison Stokke story and it’s a sad reflection on a society that can’t differentiate between what’s real and what’s not. If you look for more Alison Stokke pictures, the ones that are available show, for me at least, that she is not that attractive. THE photo shows her at a particular moment in her sport where she looks, as an athlete, superb.

If a person willingly puts themselves in the public eye, then they must expect the consequences. But when they are thrust into the limelight against their own wishes, isn’t this wrong?

And a competing athlete in the current time and fashion of celebrity doesn’t expect to be thrown into the media spotlight, that’s being a bit naïve, isn’t it?

I’m not too sure what you’re referring to as being appropriate or acceptable.
Beautiful women are used to sell to men.
Beautiful women are used to sell to women.
We are surrounded by images of the people we are supposed to look like.
Images are taken from sports and held up as how we should be.
Why is it that Alison Stokke is the only person to have received this type of treatment. Is it unfeasible to think that it might have been a savvy attempt at promoting her image? Just a thought.

Consenting to have your image used for all you mention is not the same as having it used sexually against your will. Some people – say jordan – seem comfortbale with this others are not.

IMO, once(and IF) you agree to have your image published, it’s not possible to place conditions on what individuals will do with it once they get their (hairy palmed) hands on it

(sadly, the same is true of pics you haven’t consented to)

But, you know what, I don’t actually think this Forum is the place for this stuff. I’m no feminist and I’m not gay but do feel that if people want this, there are other places.

What happens is, as usual, the line gets crossed and you blokes almost become competitive as to who can post the most sleazy pic.

Naturally these types of posts do nothing to encourage girlies to frequent the Forum. Your loss I say – who could not fail to be charmed by our fragrance, presence and joie de vivre?

Once an photo is taken you can not control how people will view it or how they will use it in the privacy of their own homes, as has been said on the other thread, perhaps it’s not the photo that is the problem. 😉
As I said earlier, I think that THE photo is a fantastic photo of an athlete being an athlete, nothing sexy, nothing more.

yes i know that. It is why I said earlier that we were discussing whether it was appropriate or acceptable. Technically a paedo [ or anyone as we are in a public place] could take pics of my kids when i walk to the park and do what they want with the images but I may not approve of what they do …should I stay indoors to avoid this?

Thing is, it’s evident on the A+A thread and on some other threads today, that some folk still aren’t getting what the forum rules mean, and think it’s ok to post pics that they think are ok, without respecting the fact that others might find them inappropriate or offensive.

The way I see it, is don’t post owt that you would think inappropriate for a child to see, and you’re probbly alright. A picture of a lady in her pants might be ok, or not, depending on the context of the image. I think it just need a moment’s thought, and consideration for others, before hitting the submit button.

personally i don’t look at A&A or Kylie threads as they are always the same pictures and frankly are boring now, surely the fans of the thread have the pics saved on their hard drives anyway?

CharlieMungus – I have only very quickly skimmed this thread but TJ starts off by saying he disagrees with pics being posted of scantily clad women. We will never all agree on this topic BUT we all have the opportunity of posting up our point of view.

Why not have a read through it, look at the various arguments etc, and decide for yourself? There might be a point of view hidden away in there which you might not yet have considered. Just an idea, like, you know…
