Weight loss – 5.2kg in one week!

its not my fault though.
I’m not so sure. Have you identified the type of muscle fibre that you are made up of?
Would you say you are a natural sprinter or couch potato?
Are you on the idave variant diet where you’re allowed to ovelook certain elements that are prohibited, but it doesn’t really matter, does it?
There could be a list as long as your arm that will allow you to pass the buck.
Do you have long arms?
Is one longer than the other?
It really is a jungle out there, so be careful kids and wear a helmet.
HTH.TheSouthernYetiFree MemberI think that I’m too muscular to be an endurance triathlete and should instead be a mens magazine cover model or world class boxer. The problem is that not only can I not get any lighter, I couldn’t be any uglier and I really don’t like being hit.
I also enjoy exercise so I’m concerned that I can’t really call it training. Could this be the problem? If I didn’t enjoy it would that make me better at it?
philconsequenceFree MemberHave you identified the type of muscle fibre that you are made up of?
yes. i had to cut through a fair amount of white stuff that looks like marshamllow to get to it, but i can confirm its pink and bleedy.
Would you say you are a natural sprinter or couch potato?
IM DIFFERENT. i’m a natural sprinter but i use recovery films to ensure i’m ok to go again the next month.
Are you on the idave variant diet where you’re allowed to ovelook certain elements that are prohibited, but it doesn’t really matter, does it?
why yes, yes i am…. allow me to explain. i avoid processed white carbs, apart from when i’m really hungry and can’t be bothered to prepare something for myself. or if i wander to tescos at lunchtime and the sandwiches look tasty. i use milk in my morning coffee but sweetener not sugar. if i’m offered pudding i’ll say yes more often than not. i like to eat biscuits at work when nobodies looking. today i had 6 biscuits, 1 boiled sweet, a punnet of strawberrys, an eccles cake, a protein shake, half a tin of tuna with sweet chilli sauce and a small fudge. its what works best for me i’ve discovered.
There could be a list as long as your arm that will allow you to pass the buck.
Do you have long arms?yes, being taller than yeti, deadly and jamie i’m a natural long-armer.
Is one longer than the other?
only when its hot.
It really is a jungle out there, so be careful kids and wear a helmet.
HTH.DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO!, I’M DIFFERENT!
and now, the long awaited after pic:
philconsequenceFree Memberit is 3d, you just haven’t paid the £2.75 extra to see the 3d version, chances are you’re the kinda guy who’d not put the glasses in the bin on the way out the cinema, i can tell these things
did you notice my jacket, i can remove the arms by zip.
winner winner chicken dinner.
JunkyardFree Memberi noticed your rather action man like frontal area?
Do you tuck it under or was nature unkind?donsimonFree Memberwinner winner chicken dinner.
This expression gives me great enjoyment. Thanks.
nick1962Free MemberLouisa lost 1 stone 8lbs in 3 months and never even posted on this thread.Reminds me of that “Ricky” bird of Eastenders.
molgripsFree Memberdoesn’t want to get up early enough
Thanks for calling me lazy. Did you read the link I posted on the subject?
goes out at 10pm to ‘train’
Why can’t you train at 10pm?
Phil can you explain to me the difference between a reason and an excuse?
I can’t fly, I have no wings. Is that an excuse?
molgripsFree MemberActually **** it, you win.
I’m a snivelling **** who’s desperately trying to blame everyone and everything else for failure. I’d rather clutch at scientific straws for excuses than face facts.
Happy now? After two days of trying to explain myself and stick up for myself I’m now thoroughly pissed off and upset. Think what the **** you like.
I hope I never meet some of you in real life, cos if that’s really me I’d be embarassed as hell.
JunkyardFree MemberI have not had a go at you tbh I barely know what the thread is about
TheSouthernYetiFree MemberI have not had a go at you tbh I barely know what the thread is about
That’s no excuse not to have a pop at someone else. I don’t care if you’re ill… GTF on with it.
JunkyardFree MemberYeti you self obsessed narcissistic meat head gym freak
happy now ?
TheSouthernYetiFree MemberThat’s my boy!
I hope that’s how you imagine me to be in real life as when we meet you’ll realise I’m a chubby shy loser.
All the awesomeoness is still going on in my head though.
ransosFree MemberI would like to see a change to this forum where OPs are allowed to close their own threads
Hah! Is anyone going to answer the OP’s question?
jota180Free MemberUpset is good Molly, you can only move in a positive way now
Right, you want to race MTBs with reasonable results?
It ain’t going to happen this yearTake the next 9 months or so to ride your bike a lot more, like every day
Enjoy it, take the family along sometimes, stop at a pub for a beer occasionally.
Eat sensibly with an aim to lose that 10kg you say you need to drop, weigh yourself every Monday morning and adjust your activity/food intake to suit how you’re progressing
You want a cake and a latte? Fine, go out and earn it first with an extra hours hard exercise, it’ll taste better too.
Next March, take stock of you achievements and start some proper training.cinnamon_girlFull MemberI guess this thread could be construed as internet bullying. 😐
*very disappointed with TSY and philconsequence cos they seem so nice in real life*
*hugs to molgrips as he is genuinely nice in real life*
Worry not, I’ve closed the door behind me.
JamieFree MemberWorry not, I’ve closed the door behind me.
Yeah, but you are hiding behind it with a glass on the door.
*whispers about CG*
TheSouthernYetiFree MemberSorry C_G but I just didn’t think he needed mollycoddling any longer.
Hopefully he’ll pull his finger out and prove us all wrong.
molgripsFree MemberNot sure which is worse, the character assaults or the patronising.
I appreciate the sentiment though jota, thanks.

I guess this thread could be construed as internet bullying.+1. C’mon everyone, give this a break. Its really not very pleasant.
philconsequenceFree MemberHappy now?
no, i want you to win races…. i think you’ve got the potential to, you say its a dream of yours, i think you can do it… just gotta get round to actually doing it!
i even started a thread asking parents about how they win races and balance family life/jobs hoping to find some advice i could bring to this thread…., and there was lots of people on there saying its possible.
but never mind.
genuinely look forward to the day you start a thread titled “I WON!!!” ….. but i suppose people being blunt and honest about how much it takes to train to win races isn’t accepted unless its paid for and shouted at you by a trainer.
oh well
molgripsFree MemberBut Phil, I don’t need bluntness and honesty. I understand all about effort, commitment and denial. I’ve never claimed these things aren’t necessary.
All I’ve been trying to do is talk about why it’s difficult for me in my situation. You all then assumed I was making excuses.
TheSouthernYetiFree MemberI really don’t understand what response you expected Molly?
If you want something bad enough you find ways of getting around the obstacles. You can then share with others how you’ve gone about over coming them.
philconsequenceFree Memberi always try to be honest molly, and if being honest means coming across in a blunt way… then that’s something i have to deal with if people take it as a personal insult.
i do mean what i say when i say i think you could win races, and i think (as shown by the other thread) that its something you could realistically achieve with the right training/balancing with being a good dad.
i also meant what i said a few pages back about exercising for your health, not just winning races, its more time to spend on this planet with your daughter 🙂
and i also meant it when i said i was worried about your ‘i find my body disgusting’ comments, having spent years around eating disorders and having grown up in a family where everyone else in the household was dieting and going on about how they hated their bodies… no matter how many times your parent/s say ‘but you’re beautiful the way you are’ etc etc, it rubs off on the kids and they develop their own issues. its something i know from both personal and professional experience. your daughter is probably the most beautiful thing in the world to you, but if she grows up with a dad who describes his body as disgusting there’s a fair chance it’ll rub off on her, no matter how beautiful she is.
again, i genuinely mean it when i think you could win races with the right effort, training, time etc etc, and i think you sound like a great dad. if this has all come across as blunt, then apologies… but i’m being honest. i like my relationships with other’s to be based around honesty.
philconsequenceFree Membercheers junky
(i’m assuming those little stars mean you think i’m a star)
emszFree MemberNot sure which is worse, the character assaults or the patronising.
All I’ve been trying to do is talk about why it’s difficult for me in my situation. You all then assumed I was making excuses.
But none of the advice is patronisng though is it, it’s been the same simple statement all the way through. Stop giving in to cake (you’ve admitted that’s what you do) and find time to exersize loads of people have given you loads of ways that they do it, and given you examples of how much effort it takes them to get anywhere in races. we all struggle like you, I’ll bet very few people on here are naturally good, we all work/go to college, we all have the same weather, and time issues.
Molly, none of us are any different to you really, ok we all are different shapes and whatever, I get to see my gf for just the weekend, I could bore you with all the arguments we’ve had about me running for 2 hours every sunday morning with the club when we haven’t seen each other all week. I struggle with fags the same as you struggle with cake ok? I sympathise with you. Chris my housemate loves beer, he can get through 10 a session easy, hence having to do a 1500cal diet LOL He’s got a 1st team rugby shirt pinned on the wall above the fridge, just to remind him why he does it.
I think you need to give yourself some time, and space away from the “training”! first to loose some weight and then to see your going the right way, but pick a method, give it a year at least (it takes ages to loose weight), and then see what happens, rather than jump from one thing to another and another.
love (lots) really
Amelia
molgripsFree MemberWell thanks for the kind words, really. But really, it’s all obvious stuff. And remember it’s not my thread, all I did was chip in then try and defend myself when people started mis interpreting my posts.
I’ve trained for years, with some successes, but without consistency. I am fully aware of what it means to ride for fun and to train and race. I’ve had all this in my mind for years and I do understand it. Saying eat less cake and do more riding is not really useful as it’s just too obvious, I don’t need reminding. I don’t eat cake because I’m unaware of the consequences.
I could give up trying, but I don’t want to. As long as I am able I will keep trying to get what I want, and I will certainly face problems along they way.
I do think we are all on a spectrum of different body types, this is starkly clear; and I think I am not in the middle of it. I do try to work to my strengths, and I do try to adjust what I do to find out what works for me. There’s no point following the same plan as everyone else when it doesn’t work quite right for me, is there?
As for eating a normal healthy diet and riding for fun – do you think I’ve never tried that in 20 years of biking? I don’t try diets just for fun, I need to understand why I still weigh too much despite riding and healthy eating.
And the disgusting body thing was not meant the way you think. It makes me cross with myself that I have failed where so many others have succeeded, that is all.
emszFree MemberSaying eat less cake and do more riding is not really useful as it’s just too obvious
Don’t understand what you mean by too obvious??
Molly, pretty much everyone who’s every been sucessful atlosing weight and getting fitter does It because of these “obvious” things.
molgripsFree MemberDon’t understand what you mean by too obvious??
As in I am already well aware of the principle, but it doesn’t really answer all the questions.
Doing more riding is also one of the things I am not really in a position to do. So I need to make the time that I do have really count.
Which is where the targetted training comes in.
I rode with a bloke in the US who had done 7,400 miles riding that year so far, including a 7 hour turbo trainer session. He was much slower than me on my thousand or so miles this year.
So ‘ride more’ doesn’t necessarily benefit you even if you have the time.
jota180Free MemberI need to understand why I still weigh too much despite riding and healthy eating.
You miscalculated or lied to yourself
So ‘ride more’ doesn’t necessarily benefit you even if you have the time.
it does for 99.9999999999999999% of the population
Stop it now and behave yourself, you could have had all this sorted if you hadn’t spent so long over-analysing it
TheSouthernYetiFree MemberFFS… this will never end.
Mol – yes it’s hard. But sometimes you have to do the obvious things… or just stay the way you are.
molgripsFree Memberit does for 99.9999999999999999% of the population
Quality not quantity.
Do junk miles if you want, I ‘m not going to.
Done it before, was not happy with the results. But I was probably wrong, being shit for brains.
JamieFree MemberWhat questions doesn’t it answer?
Questions like: Why would one not lose weight, when they bookend a 20mile ride with enough maltodextrin to raise the nation’s obesity rate by several percentage points.
