Jezza has plenty of money – I’m sure he can afford to compensate them for any losses they’ve incurred as a result of him breaking his contract.

Didn’t do “Have I Got News…” any harm after Angus Deayton got caught stuffed up to his jollies in coke and hookers…

Deayton wasn’t the main draw though was he? Both Hammond and May defer to Clarkson/play lesser characters.

Whereas the comedy/scriptwriters, Hislop and the bloke who thinks hes still funny along with guest panel stars usually from comedy do carry the show a massive way.

Who could guest present then act slapstick at the sametime on TG?

It’ll turn more into what I want….. a car show for petrolheads. Thus playing into my hands muhaah hahahaha

I’ve worked in plenty of jobs over the years where there’s been a wild card who brings in shitloads of cash for the business, so is allowed to get away with more. Don’t like it? Leave. Want the same privileges/freedoms? Bring in as much money as he does.

Just to be clear, you reckon if there’s someone in your workplace hitting people, you reckon the options are a)leave, or b)do better to earn the privilege of hitting people too?

Yeah strange that a few weeks after Clarkson tweets for a new presenter and a few days before signing a new 3 year contract it’s all off
because someone called Oisin Tymon said there was no cake… or pudding… or dinner
whilst they were in Newcastle 😆
Almost like he had a more favourable contract elsewhere, away from Beeb producers

bet that doesn’t involve striking work colleagues though, the company would be leaving themselves open one almighty court settlement.

    In a heartbeat,

    *swoon*

    ….but I don’t think he’d be a good fit for TG.

Channel5’s Classic Car show is ace BTW.

As is Chasing Classic Cars show on freeview.

Sadly both are firmly about cars. 😀

Merton and Hislop also couldn’t stand him

Interesting to see even the guardian now pointing out that the BBC may have mucked up big style by canning the programmes

Ie. they have already sold the TV rights to the current series, and contracted to provide all sorts of countries with X number of new episodes… plus of course most of those TV companies will have signed advertising deals on the basis of ‘new episode of top gear’ ‘last in series’ etc. That the BBC are now going to have to compensate for!

Also suggests that Clarkson may not be a BBC employee, so it’s uncertain as to how their HR policies regards suspension etc. might actually apply to him – lawyers will be laughing themselves hoarse!

A bit OT. Is that a real name?

EDIT. Answered me own question. It’s Irish. I’ll go back to bed.

I must disagree with you about Chasing Classic Cars, Wayne Carini is a miserable bastard with all the screen presence and charisma of a potato.

And, while I’ve enjoyed C5’s Classic Car Show for the lovely cars, Jodie Kidd is the most wooden presenter in the history of TV.

Hmm, petrolhead presenters… I have 2 words to send a shiver down the spine:

Good shout Hora. Was watching that this afternoon where a guy bought back a Ferrari he’d previously owned in the 70’s for around $950,000, then paid to have a full nut and bolt restoration which took around a year. The restorer/car locator (yes he is extremely dull) wanted to find another car to check parts/authenticity etc. – no problem, he flew him down to his ‘house’ by chopper to compare it with the other one he had in the garage 😯

RE JC – I feel he may have taking his method acting lessons a step too far but fair play for embracing the location and role so completely. Maybe the row wasn’t over food but that the producer failed to produce a few bottles of dog after filming!

Even better would be this guy.Fantastic sense of humour, right background and he might even get some motorbikes introduced to the show. Producers would have to insist on a ‘no singing’ clause though!

Wayne Carini comes across as very focused- the detail everything. Its why I like the show.

I remember he was prospecting around cars/stock for potential sale and they pulled back the tarp on a V17 engined(?) lonnng car. Took my breath away. A real Art Deco-era beauty.

The Shelby was/is a stunner- the right wheel/body colour combo IMO.

Guy Martin, nah, not really his type of show unless they change the format.

Jay Kay, could they afford the repair bills 🙂

Guy Martin could be a great feature presenter but not a host I think.

There’s some good top gear-ish stuff out there… Roadkill can be great, their Alaska trip was basically Real Top Gear Without The Fannies. Start at the start not the end though. Some good stuff on Drive, Mike Musto if you like muscle, Chris Harris obviously, Matt Farah can be good… Alex Roy can be fantastic sometimes or just annoying.

    Guy Martin? Jay Kay? No.

    Chris Evans? Possibly….

Would he want to though beyond being a guest presenter? Its an old format. Some already say its gone on too long.

The executive producer is Clarkson’s best chum, as are the two other presenters.

Chris Evans on R2 this morning, was pondering why they couldn’t just run the remaining shows with the other two given that it’s only Clarkson that got suspended. But the way he was saying it, was like he was hinting at something; “hmmmm, why would it be that they couldn’t just fall back on Hammond & May…..? Hmmmmmm” What possible reasons could there be….?” That kind of thing.

I wonder if Hammond & May said something along the lines of ‘well, if he’s not doing it, neither are we….’??

I quite like the idea of a refresh. Out with the old, in with the new.

He presented too for a bit, and he was shite. Proper talent vacuum there, but it’s not what you know…

Maybe Chris Evans was alluding to Alonso? Or May and Hammond were being told no pudding for the remaining shows for showing Clarkson support?

Perhaps. Or perhaps Clarkson has a long distance (70km or so) sportive to do this weekend and didn’t want to tire himself out in advance recording the show?! 😀
