Notice – STW any issues ?

I can’t see externally hosted images in posts. Might only affect posts since the upgrade, can’t tell. There’s one missing at the bottom of the Watches N+1 thread (posted by Derek Starship) and mine in the dogs thread where I note I can’t direct upload photo’s. That one was hosted on postimages.

Windows 11, Google Chrome.

Not able to post images directly like the fancy editor previously allowed. Asking for image location. Android 11 on Oneplus Nord and using STW via Chrome browser.

Not sure if this has been reported already or not – messaging not working. I can get into the messages page, and read the message at the top, but it won’t let me read any of the older messages.

If you click reset your password, the email generated doesn’t seem to actually contain a hyperlink to reset your password.

Update on my photos issue on top of this page. Seems it might be my work IT gang blocking the image host. Ignore that one, sorry to have potentially wasted your time.

Check you preference setting in your STW account.

DNS wouldn’t take long, Mark said it would take a while for indexes to be generated on the new database.  Indexing helps database queries to run faster

Videos are still auto playing despite checking “YES” against disable videos in preferences

Two things:

Timings on posts massively out of synch, go back one page on some threads and you’ll find “newer” posts

Forum indices massively out of synch, go to the thread and you’ll find that the last indexed poster hasn’t posted for a while and two (or more) posts have been made since

EDIT, what’s happening is that >> (e.g. Notice – STW any issues ? >>) doesn’t always take you to the latest page in a thread

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but how do I go back a page in the forum? (Not in individual threads, in the main overview windows). Numbers aren’t there for me.

UPDATE Saturday morning:

The site is currently being indexed by Anthony. That means we can’t push any updates or bug fixes until it’s done. That will hopefully be done by Monday morning. Once we have done that and activated the system that uses it, we should see a performance improvement in the site. By performance I am referring to speed of access to pages and not bug fixes.

However, one really nagging problem is that some full members accounts are not set to their correct access level and so these members will be hitting the paywall and probably seeing the dreaded ads. I’m here for you. While we can’t push the ultimate fix for this until after the indexing has finished I can fix your accounts manually – but I need you to contact me directly. Please don’t do that on the forum. Please email me directly over the weekend on mark@singletrackworld.com. If you can start your email title with ‘Member login’ I’ll create a filter to collect them all in my inbox so I can deal with them. Managing expectations – it’s the weekend so my response time will be measured in hours, but I’ll do my best.

Embedding a post from x.com just gives us a link.  Manually edit the link to replace ‘x’ with ‘twitter’ and the post gets embedded nicely with the image and text.  I’m guessing whatever code you have to tidy up posts just needs to be updated a bit once the indexing is over

I was looking for a specific thread (Ukraine). It’s fallen off the front page of threads. The arrows/numbers to take you to older threads have gone, although they still seem to exist within a thread.  I did search for ‘Ukraine’ – it just brought up hits for the UK Election thread!

I know that fixing the search function is a more long term thing, but can we have the links to go to older threads back?

Same problem here. I get a pop-up message saying ‘The image could not be uploaded. Please check that it is a valid JPEG, PNG, or GIF file and that the file size is no larger than 10 MB‘. The image meets  these criteria but I get this message every time. I’ve tried both Safari and Chrome on a MacBook running Sonoma 14.5.

Formatting options suddenly disappeared, the (profile) button does nothing, manually URL-walking to account/preferences gives a menu and no options. I’d post a screenshot but, well.

I’m getting unwanted notifications because the “notify me of follow up replies” box is checked automatically. If I deselect it, it selects it again automatically.

Edit. Not happening on this thread, but the “Football is Pants” one!

Am also unable to post pictures up. Like lorax getting the same message even although it meets the criteria it says it wants

Filled in the report a post form thing, all seemed to work (post then only showed reply, not reply/report options) but had a message saying report had not worked properly.

Never mind, I just spotted the update. I’ll try again next week.

Yep. Photo upload problem for me too. I’d previously experienced this with some photos taken on my phone. “Editing” them, simply by opening and saving a copy, would resolve it but now even that won’t work.

No option to scroll to additional pages from the front forum page, using Firefox on Windows.

Click on the icon a the top left of the screen to access the classifieds.

but there’s a ruddy great advert, blocking the classifieds icon…

Finally, I reach the classifieds page…

then I click on my profile, I get the option to log out.
