Happy to report that super annoying video starting playing every time I typed a (lower case only) p has now stopped. For that I’m grateful, thank you.

However it may prompt me to post more (or then again, maybe not… 😀 )

Forum History is back in User Profile, but seems to be missing the last few weeks activity. Also missing threads started and replies tally.

I see the classifieds have had a facelift

It’s not so obvious any more which are bumped ads, until you check the dates to see where it switches from the oldest bumped ad in November to the newest non-bumped ad in January

BUT:there is a bug in the click handling code. I  usually middle click links so that they open in a new window without affecting my current view. The “open in a new window” bit works, but it also activates the link in the current window at the same time. This is not standard behaviour and should not happen

In the last couple of weeks I’ve started 4 new threads, clicked submit and everything appears fine. However, none of the threads have appeared in the forum.

Could be user error of course.

Did you remember to select which forum the thread should appear in? If you’re in over view, you need to choose bike or chat

It’s quite possible I didn’t select a specific forum. I’ll make sure I do next time.

I love this forum, but the loading is so painfully slow. I’m assuming this has definitely been discussed before so it isn’t a moan, but it is the only time I’ve seen a website load so slowly

Only about every third post for the last 35 pages. 🙂 It’s related to post count, the most prolific posters (hiya!) are the worst affected.

The workaround is to log out when browsing, logged out it is rapido. I was running two browsers for a while, one logged in and one logged out, until I caved and asked Mark for permission to create a second account until it’s fixed. I’m guessing that fix will be waiting for the new forum now.

I’ve just – 18 minutes ago – posted a comment below the article about the DJI e-mtb ie from the article page rather than on the forum. On the main forum page, my comment is listed as having been made 20 hours ago, when the article itself was posted, though it ranks as if posted 18 minutes ago, as it should.

Not a huge issue, but might be useful if it reflects some underlying synching glitch I guess. Or not.

Is there any way to respond to classified ads- can’t see how to either post a comment or directly contact the poster?

Why do i keep getting the same advert for scientology?

I’ve blocked it several times, keeps coming back.

Forum gone virtually unreadable on android now. Threads load ok, then the word wrapping goes crazy, into super wide screen (I think as some ad loads), then it keeps switching itself between super duper widescreen and super wide-screen every second or so. Both wide screens pretty much unuseable

This may have been discussed already but why are there SO many cookies/ vendors to opt out of? How come there’s no ‘reject all’ option? And why are some them mandatory? (can’t opt out?)

Yep. I get that this is clearly not a quick and easy fix or it would have been done by now, but actively penalising regular posters and site members seems a little ironic, erm, don’t ya think.

I would suggest that the STW tech team try logging in as a regular user to see just how annoying and pervasive the lag issue is. Gawd knows I don’t post anything like as often as some and it’s still quite irritating. I do wonder if ST understands quite how annoying it is, people aren’t just grumping over a couple of seconds lag, it’s getting well into ‘maybe there’s something badly wrong with the site’ territory.

There’s a new forum on the way (hopefully soon) so I can’t see that anything other than emergency work will be done on this current one.

Perhaps pause this thread and start a new one when new forum goes live?

Yep. As an <cough> occasional whiner, I do so with no real expectation that anyone cares.  This thread is just a lightning rod to keep the whingeing off the rest of the forum, not a checklist of things to fix.

There are plenty of experienced database engineers on STW who could probably identify the problem in a heartbeat if given access to the logs. Just ask for help.

Update:

We have a tentative plan to give you a first look at the new forum next week. We won’t have imported the complete archive from this forum but that will happen. Until we have imported the entire forum, likes and all, this old forum will still be here. For that reason you probably won’t see a big speed improvement until we finally archive this place. Just managing expectations there. I’ll give you another update closer to the launch.

Still getting the incorrect password thing (it isn’t) and can’t log in on occasions… most recently AM Saturday 18th

Every page load takes over the audio on my iPad. No sign of a video.
