Good lad Harold – always makes me smile seeing pics of him. Especially after he’s had a few voddy’s!

Acorns planted yesterday in the catchly named
    ‘New Forest of Bert’

unless anyone else has a better name?!

Another few pockets of acorns collected from footpaths and mowed areas (ie they would never have a chance naturally).

I’ve been going through MrsRNP impressive collection of potted dead garden plants and am going to plant the acorns in tubs/pots for a few years till I hopefully plant them as small trees. The conkers are going in the freezer for a month or so then will also get potted.

Few handfuls of litter but I haven’t taken any pics as I can feel Cougar squirming at the thought of my Covid/cat aids/monkeypox/herpes/VD/piss/shit/vomit/blood covered hands!

Yeah I like that! Sherbert forest it is!

Picked up more pocket fulls – a few trees on our walks have gone acorn berserk!
    Planted some at home🤞

    Good efforts 😎👍

As someone that looks after countryside sites it is the most frustrating part of the job.

It’s probably a good thing the perpetrators aren’t about when we are, most of the staff here would be awaiting murder trials otherwise.

Acorns and conkers are massive this year

There might be a decent chance of picking up a prize with the litter lotto.
I wonder if there is a smaller prize of free food from the burger company sponsor?

Installed app this morning. It wants an email and DOB. You can take a photo and upload immediately or batch upload later and see if you’ve won an instant prize. Trustpilot reviews mention a few people winning smaller prizes.

Not a bad idea but it doesn’t work for me as litter picking is a sideline to taking the dog for a walk and not worth the hassle taking a pic of every piece of litter I pick up.

3/4 of a bag (down from the 2bag Mondays in summer) collected this morning – it’s dark at 6am so I can’t see as much litter to pick it.

Night vision goggles required for dark early morning litter picking 😉

The cynic in me is trying to figure out how this is going to be abused, but I guess it can’t make the problem any worse.

You’ve got to be in it to win it… the canalside haul from my weekly supermarket walk just prior to going into the Lidl bin…

I have a vision of scrotes emptying out bins of rubbish over the pavement so they can shoot pictures of themselves picking it up for prizes…

Dumped caravan on this morning’s walk – no number plate, both tyres okay, no hitchlock. Have reported so if you want a mobile sex palace be quick whilst it’s still there.

    caravan still there😕

Too dark for proper litter picking but still hand picking much to Cougars disgust!

Acorns are planted now it’s the turn of conkers! Collected from paths/roads/mowed areas ie where they wouldn’t germinate or grow anyway. Will be planted tomorrow morning in SherBert forest. Some proper dobbers this year!

So that’s pretty much it for this thread for the year.
Thanks to anyone who was inspired by this and did some litter picking round their area. See you in Spring when its light again in the mornings👋

    Bert’s back in business!

It’s light enough in the mornings to be able to litter pick again.
1bag from the local park then half a bag on the way home.

Well done OP you’ve gained another disciple in me.

This will be my second spring of dog walking and I’m looking forward to it.

I’ve picked up bits of litter here and there on my travels previously, but now I’m going to have a bin bag (well carrier bag) on me every time I leave the house with the mutt.

I’ll be employing the poo bag glove technique for picking up what I find.

    👍
I figure I’m out walking with the dog anyway so I might as well do some litter picking at the same time. I kinda becomes addictive lunging at litter and trying to nab it without stopping as we stomp along.

Fair play to you for keeping it up.
I’m struggling to find the motivation of late, mainly due to the sheer frustration of clearing one area when I’m out walking then a couple of days later it seems just and bad again.
It’s probably not helped that the farmers around here have gone nuts cutting the hedges this past couple of weeks so the mountains of litter are even more noticeable now.

We collect, but not as routinely as you do. I now have some bin bags and gloves in my car. My friend and I filled three bags near Balqhidder the other day and took them home to my bins. 🙁

Monday morning double bagger! Interesting/depressing to see how grotty places have become when not litter picked for 4months over winter.

Seems like the nitrous sniffers are going big, or going home, now in my local park car park. 😐

Stepping up the game from the little mini silver canisters you see strewn everywhere these days.

    Jesus wept.

Yeah – same round here. I don’t mind it – they are easier to pick up. I just wish the thick **** would shove em in a bin when they’ve finished with them but I don’t suppose you can expect much from someone who thinks inhaling industrial NO2 is a good idea*

This thread is brilliant! I just need a dog and a litter picker and then I’m in. I’ll try and do some when I work from the local office and walk back.

but I don’t suppose you can expect much from someone who thinks inhaling industrial NO2 is a good idea*

Industrial grade No2 is mixed with sulphur (dioxide?) to specificaly make it toxic for human consumption, but still good for industrial applications or making your car go faster.

This stuff must be food grade or medical grade, AKA pure.

I’m guessing these are imported as there no way you could legitematley buy that with that branding.

Perfectly legitimate. It’s sold for catering use in making whipped cream or something like that.
Obviously the people who are selling it will be fully aware that it’s not being used for that purpose but hey, at least they can make loads of money on it ☹️

Another nice evening out for the cream soda crazies.
They’re obviously driving away after enjoying their six bottles of gas which obviously isn’t the Mae West. 😐

*were being used as propulsion devices for a heely clad child mid litter pick and ‘just broke Dad’.
