    I did perform similarly when I did this before on a calorie counting diet, but I had to do twice as much gruelling base cycling and half starve myself, and it was bloody grim. Plus I couldn’t keep up the half-starving whilst doing speed work so I plateaued at 84. It was too grim to continue so the weight gradually came back over a few years despite all my cycling and attempts to stay on top of it. A few other factors came together to mess things up.

    This diet is way way easier I’ve been doing speed work the whole time and now I’m at the interesting part. If I can continue losing in weight then I am definitely onto a winner. I’ve not been 100% observant this last couple of weeks but I’m firmly back on the wagon this week and it’s showing.

    Dunno Jamie. Considering the number of people that go to back to back classes down my gum I was extremely dissapointed at the turn. I’m guessing a couple of hundred.

    ….but yeah, if people do that stuff anyway, then why not do an extra hour for charidee.

    I have been a member of my gym for 3 months now and only been to one class…..should really make an effort.

    On the subject of diet and whatnot, I have been 162/164lbs (73/74kg) this whole year. My fighting weight is 150lbs (68kg) Bit annoying that despite not really drinking and doing 750 miles on the road bike since getting it beginning of April, weight training 3x a week and running/badminton weekly I have not actually lost any weight.

    Very strange. Guess you cannot out train a bad diet…..

    You should Jamie – they’re a hell of a lot harder than you’d imagine.

    Plus there’s a high proportion of feminine lycra clad lovelies… not something you get in your average freeweights area.

    dont have scales at home… dont think they’d appreciate a naked tubby phil down at the gym before it opens either 🙁

    saying that when i’ve weighed myself at the gym its been fairly consistant in that i’ve been dressed, usually in the same clothing and its a similar time of day (after work – so after breakfast, lunch, snacks and 3ish litres of liquid)

    i’ve been doing my own diet, well change of diet…. its not quite iDave but certain principles are similar… its a lot more forgiving though. no increase in exercise.. in fact a decrease over winter and then injury keeping me off the bike.

    my stats are the same as mol’s. started of about 91-92kg similar time he posted the photo, and down to 83kg (sometimes 84kg depending on if i’ve downed 750mls-1ltr of water on the way)

    Jamie – cut back on the weights. 2 total body workouts a week with minimal rest between exercises… or even try Bodypump/
    Do HIIT and swimming instead?

    I’m down to 73kg from 81kg, since 22nd April (When I last bothered to weigh myself) 181cm tall. On an iDave lite: no pasta, rice or bread, but 4 pieces of fruit per day, and museli/milk in the mornings + small glass of fruit juice.

    No probs cycling the 6.5 mile each way commute or playing squash either.

    Abs beginning to appear 🙂

    Not going to happen at this point in time, as i’m quite enjoying it at the moment.

    Might give box-fit a go on Thursday tho.

    Funny old business this. When I worked in Bristol I rode in up to 4 times a week at 42 miles each way and gained 3-4kg. I didn’t go mental with food, I just ate more carbs as is traditionally recommended… I wish I’d been on iDave then!

    Really? Right….new plan:

    1) Get girlfriend
    2) Have long walks on beaches, go cinemas and choose ‘our song’
    3) Get chucked by girlfriend (acrimoniously as possible)
    4) ???????
    5) Lose weight

    Start doing one armed weights on your good side.

    There is evidence that suggest this will promote muscular development on both sides of the body.

    Oh, and use the leg machines at the gym. Biggest muscles = best way to lose weight.

    I’m having some real issues with this. I lose loads of weight during the week, and while I know it’s not a calorie controlled diet I don’t tend to eat 2500 cals a day when on it as it’s filling, then pile it all back on in the off-day and the next day. I went from 16 9 to 16 4 during a week, then went back to 16 8 in the day of my food carnage and the day after. I’m taking 3 steps forward and 2 back.

    @ jamie – is some of your weight not muscle though? i know when i started doing more weights (x2 a week of full body) and road riding more, i went from 49kgs (oh those were the days!) to 54kgs where i seem to sit pretty much consistently – the expection being when i run which is 52kgs as i lose muscle, and just now where i can’t seem to maintain speed/power if i drop below what i am now (55kgs).

    It could just be the case, that like every diet/training method etc, this approach may not work for you.

    haha jamie, i knew posting such a well known myth would get a response after nobody commented on my post describing my weight loss 😛 it even says “Remember, muscle will not turn into fat and fat will not turn into muscle” on a plaque on the wall in front of the X-trainer in the gym.

    mums very much a feeder, mrsconsequence isnt a feeder, but she’s a chocoholic and dinner without a pudding is her idea of torture.

    Some should be, put only 1-2kg max I would say.

    I work on the wok method though.

    If side on it looks like I am smuggling a wok under my t-shirt, I need to lose some weight. Muscle gained or not.

    Congrats on cracking the 84Kg barrier. Question now is, can you continue eating this way…. 😉

    Don’t post a pic until you’re ready / have plateaued. Otherwise, whats the point ?, it would be a before and during, not before and after.
