Ton,saw this post a few weeks back.I’ve just realised I’ve got the Friday off from work which means I can drive up from West Lancs Friday & stay Fri / Sat night so if there’s a place left I’ll take it.
I’ll bring my Halfords http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/psa-halfords-cx-bargain-250 bargain CX bike!

If you’re serious, I think I’ve got a pair of 29er wheel with rim brake surfaces. Still not sure if we’re going to make this, would very much like to come but Mrs NBT’s having some trouble with her legs at the moment 🙁

Busta I am heading up from Lancs so we may be able to share a lift

NBT I may be serious depends on how trough it actually is as basically I have a road bike or an Orange 5 or a SS.

All looking good to me. I suppose I’d better remind my legs what hills are, I’ve only been riding the flatlands since December.

Junkyard, the offer of my 29er still stands. I have some spare CX tyres or 1.75″ Marathon Mondials that would fit.

Tony, where is my guess at the day 1 route wrong?

All this talk of tyres on road bikes is putting me off. How much ‘offroad’ is there exactly? I was banking on taking a basic Spesh Allez (cos that’s the only roadie type bike I possess) Or should I HT it???

colin, from wigtown. was gonna follow the road nearer the river cree.

jim, the offroad is forest tracks…..ok on a touring tyre like i said.
    or a h/tail with slicks.
i have some 26” marathons if you want to borrow em.

There’s about 8 miles of forest road cycle route 7 from Clatteringshaws to Loch Trool – that is all – nothing else so don’t get worried. but as this is a forest road it can often get rather cut up by forestry vehicles and weather – Last november i had a warm showers guest staying for a couple of days and i plotted him a 100m+ route through the best of Galloway (he was used to massive adaux’s so 100m was easy for him) and it included the section above – he was on 25mm road tyres fitted to a Genesis CDF and found that section very rough/stony in sections and quite cut up in places but as long as he took it real slow he was ok – apart from the punctures :(.

He loved the route btw but said he would definitely have preferred larger section tyres for the forest road, and for most of the roads to be honest.

Can only do the Sat @ at push, working @ 6pm!
I fancy coming along after work Fri, riding Sat just to meet y’all and Ton who I’ve not seen since a ride at Kirby Thingy organised by a former STWer who has since passed away, D-Jay 😥
came across an e-mail when I was arranging to meet him and his mates over in Osmotherly the other day which reminded me of Ton and that wet day we met!! 😐
If I plan it right I can be there for around 8. But! My old man isn’t keeping well atm so will need to be a last min decision.

Hi all.. I’ll be ridin my disc Shand stoater with marathon racer tyres… But could bring either, or both, of the following spare bikes for people who want something a bit more rugged than a std road bike

    Both size med.
Singular swift, fully rigid, flat bars, 10sp.
Charge filter cross bike, discs, file tread cross tyres but could put something narrower on. Actually, this is a small… But feels like a med. Could easily run a smaller stem for someone shorter.

    I’m 5’8″
