the dup/uup wagging the tory dog through the brexit negotiation is.
I’d rather an out right tory majority.

Sophies Choice but I do now understand what you meant . Cheers

This is better than the Eurovision contest/thread. Hopefully my marginal seat has gone Tory -> Labour. (Weaver Vale)

It depends what you’re hoping for. In the short term maybe, but even the medium term doesn’t look so bad as a Tory majority – I’ve said it before so I’ll say it again, Brexit looks a whole, whole lot better without the Tories in charge.

Corbyn led coalition of chaos, propped up by Sinn Féin.

I am sure Ninfan would appreciate the top trolling 😉

Any blow landed on the Tories improves the potential to get a grip on the Brexit fiasco and slam the brakes on, maybe even hit reverse. Hope springs eternal.

    Hope does indeed spring eternal.

I suspect that that number of remainers who the recent polls suggest have accepted Brexit against their wishes will turn right back again into strong remainers if they’re given a strong leader to follow with a positive vision for staying in…

anyone remember Cameron’s advice to Corbyn in Parliament?

“get a suit, put on a tie and learn to sing the national anthem”

I guess 2 out of 3 ‘aint bad.

Newcastle Central. Labour pick up UKIP votes. As with brexit, the north east seats are showing the way.

I still actually can’t believe any of this. Shivers down the bloody spine!

There doesn’t have to be a PM – there isn’t one right now IIRC. Parliament is dissolved. again from vague memory the speaker acts as PM in the meantime

If the exit poll is right i don’t view it as a disaster

I’d much rather have a progressive lab/lib/snp alliance governing and negotiating brexit than the tory scum

Snr Labour source says if exit poll correct means Lab had biggest increase in vote in campaign by any party in recent times “by some margin”

Ah yes, I think you’re right TJ – so Theresa would have to go to see Queenie again if she’d not been a total disaster. I guess that does mean she can walk away tomorrow.

I think the MP’s stand down but the cabinet stays in place, so we still have a PM, Home Sec etc

That’s how R4 explained it the other week when parliament was dissolved

How do you work that out from 2 very safe opposition seats?

    Ruth Davidson for PM?

Not an MP but I’m sure they can do some by-election magic:)

Tories outperforming exit poll in both results so far – so who knows what is right?

Exit poll is across UK, two seats called are 20 miles apart. But first bit of good news for the conservatives tonight

From the swing, both suggest the Tories will do better than the exit poll predicted…

More than happy to be proved wrong though 🙂

    POSTED 5 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST

Won’t happen, but it couldn’t happen to a more odious and cynical political slimeball if it did.

I’m ambivalent towards quite a few of the Tory ministers, but not him. His programme to starve, brief against and push to privatise the NHS is an utter disgrace and he deserves to be pilloried from now until the day he quits politics as a result.

Oldies vote more via postal votes and they arent included in exit polls

v large postal turnout so I suspect itll go back the other way

still nice to see the tories bricking it for now

Aye, UKIP vote crashing has benefitted Tories far more than Labour. Exit polls less accurate in “safe” seats. As ever, it’s the marginals what will decide it.

Either way, May’s days are numbered and Tories won’t have anywhere near the majority they were hoping for.

I still suspect we’ll have an overall Tory majority – but they now look shaky. Tusk, Verhofstadt and Juncker are all lighting cigars and laughing their arses off.

Mefty – you said 25% postal, the figure I’d seen was 16%. Genuine question. Got a source?

Going to bed now. Pretty sure that, at the minimum, a good solid shot has been landed on the jaw of the Tories and their burghers.

    May’s days are numbered

    absolutley. Dead girl walking.

However, as always alluded to, the tories dont f*** about when it comes to pushing dead weight out of the balloon.

Assuming a scraped majority, May is out within a week, who’s top choice for fantasy PM? I can not think of a single member of the tory front bench that has the intellectual capability, honesty and candour to run the show competently. Maybe Hammond at a stretch, but only because he hasnt really done anything noteworthy or stupid.
