Got a huge love of Ti watches myself.
Lovely blue (see a very recent watch factors thread on these) and super clean dial – nice.

I’ve been hunting for something visually different to my black dialed PO. tried the latest SMP in blue but the blue is quite dark, very dark if the lighting isn’t vibrant. This on the other hand has a lovely bright blue in all lights. Like the super clear and clean tool watch look too. very VERY happy with it!

Rather a funny article in Vice about posh watches. Not sure most on here would entirely agree with the sentiment, but made me chuckle. 😁

    That Vice article is brilliant..

Now..as a man who likes posh/££ watches, I don’t think the whole ‘idea’ of a pricey watch is terrible. but THOSE pricey watches are gopping!!

Hadn’t realised he wasn’t well, I only use a few bits of the forum. Wally the tz thread about the pelagos, I’m in it heavily (London Neil) and i got mine from sales corner.

The original Seiko 62MAS is one of the prettiest dive watches I have come across. A few companies are doing homages. Seiko have updated it but is out of the price range of mere mortals. Tried putting up a pic of the original but cant seem to manage it.

Yes. Thanks tthew that’s an absolute beauty IMO. Very understated. Apparently the diameter of those originals is only 37mm.

@Athgray YouTube channel Just One More Watch does a review of a 62mas homage by San Martin. It’s really nice. I’d go for one of those of you like that style.

Sas78, I have seen that San Martin review. That’s where I first saw the Seiko. The San Martin might have to go on the Xmas list.

JOMW also reviews another Seiko 62 MAS homage by 54 watches, but I prefer the San Martin.

Sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel insert. It’s a nice watch. I like the slight spearmint colours, indices are big but not overly massive. I also like the simple hands on it.

I say this not normally being a fan of divers.

Three things put me off the San Martin.

    1. Squared off hands. Especially on a diver.
    2. The lazy logoing – SAN MARTIN. They have a logo:

This would have made the face so much classier than arial caps or whatever it is.

    3. The plain crown looks cheap. At least have SM stamped on it.

    Other than that…

50 years of Seiko ownership. The one on the left is from 1970 when I lived in Singapore. I’m not sure when Seiko’s were available in the UK, so popular with the Brits

The 62MAS reissue had a cheaper “brother” that might still be available?

It’s a shame about the hands on that Seiko. Nothing like the 62MAS.

As athgray says, those hands are a real mistake, they just don’t belong with that face design, it should have hands more like the Marine Master 300.
Anyhoo, my Tuna homage arrived yesterday, and I’m chuffed to bits with it. It’s really nicely put together, the shroud is black rather than raw steel, which I think looks better, and I’m giving the rubber strap a try; every strap of that sort I’ve tried in the past has left my wrist red and itchy, but after two days it’s fine, perhaps because it’s got the concertina sections in it, so more breathable, or maybe just a different material, it certainly feels softer, I’ll see how it goes.

I can’t comment on accuracy, it far too soon, I’ll give it a week or two to get a better idea, but after two days it seems to be keeping good time; the hackable NH35 Seiko movement makes like much easier for sure.

A good friend of mine showed me one of her watches that had just come back from the jewellers – I nearly fainted when I found out how much it cost!!

Around that… real ones anyway. I have suspicions of the one in the photo. The numerals aren’t quite right – the counters on the 8 and 4 are too large. The polished outer bevel of the bezel looks too steep (could be the photo) and overal finish doesn’t scream AP quality to me (for example there are bevels missing on the crown guards from what I can see)

On another note, your photos still aren’t working Neil.

You know much more about the royal oak than i do then, beyond recognising the fugly lump and knowing its rare as rocking horse poo and absurdly expensive I know little. I prefer the PP aquanaut for that kind of look…but again I’ll probably never own one so I don’t hanker after it or know a great deal! I did see a watchfinder vid on youtube last week that suggested the royal oak saved the swiss watch industry, nice video, they always are from watchfinder.

Interesting to hear people that are into the details that much, they spot things like this.

Fake or real though, it’s still an ugly nut 🙂

The 8 and 4 match that link better than the example I was comparing too earlier – possibly an earlier/later variation. If I’m wrong on the fugazi call I apologise!

And yes, it’s a fugly watch lol

That Audemars Piguet is gopping! I honestly can’t see how those ‘screws’ around the bezel are supposed to work, there’s a slot, supposedly for a screwdriver, but they’ve got a hex head set into a hexagonal hole; seems utterly ridiculous/pointless to me.
But then, it does seem that the more expensive fashion watches become, the uglier and less practical they become as well. Talk about a fool and his money…
As an aside, I’ve checked the timekeeping of my new ‘Tuna’, and from Monday morning when I got it, until the same time today, it had gained about eight seconds, which seems pretty good to me.
I’ll see how it does over a couple of weeks.

I can guarantee that the AP watch is not a fake…. Present from her husband (and they have a £20k fridge!)

I agree it’s an acquired taste but actually looks better in real life than in the pic!
    I can’t say it’s particularly reliable though!!

Not so sure about “a fool and his money” in this case; the Offshore is pretty “hot” at the moment, and is probably appreciating in value.

Anyway, sod the AP, I want to see a £20k fridge!

    Tuna looks great btw CountZero
