FFS replace Clarkson with Clare Balding she’s in everything else. Get the script writers in from Miranda and Mrs Brown Boy’s as the BBC flog those dull programs to death. Finally get everyone in period costumes and Top Gear will be reborn in the BBC’s winning formula.
    Please end the licence fee.

The Top Gear production team (presenters included) ran out of ideas two or three years. Put the show to bed and forget about it. It’s a shame though, I still watched it, mainly because of the way it was shot, but it’s finished as a programme, Clarkson killed it.

TG won’t be back, but the whole story is dragging on because someone very high up at the Beeb wanted Clarkson out, but there are others, ( the vast accountants dept) that have gone “sh!t, wait, TG makes us a lot of money”.

And thats the real story, of how bullies in the “media and entertainment industry” have way too much power, and how every now and then they are knocked down a peg or three.

They should put Nicholas Parsons on. He’d be totally awesome!

I presume the remaining 3 shows of the current series won’t be shown, unless the beeb do a massive u-turn?

It was my understanding the May and Hammond won’t do it without Clarkson (whilst he was on suspension), hence the cancellation.

has to be live on any channel, not just the BBC

Well, we watch one or two of the channel 4 comedies but we can always 4od them. Everything else we watch on catch up through the internet. So cancelling is probably best for us.

as you note they would rather he stayed. him being racist and hitting folk whilst being racist is what forced their hand.

DG of BBC confirms that Clarkson ‘sacked’.

Breaking: BBC DG Tony Hall: “It is with great regret that I’ve told Jeremy Clarkson the BBC will not be renewing his contract.”

not sure what that means for remaining episodes of this series if it’s just not a contract renewal?

Well, as much as the format is getting tired, I was looking forward to seeing the 3 way shoot out between the Maclaren P1, Porsche 918 & the La Ferarri that they seemed to be getting agreed by the manufacturers.

IF the BBC stupidly sack Clarkson, what will happen to all the staff of TG including the live shows, magazine, website etc? Hopefully they’re safe – not their fault the BBC have made such a commercially suicidal decision.

Blimey that’s going to have an effect on here.

What will we discuss now on Sunday nights?

Good a big up yours to all the F**kwits who signed the petition to get him reinstated, goes to show you cannot expect to abuse & assault people and get away with it no matter how popular you are.

IF the BBC stupidly sack Clarkson

Assuming it’s true that he abused and assaulted a colleague, what, realistically, could they have done? What does it say about people that a million of them, plus the Prime Minister, ask that a violent bully be let off?

The new car show on Sky when they offer the 3 of them a wheelbarrow full of cash.

Tymon was “subject to an unprovoked physical and verbal attack” from Clarkson. Resulted in swollen and bleeding lip.

    BBC had no choice.

I have friends at Immediate Media who produce the Top Gear magazine and syndicate it worldwide. There are hundreds of jobs at stake not just JC’s.

Maybe they should go and have a ‘word’ with Clarkson.

It’s a shame he chose, for whatever reason, to behave in a way that’s left so many people who rely on Top Gear for their livelihood facing such an uncertain future. The man’s a pillock.

Its not fair on them but can we please blame the drunk fella, who abused then chinned someone, rather than the BBC.

Interesting that the producer took himself to A&E for a bruised lip – looks like he was preparing to have a go at Clarkson.

I like TG and admit that the format needed an overhaul, but TG without Clarkson [and maybe H & M] will be a mere shadow of its former self and I doubt it will survive…. especially if the 3 take themselves and the format over to Sky or ITV.

Although I’m sure the BBC had no choice in the matter, whether todays move will prove costly is yet to be seen. I suspect it will.

I wouldn’t be surprised to find out if this was what Clarkson wanted all along. He’d been on borrowed time at the BBC for a while, this way he gets to leave a tired show looking like the fallen hero to his fans. Should buy him a few more years notoriety/popularity.

Everyone thought that when Jonathan Ross left the BBC the world would stop spinning – it never happened. It’s funny the way some elevate people like Clarkson to a God like status. Nobody will miss him after a few months.

If they do carry on with TG then it needs to be a completely fresh start. As much as I like May and Hammond, I can’t see those two fitting around a replacement Clarkson. The three of them are great mates which added to the show. Without Clarkson that dynamic is gone.

New presenters and a revamped format.

Jonathan Ross didn’t have a worldwide brand built around him.

They may re-invent it, but it won’t be Top Gear without Clarkson. To see how rubbish a car show can be, just watch the really poor presenting on the Classic Car Show.

No, no they didn’t and like wise with Jeremy Clarkson.

Either TG will appear on another channel with same presenters, or the BBC will wait a couple of years and start TG again.

It was inevitable that he would be sacked, and rightfully so*.

I still think it’s ruined Top Gear though, and it will never be the same. may as well cancel it now.

    * doesn’t mean I don’t like JC anymore, and hope him and the other two get a new show up and running soon.

Like his namesake, JC, was first castigated by the masses, then crucified, now we await his return from what a mere mortal such as us would accept as death, and instead of going to heaven he just goes down the road to SKY.

Looks like the beeb are being crafty and avoiding potential legal aggro by just letting his contract lapse.

By having Clarkson report himself, he’s clearly a cunning so and so?

One things nobody seems to be disputing is that he bawled the guy out and then assaulted him.

Regardless of all the other BS circulating about this these do appear to be the facts and in the circumstances I can’t see how the Beeb could do anything else. If you chin another employee it’s goodbye and goodnight and so it should be, regardless of who you are.

The most irritating thing now will be Clarkson’s less sophisticated followers treating him as the most historically significant martyr since Joan of Arc.

I appear to be listening to Jonathan Ross on radio 2.
