Clint Eastwood = Million Dollar Baby

    Kate Winslett = Little Children

I could easily watch these two films over and over.

Also, DISTRICT 9, want the DVD..

I thought Burn after reading was a rollocking good yarn (but to be fair I love ALL the Coen Brothers movies)

    Also, In Bruges, another classic!

From a couple of years ago now but I saw Brokeback Mountain for the first time last night and thought it was excellent.

Disagree strongly on Seven Pounds but that could just be my underlying distaste for Will Smith.

Enjoyed District 9 a lot – something truly different.

The Dark Knight is the most recent one that stood out for me.

I liked the Bourne Ultimatum as well.

Bladerunner though… timeless for me. Really like it.

3 pages so far and nobody has ever mentioned Crank, so faith has been restored in this forum.

Saw this weird black & white one last night, made in a very old style. Employed a lot of techniques seen many times before, & the storyline copied ideas from 12 Monkeys – started with a guys death then worked through the events leading to it. Not sure it'll do that well though.
    'Citizen Kane', it was called…

Cinema, for me at least, has had very few amazing films out recently (that I have seen anyway). I'm going to make a sweeping generalisation now, so bear with me…

Most films these days seem to be either:

    1. Remakes of older films that have done well in the past, most of which have been dire in comparison to the originals.

    2. Franchised x+1 films from comic books that are either iconic or popular

    3. Rubbish

I seriously cannot think of a film that has made me mentally shout "That was an amazing film!" that came out recently. I may be wrong; I do not get out to the cinema as much as I used to, but cinema seems to be degenerating.

Apocalyspe Now is still awesome, as is Bladerunner, but those are almost as old as me.

    100!

FWIW, I was absolutely blown away by Kill Bill 1 in the cinema – not really entirely sure why on watching it again on TV but I remember leaving the cinema thinking that it had been a brilliant experience…
