If the kids that are out on the street burning stuff had actually had some investment in their education interest in their education then they’d realise how bloody stupid they are being

    I’ve only read pages 1,2 & 26-28.

    There are 2 main camps

1 – the useless f@>>£R camp where the yoofs have sponged of the welfare state so long that a short sharp caning with a water cannon should send them back under their rock. They’ve failed the system.

2 – the lack of investment camp where the yoofs have become an underclass due to lack of investment in education, opportunity and community support. The system has failed them.

    Or not

I could be completely wrong (and according to my wife usually am).

“The system has failed them” No their parents and they themselves have failed, less of the buck passing 🙂

    1. Get this sorted quick and fast.

    2. Look at the underlying cause, which yes lies with problems with Society etc etc. This includes investment, boot camps (apparently the right wing approach), nicely nicely cuddly touchy feely poor you approach (left wing)

The welfare state has fed her well. She should have joined the looting of Evans – she could do with some cycling from the looks of her.

I’m taking it the people who are expressing views about the ‘feckless unemployed’ haven’t spent any time unemployed themselves recently? And I hope you never do

Believe me, the reality of life on benefits is about as far removed from the Daily Mails depiction of a nice cushy layabout lifestyle as it is possible to get. Its soul destroying!!!

Then why are all the minimum wage jobs filled by Poles, Romanians, Afghans and pretty much every nationality you can think of, rather than the young English people who are in such abject poverty on benefits?

These people come across the whole of Europe, for a wage that our own yoof cannot be arsed getting out of bed for!

Kids running wild on the streets, calls for the police to batter them.

If only there was someone to protect the yoof:

Believe me if you’d have physically touched those children I would have protected them.

Because unlike honest binners the feckless really know how to play the system and make money on the side.

I was on the dole once. I start shudder thinking about it. In the Job centre in Kilburn/London with the fecker behind the desk saying ‘so why are you here and what will you do to find work’?

Talked to me like I’d never worked or wanted to. Lowest.

Unfortunately, my wife deals with dross every day of her life, and she says unfortunately after a while you switch off and just do your job because they have no respect for you, dont interact with you, cant interact with you etc etc.

Always nice to reply “Keeping you in a job, so thank me.” 😀

Yeah a friend used to work in the Bradford dole office and said he just had to sit there signing form after form, giving money away to people he knew were cheating the system. One occasion he told me of a guy who walked in telling him the dole money he had just collected had blown out of his hand outside the post office and needed an emergency payment. My mate had to authorise it.

Funky later on I received a letter saying I wasn’t entitled to receive unemployment benefit but possibly income support with a letter to follow in a few weeks. I just went out from 8am to very late until I got a job.

So enfit and the others who hate my / elfs/ Ernies analysis two questions.

    1) why has this happened?
    2) how to prevent it happening again?

    1) because the rule of law broke down when the police demonstrated that they were not prepared to stop it in its early stages – so a group of ignorant people with a self indulgent, self righteous, false sense of victimhood then realised that the police were no more prepared to stand up to them than their parents and teachers have been – they are doing it simply because they are being allowed to.

    2) react with overwhelming police force and swift and punitive justice (including prosecution of parents)in the early stages.

They are disrespectful, thieving, opportunistic, lazy, selfish, greedy bastards.

So are the media, the bankers and the politicians. Actually you could aim a fair bit of that at the middle classes too couldn’t you?

What happened last night was an expression of our society. Like it or not it is actually up to us to sort this out. No-one else will. Prevention is always better than cure right? Yes, prosecute those involved and deter others from starting but creating conditions in communities where young people actually see a point to living with respect towards each other that doesn’t rely on weapons and violence is fundemental.

We’ve got a chance now. After this and the news international stuff there’s clear evidence that our structure has failed for those at the bottom whilst those at the top get richer. It needs to be changed or this will keep happening. What we saw last night was significant. It was a message to the police – WE ARE NOT SCARED OF YOU. If the only response is force then we are sowing the seeds for more of the same.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/6359363.stm

    Thats where we start.

Oh and it doesn’t matter who’s fault it is.

This is the best post so far. But what has been the ultimate cause? Is it capitalism? Will the system that gave us freedom and aspirations ultimately be our downfall? What are the alternatives and how can we undo the damage that’s been caused to the young generation? I think these events are simply the zeitgiest, but are currently overshadowing the other major issue here which is the impending economic collapse. There are definitely hard times ahead and likely worse to come.

You reckon? The only people who actually used Sure Start round here were the middle class mums who wanted to take their toddler to a well organised group. The people it was aimed at didn’t use it as that would involve leaving the house.

My wife says there’s some very “deserving” (read crap) mothers who used the local sure start group here. Just for the record.

And on a general note, it is possible to be liberal/blame the Tories for this mess and still want to see tear gas and rubber bullets deployed you know.

Listening to Radio 4 at lunchtime I had to laugh – Cable was there saying “We’ll catch all these criminals and punish them as seems fit”

The Police are having severe cutbacks, forensics won’t be paid for, govt were talking of scrapping CCTV, Prisons are overflowing/being closed – so what is the actual deterrent?

Just an observation that will likely see me flamed but I thought it was striking that the Camden residents looting were mainly black whilst those in the clean up vid were predominately white. Why? Is the split representative of employment, wealth, opportunity, role models, community blah blah. I don’t know, but why is there such a clear difference?

Trying not to stereotype and very aware of how this may read.

No- I meant because it’s a possible insight into the mindset of these people. Once you can understand that then you can start to address the problem. I’m still at the stage where I can’t fully understand it.
