Kona 2018 bike launch

I really like the idea of carbon process as my 153 could be improved on. That said there are other bikes in the picture at the minute!

Those prices just feel rediculous. Its a Kona, its not niche, its still a faux-bar when everyone who was using faux-bar has went to ABP or Horst link now the Spesh patent is expired.

I don’t think those prices are all that bad for an American brand at todays exchange rates. The new alu frame Transition Sentinel is £3K for a NX equipped bike with basic suspension, or £2800 for frame and forks with higher spec Fox stuff.

I like the look of the DL 29er. It’s a shame they aren’t offering a frame only deal like Transition but I could stretch for the GX Eagle version then swap a few bits over from my current bike.

That blue carbon 153 is stunning.

Prices are higher than bigger companies like spesh, trek etc
and the direct order ones like yt, canyon etc

but similar to smaller companies like EVIl, whyte orange (well actually cheaper, but thats orange!), orbea, santa cruz,transition etc

as for faux bar, please tell me whats wrong with it!

Looks lovely , got a soft spot for kona , have a 99 stinky in the garage loft .
Did you get a test ride ? Might be in the market for a new bike in the new year and all the ones catching my eye are 29ers but I’ve never had a proper go on one

Nope im flying blind !

Ridden the slash and the Whyte g150, if I hate the Kona probably look at one of those, (slash I rode was size too big, so I’d want an proper try)
I took a punt on the 153 when it first came out and never looked back !
Hopefully at Aston on Tuesday afternoon then nightride at Woburn on Thursday, fod uplift following Sunday ( woulda preferred cwmcarn or even bpw, but mates doing fod)

Reckon I’ll know if I like it by then
