Awful week this week with being all over with work and only having options for food with carbs, still back on track last night. My wife is making some cracking stuff that meets the requirements, last night was onion rings made with gram flour batter…

If you dont have an option, is it ok to eat carbs? Or is it better not to eat at all?

Eat the carbs I’d say. If you don’t eat at all you’ll get out of sync… At least I would.

I did wonder that. As I am assuming there is a certain binary quality of the plan, i.e as soon as you eat too many carbs you are no longer doing the diet. So is that the week written off, or what?

No, not really. It’s not all or nothing. If you do half the diet you’ll get half the effect. So one meal messed up is just one insulin spike which results in a little more fat (possibly) which you can then lose again by continuing to eat properly.

my first weigh in this morning after more or a little less (… yes a couple of beers on some eves but way less booze than i have been drinking. red wine i can’t touch or i get a murderous hangover from almost nothing) and stoked with a 3lb loss. even more so as due to a pesky bug and stuff in the week i’ve had no exercise at all. best bit is that i feel so much better overall.

Gav – I (used to) suffer really badly with headaches after red wine, but now I’m drinking enough water all day every day and funnily enough I don’t seem to suffer so badly anymore.

    Just thought I’d say.

I wonder if there actually is a James on here?

Do real world names count ?.
    😉

I’m glad I didn’t suffer any of the symtoms you lot list, when I started on the plan.
Although its not difficult to imagine one’s body putting its parts on if one withdraws the bad carbs.
But as we’re seeing, it all settles down again.

Jenson Button 6′ and 72 Kg. Hhhhmmm. Not sure I’d want to be that lean. Still, if you’re going to strap yourself into a carbon track missile, earn millions and attract the attention of beautiful women.
    Err, hang on a minute….

What’s the score regarding binging out on carbs/crap in the evening during pig-out day? Based on the belief that eating carbs (in particular) are ‘better’ for weight loss when processed earlier in the day. Hence wondering if there’s a cut-off point to eating the really bad stuff even on a day off …

Just treat the whole day as fair game. As long as you are not getting up at 4am and going to bed at 3am, you should be ok.

I’m really struggling with the diet today.

It’s my day off and I don’t really fancy anything that’s not on the banned list. I might have to force myself to eat a piece of bread and butter.

That red pepper up there is going to scare some veggies. The “I wont eat anything that’s got a face” brigade.

Today it was a bowl of cereal (get plenty of eggs in the week!), a cake, a large latte, half a frappucino, another doughnut, some mini doughnuts, a regrettably small helping of crisps, 500ml coke and some marshmallows.. wondering what to snack on next before lunch 🙂 Really going for it today. Also got some chips for this evening which I haven’t had in forever.

TM, do you weigh yourself same time each week? Never found that to happen other than after a binge day and then it dips back low again.

same time, same conditions, same scales, everything.

bit bemused really, maybe the scales need resetting ?

i’ll keep the faith, just a tad confusing.

i have drunk far more water this week. could it be the old favourite excuse – water retention ?

i figured out what the off day is for. no nothing to do with fending off starvation mode or somesuch rubbish, its to remind yourself how rubbish you feel when you eat junk (he says about to tuck into pringles and peanuts whilst watching top gear with the lad. then eat a large mother-in-laws pasty).

that’s not really a day off solo – you need a proper go at food. lots of it too, and include bad stuff

    Right then. A proper go:

    2 x Cheese rolls
    2 x Snickers
    1 x Kit Kat
    2 x Small burgers
    Some crisps
    Some chocolate brazil nuts
    some beer
    Maybe some whiskey soon
    Pasta tonight with some ragu.

Phew !, I’ll admit to struggling to get that lot down my neck today so far.
It better flipping vapourize next week though….
    😯

    😆

Right, I’m off for a beer.

I must say I do feel like crap today. Quite tired and rather unhealthy. I never used to experience any of the ill effects people talk about from sugar or carbs but now I do. If I just have sweet coffees and cakes for breakfast I get an unpleasant sugar rush to the head.

Sandwiches and more coke for lunch, pizza and more coke for dinner with yet more ice cream. Pretty grim actually! Should’ve had more fruit.

What’s the deal with the water btw? I mean I know other diets have suggested it reduces hunger pangs but it sounds like there’s some metabolic reason for it here.

You’re all buggers! I was thinking my day off was going well with pick n mix and a load of bad things… Then I popped on here and saw what you lot have eaten! So I’ve topped off my day with custard creams and a cold chip mayonnaise stottie bread butty! Ah bliss!

I do wish I’d had chips tho. I’d make some to snack on but I’m stuffed!

Yesterday I ate half a cake, black pudding and bacon baguette, steak and chips, muesli, scrambled eggs on toast, a banana, 2 satsumas, a load of dried fruit and nuts, some chocolate and 3 bottles of cider.

Today I’ve had 3 bananas, 3 nature valley bars, 4 slices of toast, a pan au chocolate, a large portion of fries, spag bog, a frapuccino with extra cream, 2 bottles of lucozade sport, 125g of dried fruit and nuts some chocolate and I’m working my way through the standard cider dosage. Oh and an apple, plus I might have some strawberrys in a minute.

I call it the ANTiDiet. Tomorrow is my on day, and a break from exercise.

Fat bastards. I’m doing something wrong, 50miles in the pissing rain and wind and all I was rewarded with was smoked mackerel, tatty’s and veg.

Bought some of those digital calipers and tried them out then also did all the online basic tests to try and figure out my approximate fat %… and the results are that I am already a skinny knacker! Lol. But I still want to stay on this diet until I am down to 12 stone.

DTF – WTF, you only built 50 miles of dry stone wall in a day? That’s quite disappointing….
