Ive seen a thread on here with a few taller riders talking about road frame sizes and wanted a few opinions…
In a dilemma over which size to buy for the Canyon Ultimate CF SL 9.0 or Endurace CF 9.0 (not decided which to go for yet). I know that most would recommend a proper fitting but i’m living in Borneo at the moment so that is not an option. This is my first road bike after having ridden trails for many years. I’m 193cm (6ft4) tall with a 91cm (35.5in) inseam.
Looking for those with a similar size to give some advice.
    Thanks

I’m the same height as you, similar leg length. This is the 61cm Cannondale I got last week. Saddle’s too far back for my tastes due to stock layback post, with plenty of post still in the frame, but an in-line seatpost will sort that out.

I am 190cm tall, although I have a longer inside leg than you. I ride a 58cm Cannondale CAAD 8 which is a great fit for me.

I think Canyon have done something funny with their geometry recently; it used to make sense but now it’s difficult to work out what frame size people should buy IMO.

The seat tube angles are too steep on the larger sizes, especially those endurance frames that look like they come with an inline seatpost aswell; I think it’d be tricky to get yourself in a comfy position.

It also looks like they come with stock stem lengths which are too short (at least for me) and the bars are too wide.

I would look at Rose Bikes; their geo makes more sense; you can customize the parts and I think their customer service/lead times are better.

Also, a mate is the same height as you; he rides a 2009 Giant TCR Alliance; size XL with a 130mm stem. Fit looks spot on and has been since day dot when he bought it. THe geo is here; might be of some help to you.

When I bought my canyon their online size predictor was spot on in terms of frame size.
