I don’t know what they are buying from North Korea etc (briefly read this a while back on some news which sounded like the war was already been “won”)

Okay, they are running out of ammunition and they are weak.

Why not just match in to stop them as winter is approaching?

Because marching into another country is against all sorts of laws?

They don’t look like well trained forces etc … but again that’s Russia forces (as we known them to be) but for some reasons they managed to defeat two major forces in the past.

    And lost several since?

Sounds like we are going to prepare for long cold winter then.

    And lost several since?

Actually, I think they lost most of their “wars” but for some reasons when it comes to the major wars affecting their motherland, they always won.

    My Troll-O-Meter is pinging.

We have a new poster who is posting all sorts of badly punctuated and grammatically weird takes, not to mention sharing a Turkish government funded news outlet. They seem rather fond of repeating the term “virtue signalling” re not just Ukraine but also outdoors kit too.

A really bizarre choice for a forum member to cite.

We also have our usual “alternative facts” chap chiming in too.

What a time to be alive.

Urgh, this kind of ‘Russia-stronk’ nonsense is why I stayed out of this thread in the early days, oh well, it’s been fun.

I wouldn’t worry, they’ve literally made no difference whatsoever.

And the line of attack, as I’m sure you well know, is being pushed widely at the minute so it was inevitable it’d end up here at some point. It’s just a desperate “oh, nothing else has worked” thing.

Time will tell how things will pan out.

In the meantime, I think it will be a freezing winter if price of gas, due to Ukraine/Russia War, continues to increase.

Personally, I can’t be arsed to read the news coz they are all the same. i.e. “We win you lose or you lose we win etc …”

Strangely seems to involve massive losses, together with financial and/or military assistance from the West.

As if they care. They are Russians.

Yes, they got some of their technologies from the West so did Japan(since the time of Shogun).

It’s also irrelevant, as no-one is marching on Moscow. The only reason that was punted out there is to get a bite.

There seems to be a lot of “what ifs” and conjecture about the Russian military.

    Quite.

They have nuke otherwise they would be a walk over.

However, the West/NATO are generally very good at planning, technological advanced, very discipline etc but somehow this makes me think why the Russians are not that bothered or afraid yet.

    … to get a bite.

Erh? No, I don’t do that. Not me. Waste of time. Life is too short etc.

Obviously pinch of salt and could just be a handful of soldiers, but it seems news of Kharkiv is undermining russian morale

That rumour is still doing the rounds. US General Ben Hodges on the Mriya Report allegedly confirming.

There seems to be a mutiny brewing in the political ranks among Putin’s municipal deputies. A petition calling for his resignation, originally signed by 19, now 30.

Do they want him gone to stop the war, or install someone they think will be a better military tactician so it can be turned around/won?

I think we assume the former, but I’d like to be reassured.

Have the Ukraine and Boris Johnson threads somehow been jumbled?

I don’t think there’ll be a good outcome, it’s more a case of hoping for the least worst.

A defeat for Russia can easily lead to a rise in bitter ultra nationalism. Probably why Poland is eyeing up 500 Himars, probably had enough of being invaded by lunatic neighbours.

Putin has hollowed out of the institutions needed to support a democracy- free press, impartial judiciary, credible political opppsition etc. If he goes then another autocratic regime will take his place, as Russia is simply not capable of being anything else in it’s current state. It would take a very (very!) special set of events to allow the re-installation of the workings needed for a tenable democracy

I suspect it will be this now that they know that they have too many fat salaried generals that are there for payroll only (hence they are not bothered when they are killed etc), and if pride of their nation takes precedent then the next person will be much competent than Putin.

I smell bot. Strange syntax, not answering questions put to ‘it’, spouting pre prepared statements and stats. We’ve had this before on the forum.

Well that’s me told. I did have a very strange tea of haloumi and onion bahjis followed by blackberry and apple crumble.  Maybe that explains Why I’m ‘brainwashed’ and ‘can’t cope with real life’.  Makes you think….

Mate you have a very odd way of writing, that has a passing resemblance to some clever AI posts we’ve had on here before.  That and your low post count before diving into contentious posts made me suspicious. I now  concede from your latest shouty, abusive diatribe that you may not be a bot, even if you have the social skills of one.

They are too deep into the war so asking Putin to stop the war can be suicidal.
Overthrowing him comes at at risk unless they are absolutely certain.
Convincing him it is a bad war can only work if there are some good concessions to be had.
Alternatively is to let the nature takes it course on their generals. i.e. let the generals get filter out by their own failure with their lives.

Therefore, pressure Putin to get “better” generals might be the least risky option of all the above.

My wife, who works in AI developing IT service desk bot type stuff, had a peek and reckons badly scripted bot, by someone who doesn’t have a great grasp of English language grammar and syntax 😂

She also reckons ‘chewk’ has been scripted by two different people, which is why he appears to have a split personality with obviously different language skills…
