Sick Bikes and welding

Just read the mbuk article and it says they build the frames themselves in Worthing having been on a learn to build a frame course in Kent.
Stevet1Full MemberHmm sort of seeing where the inspiration for the name of there hardtail Gnarcissist came from…
Have a sense of entitlement and require constant, excessive admiration
Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements that warrant it
Be preoccupied with fantasies about success
Believe they are superior and can only associate with equally special people
Monopolize conversations and belittle or look down on people they perceive as inferior
Become impatient or angry when they don’t receive special treatment
Have significant interpersonal problems and easily feel slighted
React with rage or contempt and try to belittle the other person to make themselves appear superior
Have difficulty regulating emotions and behavior
Experience major problems dealing with stress and adapting to changethebeesFree MemberI think that their brazing looks fine, just needs dressing up. Essentially what they’re showing is the unfinished product.
There is a photo on their Instagram feed though, of a gusseted headstock which is wrong in design. Strengthening gussets should have the weld finish before the end of the metal, not a continuous seam weld as this transfers the stress point to the end of the gusset. In fact 1″ welds around the gusset with , say, 5mm gaps in-between (no welds in the corners) provides the best strength with no transferred stress points.jordanchaosFree MemberNo point in posting info on this years sold out bikes.
You may think it’s strange not to want your business but, I speak for a lot of businesses here. We don’t. We have ample.
I respond back because I dislike you. Not just on a personal level but on an industry level and for anyone that wants to start their own business in the middle of a difficult economic time.
I think you are mad at me because you sit at your desk and dream of taking the chances we have. Sad and lonely the forum one of your last refuges of control and authority.
You attack me personally then call me thin skinned?
But it is you that is the coward. Defended by anonymity.
If you saw me at a race you would be silent like many others before you. If indeed you ever leave the forum to actually ride a bicycle, which is frankly looking more and more unlikely
Go look at your face in the mirror and look at your comments and say “is this me? Is this who I am a bitter sad shell?” Cos you wanna know what the people NOT commenting here are saying about you. Not even fans not even friends. They think you are a tragic awful mess of people intent on sadness.
Thanks for the traffic! 150% sale upsurge this weekend, unusual even with all the press.
I do hope we can continue to keep this thread going. It seems ££££!
Number of emails 2
Both from industry members who were treated the same as you. Number from BRAVE singletrack members.

howsyourdad1Free MemberJordan can you do a “too Posh to push” long sleeve t shirt please ? Ta and keep fighting the good fight
jordanchaosFree MemberSure thing dude – do you want it was a backprint with a pocket or a front print?
nukeFull MemberNumber from BRAVE singletrack members. 0
OP asks question about welds on a bike forum, gets replies, owner comes on and also replies. Other folk then also get an explanation. So why should folk need to be emailing you?
Still, its all redundant now as its all got blown out of proportion…what a shame that its escalated to this 🙁
jordanchaosFree MemberWell I enjoyed it.
Have A nice weekend and enjoy work on Monday!
I will!
Splash-manFree MemberJust read the mbuk article and it says they build the frames themselves in Worthing having been on a learn to build a frame course in Kent.
Can believe this
dickguy lives round the corner from me !Off to take a look at myself in the mirror before heading out for another ride. Yep, work on Monday will be great as I’m sure it will be for many others on here.
leffeboyFull MemberBike company owner comes on Stw, slags off Stw for discussing his company/products, comes across badly
anyone else get the sense that this is just their online ‘brand’ 🙁
Ling Ling Ling
ivorhogseyeFree MemberWhat a deeply unpleasant bloke, there’s just no need for him to come on here writing that bile
eddiebabyFree MemberSo deies his hatred of STW mean we won’t ha e to see his stuff on the homepage, or his feature with Chipps? I’m assuming Jordan will want to pull it.
ransosFree MemberI respond back because I dislike you.
I had no opinion of you before I read this thread.
tangFree MemberAll the years on Bespoked, one thing I have observed is that both consumers/customers and the builders/designers are fiercely passionate about the product. This is absolutely a good thing; consumers have the right to question esp as its a combination of ones passion and hard earned cash. Plus it pushes the builders to up the game and justify a custom experience. However, one can’t exist without the other so some respect must be due to those putting torch to tube and offering a choice to us (choice being the main thing here…..). Its a tough business to commit to and even the perceived best with stacked order books are not lighting up cigars with 50’s, that is fact.
Chris King told me last year that the UK crowd were the most knowledgable and passionate he has encountered in all his years, they know their stuff. So much so, he is happy to spend 3 days in a booth talking non stop, something he doesn’t do at any other show. Now I’m not saying this translates directly to STW but I would say a lot of very experienced, educated nerds frequent these pages and dismissing opinion is a bit risky. Equally this opinion and counter sometimes snowballs, smells blood, gets a bit personal and the pack descends. Whom ever the protagonist at this point, is doomed.
Oh, and tickets for the show go on sale soon 😀 Meet the people behind the torch, see the bikes up close, feel the welds with your own fingers and bathe in the fug of our wonderful two wheeled world. xx
philxx1975Free MemberWell I enjoyed it.
Wait two pages ago, I’m pretty sure it was the most horrific experience ever bestowed on any industry person, Which to contrast by this page you were given a group bro hug by two industry folks
What a deeply unpleasant bloke, there’s just no need for him to come on here writing that bile
Only as early as one strop ago he was done with STW.
Sounds more like your the gobshite that mouths in the pub til some one puts you on your arse , maybe they will do it at a trade show.
tazzymtbFull MemberStrange old thread this, first off sick bikes aren’t my bag, if it was artisan welded titanium by some bloke with a beard in a shed I’d be having a massive ti-boner over it but i do like a bit of weld porn hence having a look at this thread. However this seems to have descended into the what is, unfortunately quite a common occurrence on stw of giving a small UK frame company a beating by folks who really aren’t the target market,or who have any real interest in the product, but are happy to drop their crag hoppers trousers and smash one out furiously, whilst having a go at a stranger on internet. If you look through older threads with a similar theme you see the same names getting all frothed up as soon as blood is in the water. At the end of the day its about choice and more bikes and designs in the market is a positive thing. How about supporting companies or at least not joining in the circle jerk of baiting someone on a forum and let the market decide if the product is good, rather than trying to damage someone’s livelihood? How many of you with the “well I wouldn’t buy a bike from him now” brigade would actually honestly have even thought about buying one in the first instance?…
Kind of stw at it’s worst really.
ransosFree MemberKind of stw at it’s worst really
Not even close! As I said, I had no opinion or interest in the company before this thread, but the owner comes across as a total bellend.
tazzymtbFull Membercomes across as a total bellend.
Unfortunately, most do on this thread 😉
nukeFull MemberKind of stw at it’s worst really.
STW has its moments but blaming STW for how this thread has esculated is wrong imo: the OP asked a perfectly reasonable question on a forum and it could have easily been answered by jordan and that would have been that but no, he got all defensive over some perceived slight and it all went down hill from there…its always good to have bike company owners on STW answering questions & there was plenty of scope for Sick bikes to come out of this positively as other bike company owners have done before
superstuFree MemberTazzy – exactly the point I was trying to make a few pages back, well said.
TiRedFull Member“Have A nice weekend and enjoy work on Monday”
Thank you. Your attitude comes across as immature as your company name.
I’m looking forward to spending the week working on an exciting new cancer medicine, and getting back to my 400km training load with a race next weekend.
In the meantime, might one suggest you continue to refine those braising skills. And upping production for the forthcoming tide of orders from the non-STW cognoscenti. You might also like to look up Barry 😉
tazzymtbFull Member@nuke I do blame stw and its usual suspects in this one, yes Jordan over reacted, but all it needed was for someone to calmly point out that no slight was initially intended and steer it back to a positive discourse. What happened is what usually happens, as soon as there is an emotional response it turns into stw-baiting with various folks poking and nipping until they get more blood, then a stronger response, then clasp their pearls to their breast and with faux horror decry the simply dreadful behaviour of whoever they have decided to wind up. If you are one of those in this thread who has added to it purely to mix it up a bit more Have a word with yourselves.
ransosFree MemberUnfortunately, most do on this thread
There was a bit of piling in to be sure, but Jordan was the instigator. The first few posts were quite restrained really.
crankriderFree MemberI suggested their frame to someone on another thread, I think their new gearbox bike looks brilliant, I love long slack hardtails and would be the target market for one of their TI bikes but for the fact that the way they deal with people.
Jordan, if you ever pass your eye over this thread again please tone this stuff down just a bit man, not for me but for Sick, you don’t need to lose what you stand for or your identity, ignore the non constructive idiots – of course defend yourselves online but don’t make videos shaming people, don’t get so worked up you have to call them at home, don’t drop to making huge rants on here generalising a whole forum of people, none of it will help. Tell everyone ‘thanks, but if you don’t like it you know where to go’ and get back on with it.
The more you grow the more criticism you will get, you can’t avoid it, you can’t bully people into not doing it and if you try and go toe to to against everyone it’s all you will end up doing with your working day.
When you do something different people will pass comment, it’s their right. You describe the bike industry in a dim light, you criticise current aspects of the industry etc so let people return the favour and deal with it internally.
jordanchaosFree MemberIf you are a QP working on a cancer medicine be sure to read back on your notes more carefully than you read on these. Since I don’t do the brazing. And mention it several times. So make sure you are double checking your work, or have a good QP on that.
Btw I was the QP for Augmentin for GlaxoSmithKline.
You might look at optimising your training cycle perhaps that’s causing your mistakes?. I would think someone with your background in medicine would know better.
jordanchaosFree MemberTasty nailed it to be honest standard fare here
Be nasty
Get horrible response
Call people unprofessional in feigned horror
Get escalated response
Say you won’t buy productAt first it depressed me it really did, now it’s funny.
Now I find out what other people actually think it’s hillarious. It’s truly brilliant like performance art.
Don’t forget to visit our shop to buy some t-shirts
They make a great Christmas present
legendFree MemberWasn’t Jordan going on about working a job through the day then bike stuff at night, along with the sacrifices in family life etc? Yet then slags people off who aren’t doing that….
Also going on about how they don’t make the frames, but in the magazine they do?
All very strange
ransosFree MemberBe nasty
Get horrible responseYes, the nastiest person in this thread is you, by some distance.
tazzymtbFull Member*gives up trying to be voice of reason*
You are all ***** *******
Either have a fight in a carpark and sort it out properly or wind your collective ******necks in…..********

This is just a brilliant TLDR of the whole thread! 😆
tazzymtbFull MemberReally ransos? I thought I was very objective and clearly pointed out that noone had covered themselves in glory 🙂
And since when were there sides? That just reinforced my point about the blood in water… What, are you either a shark or chum in your view of the forum?
How odd?
But if there is going to be fisticuffs between Jordan and his detractors, can I come along and **** whoever is left standing, I love a good man tussle…..preferably with jelly or nutella
bearnecessitiesFull Memberpointed out that noone had covered themselves in glory
..aside from those with the crag hoppers.
tazzymtbFull MemberDamn you bearnecessities…I’ve just snorted my tea out of my nose!!
