Finally cleaned my bike after riding Rivington Pike this afternoon.

Ps, Im not in any of these pics (the missus will think I either lied and shacked up with someone or I am really a Vampire) 😯

Ps. Provisionally I'm in for the next one. I might need to cancel at the last moment though (if hora junior still hasnt shown his face by then).

Sucks that i missed this one as it looked good… however my day was super productive and i now have a new (banger) car that's not been written off and the girlfriend is away in Morocco for 2 weeks so i think some night riding in the peaks is on the cards if anyone fancies it

What did you get/how much – can I have a go?

worked it out on tracklogs at 15.4 miles and 3000 ft of climb, or 22 miles and 4000ft of climb for me and fellmarvin. physically i am fully recovered, but my transmission on my bike is completely confused, ill have a look at it tomorrow.

1996 1.9 Diesel Renault Clio £500 and I should be getting my deposit back on the Cat C. it stinks of wet dog but it'll get me to work and back

"Any idea who the rider is? .. it could be anyone of the 31 of us!"
Apart from it can't be me, I have no idea who it was, I wasn't paying attention

"No pics of me going down Jacobs"
I was repositioning the camera as you went past

Yeah yeah. You noticed a lull in the decent action and decided to clean your lens, make a cuppa and wipe your nose until a exciting rider went past! 🙄

    Hey guys,

Sorry it's taken so long. Cheers for an excellent ride, good to meet everyone. Great route even with the snow/walking on the up hill bits 😥

I've uploaded my pics here…. There's even photographic proof that Hora did turn up. If anyone wants a full res copy of any of the pics my emails in my profile.

Well I think I can gather that from the 2 STW rides I've been on so far, going downhill quickly is not a highly prized thing amongst the forum dwellers. (some exceptions)

And before anyone else says it, on the other hand, no I'm not quick uphill!!! (Trying hard to get better though!)

    how rude!

I'd like to think i'm an exception

Sorry didn't mean to rude – I'm not saying people are rubbish at going downhill, far from it (I don't for a minute think I was the fastest downhill – Pook I think you're better than me). I just don't see the excitement in others I feel in myself. Oooh that's deep!

I HAVE to go down Jacobs and Rushup when it's dry in the summer. I was so sad all the snow was there (comedy factor was good though!!)

I'm slow going up and down. What I do like after a stressful week is the opportunity to relax/get out on the bike and not worry about holding people up in anyway.

These STW rides are good as its relaxed/have a laugh.

I'm going to do that Cavedale route with a detour down the Beast next Sat am if anyones about. Early start/finish as Ive got to go to Birmingham afterwards.

Rob, we can have a race on the next one 😀 . I'm rather competetive at times… I know you were on the last ride i did, but i cant remember which bike you were on?

I wont be quick up the hills, the new bike weighs about 32/33 pounds with slack head angle, whereas my old trek was 17 pounds, with talas forks…

THe down is the best bit anyway…

    lyons

i meant 27 pounds… Ive never ridden anything that was 17 pounds off road and really wouldnt want to…

    Chris,

I've still got your rear mech. I found it at the bottom of my bag last night. Apologies for not returning it on the day. Drop me a line with your address and I'll post over to you.

    Thanks

I just don't see the excitement in others I feel in myself.

The last thing I'm looking at when I'm going downhill is other people's excitement. There's quite enough dribbling down to contend with myself

dh race on jacobs tba this summer 😛

i was glad i went 1st down jacobs, no one saw my otb to 360 pirouette on the snow just after the gate into the deep snowy bit. scariest bit of the descent!

if there was a race, it would have to be very early or late in the day to avoid walkers 😀 and if i get a job somewhere, i might be able to afford a new bike by then 😆

avoid walkers? they are part of the terrain! knock 1 second of your time for a yell of fear, 3 for a leap for safety and 5 for actual contact.

add 5 secs on for a wave or saying hello

    gnnnnnaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
