Mocking Sessions’s accent, Trump added, “This guy is mentally retarded. He’s this dumb Southerner. …

I wonder if large swathes of his ‘base’ will eventually twig the level of pure contempt ‘their’ president has for them. I doubt it, but you never know.

Be interesting to see what happens after latest book, Trump hated Tilerson after the Moron comments leaked

Sessions & Trump already have a poisonous relationship, so much not different

Kelly surely can’t last, Trump’s gonna be furious with him after

We’re in Crazytown. I don’t even know why any of us are here. This is the worst job I’ve ever had

Chief of Staff Kelly repeatedly calls Mr Trump an “idiot” and said that “it’s pointless to try to convince him of anything

What happens with Dowd could be important, if Trump lays into him the likelihood of him helping Meuller further increases

& That’s thin-skinned Donny’s problem, he’s gonna react & it just increases the likelihood of his ex-employees flipping on him the way everyone else has

This latest story about a GOP whitehouse insider thwarting Trumps crazier plans is rather weird

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/sep/05/donald-trump-oped-white-house-resistance

    as is Trumps response

& the whitehouse have just confirmed it by asking the to resign?

tbh it all seems too improbable to be true

tbh it all seems too improbable to be true

I cant see the NY Times publishing something that liable to damage them without being really, really confident.

Also wouldnt surprise me that hardcore republicans (or democrats/tories/labour/any random political party. okay labour is a bit unusual in that it seems some hate Corbyn so much they wouldnt be able to take that approach. That or dont believe they would win) would be pushing the bits which suit them whilst trying to block the stuff which doesnt. Remember his key value to the republicans is to be able to load the Supreme Court (plus lower ones) with hard right wing judges in order to ensure even when the tide turns they will still have major influence.

So whilst I wouldnt take some of the claims in that article overly seriously I can easily believe plenty of those in positions of power arent overly happy he is in charge and will be trying to check any of his random impulses which dont suit their particular ideology.

An official statement from White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said: “Nearly 62 million people voted for President Donald J. Trump in 2016,

Thats all well and good but over 65 million voted for Hillary, however thanks to the electoral college vote they have an orange bawbag who throws his toys out his pram at every opportunity

Having seen the documentary on them, they have access, Trump even called them a couple of times. They are having meetings with plenty of sources.

The biggest fear for the Republicans (FFS GOP – Grand Old Party is an outdated term) is that he takes them all down, midterms looming current forecast 75% chance of Democrat control = paralysis for them. Senate is not really winable for the dems at this point, 1 seat majority is possible if it all falls well as they are only voting on the wrong seats for them.

The biggest fear for the Republicans

Thats the gamble isnt it. As you say the seats open for election favours them and the win is that a lot of judges positions are up for grabs including the supreme court (especially after their blocking throughout the latter years of Obama) so if they chose well for youngish judges they will be able to shift the political landscape for several presidencies.

I think your missing how many judges so far, the job is almost there with that one. Last supreme court is the win. It could better to cut losses now but who knows. I’ve linked before but Project538 are talking a lot about how trumpy some people are going in the races and how some are not. Same with NPR Politics who are looking across the board and trying to be impartial but hey you have to laugh when everyone is flipping on Trump.

Nah. They are doing well but in lower courts still seats to fill and in the supreme court the average age suggests some upcoming seats for grabs so long as approval stays in their favour. Obviously any democrats will be hanging on but there is a chance to move it from 5-4 to even more in their favour. Especially since some of the 5 still are judges first and hardcore republicans second.

Its messy and if I was a republican candidate I wouldnt want to try and figure out which way to go. Although pro trump would almost certainly get me the republican nomination too much arse licking might knacker me.

The question to ask is, what is the author trying to achieve by publishing that now?

Well the woodword book being written by somebody with credibility sets up a good spring board for it.

Thats all well and good but over 65 million voted for Hillary

And 122 million didn’t vote for either of them.

Historically turn out is pretty poor for the Mid Terms – even fewer people vote in the mid-terms than vote in presidential elections and the last turnout was the lowest for decades at 36%

It would be interesting to see how many Americans, in the context of everything thats going on right now, just don’t give a shit.

I’m still not sure about the NYT story, elaborate plant by Trump so he can decry all MSM as fakenews & distract from the far more credible claims in Woodword book?

Secretly written by Pence to force out Trump ? ☺️

Tbh I don’t get the motivation of the leaker, if ihey want to pursue a republican agenda, trump is mostly letting them, why rock the boat? especially before the midterms.

Trump hasn’t drained the swamp, he’s dammed the creek & the crap just keeps building up.

You have to look at what Trump has delivered for GOP and what he is likely to be capable of delivering after the midterms.

So far, tax cuts, and soon, the second conservative Supreme Court justice.

Congress is almost certain to go Democrat in the midterms, after which time they can expect nothing else of substance.

It may be convention to allow the incumbent POTUS a clean run at the next presidential election, but I’m sure there are some calculations going on as to whether he’s going to even make it to 2020 due to Mueller, in which case he probably needs to get the push sooner to give someone else a realistic chance.

    From the Woodward book…WTF?

The ‘Lodestar’ thing either confirms that Pence is very dumb indeed, or that some genius is stitching him up.

EDIT: On reflection, that ‘extract’ cannot be real! So I’m the dumb one!

There are a lot of “fakes” going round pretending to be from the Woodward book, not sure if they are designed to discredit it or compliment it (?) . That whole paragraph doesn’t even read like trump is saying it…

    Yes, I’ve reconsidered that one…

Trouble is, we’re at the stage where you almost believe anything is possible. That is too coherent to be Trump!

Don’t forget Trump and the NYT have a long history. When he was merely a real estate crook he desperately wanted to be part of New York “society” and the Times ruthlessly mocked him for it, printing endless stories about his gaffs and stupidity at various city functions. This is just the next in a line of hatchet jobs.

It hurts the Donald as it constantly reminds him that no matter what he achieves the NYT just reminds everyone that he’s just a dumbass realtor

I like the way he refers to TNYT as ‘failing’. If it is, it’s taking a remarkably long time to fail.

Also his complaint that it’s ‘biased’. Aaah bless. Nedder mind den ikkle wickle Pwesident. Just concentrate on the even-handed Fox News.

I just saw him say his approval rating is going through the roof, so I went and had a look.

    53.7 disapprove, 39.9 approve.

It will barely be discussed though as it is lost amongt all of the to other White House drivel.
