    Wrong guerilla!

Guerilla as in “on land that the gardeners do not have the legal rights to cultivate, such as abandoned sites, areas that are not being cared for” rather than a bunch of silver backs.
Not that anyone reads this thread……

1bag collected including bagged dog shit shoved into a school fence.

I dunno, the idea of a silverback in a pair of crocs and a floppy hat, delicately wielding a pair of secateurs made me smile.

I mean, humans do some proper weird stuff, but I will never, ever, ever, understand that tying it in a tree thing. 🤔🙄

I think some people genuinely believe that they’re supposed to do that so the people who come to collect it can find it more easily. A bit like putting the bins out.

I’ve also heard the excuse “oh, I’ll pick it up again when I’m on my way back home.”

    different route, 1 bag collected.

Did a bit of guerilla gardening on the way back, pulled a lot of Japanese Knotweed sprouts that is going bonkers and chucked it on the hedgehog pile.

…or it can be summed up by a ChatGPT Haiku
    “Trash litters the Earth,
    Hands embrace its scattered birth,
    Hope blooms from the dirt.”

Nice little blast up the new trails in Leamington this morning before going to work.

Such a shame and completely baffling how many riders, being given an amazing few hundred thousand pound facility for nothing, still will choose to leave their shit all over it.

Picked a bag up from the start mound of the jump area only.

    Monday no Millie

Not seen Millie dog fûr awhile now – she must be really pining for Bert! We did see Angry Al though (GSD) – like pissed blokes in a Saturday night kebab shop Al had bit of a square up to Bert.
Otherwise uneventful 1 bag of litter collected.

    Rubber dingy rapids

Last night’s walk -found a discarded dingy and dragged the table legs out. I was going to opposite direction to the nearest bin so will retrieve another night.

Half a bag of litter collected this morning.

View of the guerilla garden from our living room. Apart from the trees this had been taken over by JK & HB. The left hand side has been repopulated by ferns and I’m guessing native plants and weeds🤷‍♂️ (I’m not a gardener by any means). The centre bit is starting to sprout with ‘stuff’
Ripped a bit more JK up this morning.

Johnny Cash said, ‘It’s hard for thee to kick against the pricks’, but here is Harold, Wombling away, always kicking.

Small fry compared to Bert, but every little helps.

    Walking Wednesday

I run an after work walking group with a few colleagues from work. Did a route that enabled us to collect the table legs and discarded dingy from the post above and dragged then to the nearest bin. Informed my contact at the LBC

    Celebratory bum sniff

Bumped into Millie yesterday who gave Bert a birthday bum sniff! Bert wandered off breaking Millies heart again😢

Picked up the random flytipping that someone had dumped on a wall a week ago – no doubt plenty of residents have been tutting at but doing **** all about whilst getting in their cars.

    One bag of litter collected.

This morning’s haul from the base of a crag prior to roping up. I’d like to think this was scrotes rather than climbers, but I’m not sure that’s the case.

Bert’s back in business after Beddgelert

After a week off it’s back to litter picking on this morning’s doggo plop trot.

Not too bad – collected a bags worth.

Not very exciting photo but then not very exciting subject!

Had a chat with the grumpy groundsman of the Billybigballs mill/business centre – I don’t litter pick their grounds as the business owner is a total ****. Its littered with dog shit🤷‍♂️

Otherwise 1 bag collected. Did some JK & HB clearing at the guerilla garden as it’s really sprouting now.

How quick can you get your McDonald’s

Is what this particular trail is called on Strava. I used to have its KOM. I now pick McDonald’s litter off it – how times change!

Dragged the dumped BMX off it – should I fix it up and attempt to reclaim my KOM on it?

Yes please, and have someone film it as Bert runs alongside 👍 😆 🤣

    Its 1 McCup away

See units of measurement thread but this cup (and you’ll have to take my word for it) was exactly 1McCup away from the nearest Maccys! Its such a reliable and repeatable unit!

    Otherwise – 1bag collected.

A load of vape packaging picked up and binned this morning.
Seems to be a big source of litter droppage lately.

No photos as I’m in a massive mood with Harold who had a go at a GS on a lead on the way to work.
Not sure why but he really has a thing against that breed.

Took the janky BMX found in bushes up to Stubbylee park bike revival today, better than it going in the metal skip.

A collection of their revived bikes for sale and a nice Scania T-cab for anyone who likes that sorta thing.

Explored Lumb Hole falls near Hebden Bridge, met a STWer – Charlie Bike Mongers wife (her T-shirt was a clue!) and their doggo Oscar.

    Some litter for my rucksack

Seems like anything is a target for joyriding these days.

I knew it would end up going in the river. Surprised it wasn’t already, so had to push it up a steep hill to the car park where hopefully the council will take it.
There’s quite a lot of resistance from the motor so hard work to push.

Commute to work this morning there’s an abandoned cheapo inflatable canoe with added beer cans on the park under a big tree(about 400yrds from the river) so me and Harold, mainly me if I’m honest, drag it across the park and leave it by a bin to be chucked into a massive hole in the ground.

    Short walk Tuesday.

Bert goes canicross running today with Lucy so doesn’t need a massive morning walk. Collected half a bag of litter and did some Japanese Knotweed-ing in the guerilla garden.

    Kebabs anyone?

The biggest hurdle to Rawtenstall winning Britain in Bloom isn’t scroaty **** and littering but escaping sheep from a local scroaty couldn’t give a **** farmer.

They are a daily menace and come into town to eat the newly planted……plants.

Bert practiced his bear work on them this morning and they ran off somewhere.

    @Welshfarmer
    – do you want some sheep?

Trash Free Trails have just released a new video about what they got up to on Yr Wyddfa this Spring. Gives a good insight into a trail clean event and what they are about.

    @alishand

Trash free trails are good because they record what each piece of litter is (as well as doing awesome litter picks!)
Hopefully at some point the companies that products and packaging ultimately end up as litter can be brought to task.

I don’t record my pickings but it is consistently the same companies. Some of which have a local premises – I never usually see KFC litter because there isn’t one locally for example.

But for me locally it is
    Monster
    Redbull
    McDonald’s
    Costa
    Lucazade
    Domino’s

I know it’s their customers who are ultimately responsible for dropping the ‘branded’ litter but I do think the companies themselves are partly culpable.

All these companies are making massive profits.
If Redbull put the same energy and money into an anti litter campaign as they did making a single use carbon bowl to dangle under a hot air balloon whilst a helicopter flew round it then I’m sure they could educate and eradicate their litter from the litter stream.

I do feel a bit bad about not separating my litter bags as I do pick up a lot of recyclable litter but I just don’t have the capacity for that.

Shopping trolley dumped in town square – figured it must be nearby Lidl, took it there and it’s not. Someone must have shoved it a mile or so from Aldi🤷‍♂️

One bag of litter collected, crow raided bin tidied.

Messy mountain bikers and Lumens from landfill

Sorry to say but half a bag collected from the parking area of Horncliffe Woods bike trails.

Rawtenstall’s 1MW power station that hardly anyone knows about. Has been generating power for way above its design life (15years) powered by the methane from what was originally Horncliffe quarry and then landfill site before being capped.

Escaping sheep on their way to cause carnage in town on the many CivicPride planting projects.

It doesn’t matter how much you pick up, it starts accumulating again immediately. Remember, this is the generation that’s going to save the planet…

Yet more escaped sheep this time on dual carriageway. Reported via 101

Kids electric scooter dumped in park, dragged to nearest bin – why do little kids need an electric motor?

One full bag collected – lots of Maccys and Monster.
