Theres a superb BBC Sounds podcast series that goes into great detail about this, which is well worth a listen

BBC Sounds – End of Days

That podcast is indeed excellent and real surprise how many people from UK got dragged in

For a “do not recommend”, I’d suggest steering clear of “Pepsi Where’s My Jet?” on Netflix.

It’s a nice idea for a 4-part documentary series, the story of the guy who spotted that when Pepsi launched TV ads where you could redeem Pepsi Points for branded merch, they didn’t include a “we’re only joking” on the final shot where they said if you had 7 million points you’d get a Harrier jet. So he set about accumulating 7 million points and asked for the jet. Then, when they said “we were only joking”, he took them to court. Because, America.

It should be a 1-part, or perhaps 2-part documentary. It’s so over-blown and overindulgent, stringing the story out into four hours. I haven’t even watched the fourth part to find out what the outcome was, and to be honest I’m so fed up at the previous three that I don’t know if I can be arsed.

Yeah most netflix series that we try are pretty decent but we did a bit of that pepsi jet thing and didn’t bother finishing it.

watched the Luther film the other day and it really is a big steaming pile of poo, ripped off so many mid 2000 torture porn films. I like how they convey the passage of time by giving Andy Serkis the worst wig ever worn in a non comedy setting.

Did anyone notice a slight joke at James Bond’s expense? When Luther goes into a bar and is offered a martini but instead goes for a glass of water?

It’s not really fascinating though is it?, well…..perhaps if you’re of particular limited reasoning or intelligence (of which you’re not, the first time you hear/read of his theories they can appear to be novel but a bit of research into him is worth it) Hancock is a **** crank and sails very close to peddling supremacist theories, of course the grifters such as Russell Brand, Eric Weinstein, Joe Rogan love him for his particular form of insight.

Try a Google/Twitter search on his take’s regarding archaeology, to say he’s a **** absolute joke is taking it mildly

Watched the speed cubers last night and found it quite enjoyable .
Who knew there was a world championships for Rubiks cubing. 😃

Some lovely displays of empathy and good sportsmanship from the main character too.
Having only been able to “solve” a 3×3 cube by dismantling and reassembling as a kid, it is so impressive to see what they can do.

It sort of is.. Because it’s well filmed and shows some pretty incredible stuff really nicely. I’d never seen the temples on Malta or in Turkey, the buried chambers under the hilltop construction made of thousands of big rocks that were all carried up there is all fascinating and the underground complex is just jaw-dropping.

But yes, when he does his big reveal in the last episode it’s obviously junk. However I really liked that he encourages people to do their own research… and even a quick google on him and any of the subjects immediately brings up the other side of the story, not just from the “archeology establishment” that he wants to be against him, but from just about everyone else too. Interesting, educational and entertaining, but not in the way he intends!

I read a lot of Hancock’s books 20-25 years ago because I’ve always been fascinated by ancient history and myths – everything from Atlantis to the pyramids and the Mayans etc. He’s very convincing to many people, but take what he says with a pinch of salt and just tag along for the ride. It is interesting stuff IMO.

The only real interesting thing about it is just how mad it all is though, and how many people are prepared to be suckered into a load of old bollocks  Hancock’s guff about Atlantis is just re-treaded version of Donnelly who was writing exactly the same nonsense for exactly the same audience of gullibles back in the 19thC and frankly has the same racist tinge.

It’s the same vein as Holy Blood and Holy Grail and Chariots of the Gods. All crap, all made up. All sadly get more coverage than the genuinely ground breaking work that is being uncovered at these sites. I mean the idea that “big” archaeology is covering up the truth…I mean how does Hancock know about places like Gobekli Tepe in the first place…

I mean Dan Brown is a shockingly bad writer, but at least he has the balls to admit it’s a novel – despite the disclaimer about it all being based in reality (hint: it’s not)

It could have been a pretty decent show, but it really just turned into another copaganda job. Southland did a much better job.

Watched a couple of episodes of Wolfpack on Prime recently, about Quick Step’s 2022 season.

It’s pretty good, one of the better Drive to Survive-inspired sports docs I’ve seen so far.

A good appetiser for the actual Netflix TdF series, which I guess is coming this summer?

Unstable for anyone missing Parks and Rec.

I’m epically late to the party with this, but Brooklyn99 is a great filler show for quick stupid comedy.
