Just finished listening to DJ Paulette’s Essential mix. Tres bon.

“DJ Paulette joins the musical dots of her outstanding 30-year career with two hours of pure house music. Featuring tracks from Floorplan, Larry Heard, and Special Request.”

I’d suggest listening to Hot Since 82 if this is your kind of thing. Don’t know how to embed videos, sorry, but here’s a link.

Thanks – that was a great recommendation. I’d heard the name but hadn’t listened until now. Excellent, right to my tastes. The ‘Live from a Pirate Ship’ and ‘Live from a Lagoon’ mixes on YT are good. Currently listening to his Recovery album.

I heard Channel Tres on 6 music yesterday for the first time and he really reminded me of Moodymann who I’m a big fan of.

Ok this isn’t really house music .. but it’d fit into a deep/progressive house set for sure. I pulled out an old Royksopp album for the drive somewhere this week. Not listened to it in 12 years or more. Thought it was all fairly ok/average, until this. Really took me by suprise. Incredible – powerful, moody, just stunning. I’d be amazed if it had never made it into a film soundtrack or a computer game.

Reminds me a little of this track, first heard in the middle of a deep/techy prog house mix and .. wow. It’s quite dark and a bit of a buzzkill in a way on it’s own but the whole mix is so good at times. Stick with it to the break as it’s a slow burner. Vocals are by Sting’s daughter Eliot Sumner, popfans.

@jameso – nice to see another Legends regular. I loved that place

Have you read the Vice article

The Small Town Nightclub That Quietly Changed British Clubbing Forever

Just been happily going through this thread again for Friday afternoon jukebox, missed this @binners. Legends forever! Great article, I hadn’t seen it or appreciated the background of it all. Along similar lines I enjoyed Grayson Perry’s recent series on Englishness on the BBC where he covered the Northern Soul scene.

Sounding quite polished/progressive for 1992. Sasha tho.

I’d just forgotten the original, not listened to that album in along time. Hard track to get a good remix from I think.

Thinking of good mainstream house tunes from that 2000-ish era, this always sounded good to me

Remembered the tune, forgot the name but saw it linked to another track – classic early 90s piano trance house

Some great tracks on this album “Ambient House” released on DFC 1990.

Definitely recommend the next track too on the album too:

Not a link to a tune, but between around 94-99 I spent most Saturdays at the Que Club in Birmingham

Same! My mate Paul used to do the VJ stuff with all the trippy lights and visuals so we’d get in for free and able to go up on stage, which was an AMAZING view – not only the crowd but of people like Dave Clarke, Speedy J, DJ Rush etc etc. Best times ever.

One night that still makes me smile was being in one of the larger back rooms watching Grooverider drop a dnb mix of Papua New Guinea omfg that was the best.

Then when the Q closed up we’d be off to the afters at West End bar for a while then to Sunny D’s.

    Sunday lunch anyone? ;o)
