Couldn’t find this thread last week – I made it to 2 in 2 nights.

    Wednesday: Enola Gay
    Thursday: Therapy?

    Both rather good!

Got Therapy? next week. And Reef with A on friday- not a massive Reef fan tbh but they did impress me last time, and A are always worth the price of entry

Went and saw Everything Everything at the weekend at Newcastle. Always good value (3rd time I’ve seen them) lots of new stuff, many crowd pleasers as well.

Was supposed to be seeing Black Country new road

Someone bought one of their early 7″ singles off me the other day… £150! Quite an investment that 😀

My next gig is P Money – bit of grime. Wonder if I’ll be able to get a glimpse of the stage through the reefer smoke and phone screens…

Had to miss warmduscher last weekend as a friend of my wife’s birthday. Mate had a spare ticket. It was his daughter’s 16th but he clearly has his priorities right! Had tickets to see them in July 2020 but something happened that meant it got cancelled…
I’d like to see folly group, I’m liking their stuff. My son saw them at yes bar in Manchester at a really early just coming out of lockdown gig. All seated socially distanced. Must’ve been weird.

Selling vinyl…. Sacrelige! It’s for keeping alphabetically in racks to look at don’t you know!
Discogs is dangerous. Apparently my oasis lps are worth quite a bit. More than my mum’s copy of sergeant pepper surprisingly.

I made a vow never to again, when I sold a load to a 2nd hand shop when I was a cash strapped teenager. Regretted it ever since! But when I saw what that BCNR single was up for… I mean, I don’t even like them anymore 😀

Was browsing Facebook on Saturday afternoon instead of doing diy and saw that Pictish Trail was playing in Chester about 45 mins up the road from me, so me and the missus went and had a lovely time. Johnny of top form as usual, small crowd but I guess Chester like Shrewsbury is well off the band tour beaten track, he had sold out Bristol, Leeds etc. Had a nice catch up chat with him and a hug for making the effort.

Worth catching if you fancy some bonkers pop from the wee island of Eigg.

Did a recent session for Mark Riley

Sunday just gone saw a four piece called bandit. Scouse indie. Very much arctic monkeys inspired. Only about 30-40 in the room. The youngsters seemed to have fun. I was with my usual gig buddy whose son had bought the tickets then couldn’t make it after a covid reschedule of the date. Thanks Dan.
Just booked tickets for hebden trades to see bug club in November. A venue I’ve wanted to go to for a long time, can’t wait! Yay!
    A weekend in Calderdale awaits!
Plus Kae Tempest next month. Looking forward to that.

Got one coming up in a couple of weeks or so, at quite possibly the best named venue I’ve ever been to, The Slaughtered Lamb in that there London. Never been there before, it’s to see Kris Delmhorst with her husband Jeffrey Foucault. Seen Kris a number of times, once when she was eight months pregnant, quite a feat considering she lives in America, and was trying to play guitar and sing along with the traveling! Never seen Jeffrey play, but I’ve got some of his recordings, and they’re sharing the stage, each singing their own songs while the other does bv’s and plays.

Should be a really good evening.

We’ve been plugging away promoting our own night in rural East Devon – sometimes playing with my band, Putting on other local bands, doing the sound, etc.

Got our first sold out gig tonight 😬 130 tickets sold + bands and crew…..in a 150 capacity venue.

Us (The Supermercados) & another local band.

It’s going to be hot, sweaty, and messy 😆

All my April gigs have been moved or cancelled 😠 I thought covid wasn’t an issue anymore.
    Just May 2nd now, Jockstrap.
Then Wet Leg, sold out at the Wedgewood Rooms. Not sure I can be arsed, don’t like sold out gigs, too many cretins with phones.

If you have a wet leg after jockstrap I can see why you’d want to avoid people filming on their phones.

if you don’t want your Wet Leg ticket I’d be interested.

Going to see Ride on Wed at Bedford Esquires. It’s a kind of secret warm up gig before they tour so I’m hoping it will be decent, esquires only holds about 150.

I was lucky enough to see Kae Tempest at a little gig at Rough Trade where they did an acapella set of the new album. Very good and felt a bit special.

I’ve got PIL, wet leg, beabadobee lined up later in the year and the Forwards festival in Bristol which should be a great line up that closes with the Chemical brothers.

    Can’t wait.

Music is Murder @ the Exeter Phoenix tomorrow night.
Random electronica, noise terrorism, improvisational larks, and general sound madness. Should be fun 😆

Got to the Slaughtered Lamb at about 6pm, and it was rammed! Loads of people outside, and it’s possibly the noisiest pub I’ve ever been in. Probably 90%+ of the clientele weren’t there to see Kris and Jeff, and I could easily pick out those that were, age being an easy identifier!

Kris and Jeff were on top form, joking and laughing between songs, making snarky remarks about the noise from upstairs, but it was great to see Kris again. Afterwards she was selling some merch, turned to me, gave me a big smile and said hi, how are you, lovely to see you again! I said I was pretty sure the last time was at the Green Note, when she was eight months pregnant, her daughter is now 13! 😳 It’s a nice feeling when an artist who’s music you love recognises and remembers you even after all that time.

Hopefully she’ll be able to get back here sooner than that. 😁

Got Sleeper, Kate Rusby, the Kristin Hersh Trio and Nick Mason’s ‘Saucerful Of Secrets’ coming up over the next three weeks or so.

Blondie in Glasgow on Friday night, the band were excellent and Debbie can still sing a bit. Johnny Marr, however, sounded like he was singing underwater a long way away….

Ride last night. Enjoyed it. Band a little rusty in places, but still way better than they were back in the day, they can really make good noise nowadays. Interesting they appear to be picking up more new fans every time I see them, there were a lot of people there way younger than Nowhere, which is cool.

First time I’ve been to the Marble Factory. Salubrious it is not. Back there for the 2 year delayed Oh Sees next month.

I’m off to Stowaway Festival to see Elder Island in August. It’s our first festival as a “blended family”, two adults and three kids in two vans. It’s only 20 minutes from home if it all goes pear shaped.

I must say, those with tix for Wet Leg will not be disappointed. I was expecting dullness, however was most pleasantly entertained for a short while 😀 Glad I went!
