Site unusable this morning. Big adds blocking use. No way to close ads.

2nd obtrusive ads, unusable forum.

Not read above as I don’t have the patience. Theres a new ad format appearing (Chrome, Pixel 5) that’s just plain rubbish. It appears mid screen right hand side EXACTLY where you don’t want it but most of it is dead space that actually accepts clicks.

Video ads seem to have gone even more mental that usual today – taking 3/4 of screen on iOS Safari latest versions.  With a sneaky transparent bit to presumably get raccidnetal clicks and an ads sitting on top of edit box so I am typing this blind!

No ads on forum here iOS, Chrome browser. Digital Member. Logged in. I believe paid up members don’t see ads. If you’ve not, why not join and support the mag / forum. We want it to be there and folk need wages, right.

Perhaps as a low-effort fix a notice could be added near the “I own the copyright” box? Could link to a page or forum post with an explanation of how to use the Windows properties dialog to remove the metadata.

Singletrackworld says….the image cannot be uploaded. Please check that it’s a valid jpeg etc and that the file size is no larger than 10mb

That’s been the message on two different pc and on my phone when I’ve tried to add a pic to the midweek ride thread. All running Chrome.

No STW video intruding when just using the site, as I have it disabled in preferences. If I use the search function, however, then select a page from the results, I get the STW video intruding once I reach that thread. Still logged in on both routes.

Getting this when I try to post:

Not an issue, more a change that appears to have crept in…

All the text in posts now appears to be bold. It’s really not very easy on the eye and makes anything more than very short posts quite hard to read.

Is this intentional?

Already mentioned above, but it is almost impossible for me to directly upload pictures. It’s been like that for at least a couple of months. Previously it was fine. I get the pop up telling me it has to be a JPG, PNG or GIF of below 10 meg – when I am trying to upload an image from my phone, taken with my phone camera that definitely meets all those criteria.

For a while the work around of screenshoting the image and uploading the screenshot worked, but in the last few days that has stopped working too.

To cap it all, with the new fancy editor thingy, I can see (or can’t remember how) to do it the old fashioned way of linking to an image hosting site.

Random guess, is it expecting .jpg instead of .jpeg, or the other way around?

Maybe, the Pixel saves camera images as .jpg. That’s pretty standard I’d have thought? I’m not sure how I would change the file extension to .jpeg to test it?

Click through and it’s OK, but:

An un-issue I’ve just noticed.

Hitting Page Down on desktop took the browser window as origin, so it’d scroll unread text up behind the menu bar.  This appears to have been fixed, it’s now using the bottom of the bar as the start of the page and paging correctly.  It’s a small thing I know, and I’m probably the only person left still navigating using an actual keyboard, but it was doing my fruit in.  So, thanks for that.

Appreciate I’m a super-niche userbase of probably one (Firefox on Linux) but there’s no box for creating a new post at the bottom of the forum for me.

EDIT: nor on Firefox on Android, for that matter. I’m logged in on both FWIW.

Enable the “fancy editor” in your account settings.

You need to choose the chat or bike forum rather than the overview listing, I believe.

Slow slow slow tonight, feels like it’s been slow for ages. Chrome on Android and Chrome in Windows.

Nearly every page I visit I get this:

Android 11. Chrome browser. Took 5 goes to get to this page.

Loads of 502 errors and painfully slow all day today.

Safari on iPad and MacBook.

I’ve heard it mentioned before, but when I use the forum search, for example ‘knee warmers’ one of the first non-sponsored links is https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/where-is-the-cheapest-place-for-bib-knickers/

Forum search says its 10 days old.  Click through and its 12 years old!  This has been a real pain when trying to find up to date info.  It used to do t on Google Advanced search but that seems to have resolved itself, but built in search is still wrong.

Loads of 502 bad gateways today for me. Some last night too.

And just had a “403 forbidden” replying to a forum post.

And I’d not even included profanities, politics, or anything libellous about people from Yorkshire and worried sheep.

Educate my untrained brain please, I take 2 photos on my phone one after the other, one will upload to the site the other the file is too big ?

I also had loads of 502 yesterday, am I being targeted because I haven’t chipped in to the fund ? 🤔

Photo too large, Windows Explorer says it’s 4.08MB.

Edit, changed to .jpeg, still fails. It does the uploading, gets to 100% then pop-up says too large or wrong format.

I am not able to upload photos to the the classified; popup suggests it doesn’t have access, but linking into settings and allowing full access doesn’t help. Android latest version on Pixel 6a and Edge browser. Ta.
