The best produced album ever. Rick Rubin is a master.

    American Idiot – Green Day
    Everything you see – Runrig
    Ágætis byrjun – Sigur Rós

OK well obviously everyone is putting there own personal top 10, not the top 10 of all time. I mean the prodigy? I was there back in the day but come on! And BloodSugarSexMagik? personally I prefer the 2 before that. So with that in mind, here are mine as of this minute

    and in no order

    subject to change hourly

    Stone Roses – Stone Roses
    Sreamadelica – Primal Scream
Electric Ladyland – you need to ask?
    Sgt Pepper – likewise
Pungent Eflugent – Ozric Tentacles (remember! its a personal list!)
    Adventures Beyond… – The Orb
    the brown one – Orbital
    Beggars Banquet – Stones
    Chill Out – KLF
and out of place but I must still put in Appetite For Destruction – Guns and Roses

Ah llama, of course it’s your personal top 10, everything is personal on here. 😉

The Stone Roses first album is an odd choice in my opinion, very overrated and very dated. The second one is much better!

Agree with you on The Prodigy though, and Uplift Mofo is a classic album for those in the know.

Oh and I’d add Love – Forever Changes to my top ten. Now there’s an album that should be in a universal top ten if ever there was one.

Yes well I am dated. I never really went back to the 2nd, but the first is always near the top of the pile. However, got the fools gold ep and thats further up.

Holst – The Planets (Preferably Solti with the Berlin Phil)

IAM – Ombre est Lumière, Vol 1&2
    Rush – 2112
    Aaron Copland – Appalachian Spring
    ZZ Top – First Album
    Gun – Gallus
MC Solaar – Le Tour de la Question

    Ask me again tomorrow, though!

Yeah, that 9 minute version of Fools Gold is great, might dust off my 10th anniversary copy of the album now and give it a listen. 8)

Rush – 2112, how could I forget! Ah, this thread is great, reminding me of loads of oldies.

interesting how many of the albums ar from decades ago.
    is this
    1) a sign of how good the music was then
    2) a sign of how old we all are
    3) a sign of the poor taste we have?

    That would be 2)

My list would have to include some Eels, Springsteen, Neil Young and Sigur Ros.

    So how about:

    Eels – Electro Shock Blues
Springsteen – Not sure, How about ‘The River’?
Neil Young – After the Gold Rush
Flaming Lips – The Soft Bulletin
    Sigur Ros – Takk
    Lambchop – Is a woman
Pixies – Surfer Rosa and Come on Pilgrim

There’s too many choices for a ‘must have’ top ten. Important musically? best selling? Genre making? Epic? of their time? Greatest hits? Live? It’s meaningless just putting up a list of personal favourites…Danzig? a must have album? Don’t think so…

Don’t tell that to Glenn, he’ll rip your head off. And probably put an end to this forum while he’s at it.

Nah he’s getting on a bit now, probablt put out a hip or something. As with the others a personal selction and I actually think the dude is cheesy as, but having wandered into a festival in Koln a few years ago and watched him do this album live I now thoroughly rate this album.

Alot of really good “essential” albums already mentioned so won’t bother with a top ten.

Surprised not to see The Sundays Reading, Writing and Arithmetic so far. Or The Cures Boys Don’t Cry.

    [EDIT] Or Psychocandy

Tapestry would definitely be in the top 20, along with, ooohhh,
The Band – The Band, Gregson & Collister – Home & Away, Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks, Loaded by the Velvets and Malpractice by Dr Feelgood.

Getting the list down to 10 was the hardest bit!
