I bought an X9 2×10 direct mount front mech last week, to replace the SLX 3×9 on the Dune (it’s the only bit of Shimano on it).

The problem is it doesn’t fit! It’s got the correct direct mount on it but the pivots are too wide to fit against the frame. The back pivot is fine as it’s in the space between the tyre & frame but the front pivot pushes against the frame so I can’t tighten the mount into its correct position and the cage hangs diagonally across the rings. 🙁

It turns out Shimano mechs have much narrower pivots that fit behind the mount, not either side of it like the X9.

Has anyone else come across this problem, and if so is there a bodge to fix it? (TBH I’m not expecting one, but you never know.)
