MHW Bike House have said mine arrives for assembly next week. Paid £1550 for a 19″ SL. Hoping I don’t get the sorry, not in stock email this week.

Posted pix look great. Good upgrade on the Pro. Makes a lot of sense. Couldn’t resist the DT Swiss wheels and full XT. Heard SID can be a little flexy. Will see.

Have to say the Reba was rock solid, even when i hit the tree!!!

Its a great bike, i just need to be carefull, was carrying much more speed than i normally would, hence the crash.

What bracket is that for the garmin Steve? Was thinking about buying one for the Forerunner 305 ya see.

Its a modified light bracket from Halfords with some mods to the mount and bolted on.

I have one on the road bike too. I Like having it out in fornt away from the bars, ironically i smashed it and my Garmin in the crash.

Btw, ive only used my bike once since ive got it and thats only been from the train station on the way back from picking it up lol. I noticed that when off the saddle, and when i power down on the right pedal, i can hear the front break disk squeal and make a noise.
You reckon its just cause the bikes new and the disks need bedding in or do my front pads need moving out a bit?

It also happens when im on the bike and lean the bike right over to the left, whilst im leaning to the right!

Have you checked the QR is done up tight?

Does the brake only rub when turning or putting the power down?

If the disc central in the caliper?

If it only rubs as you describe & the QR is tight give the brakes a chance to bed in.

If it’s not stopped my the time the bikes due it’s 1st free check up inform the shop (they are giving you a free bike check up aren’t they?)

Ok cheers bud, ill give the brakes time to bed in. It might even be that the SID forks are way to flexible like some people have already said. If thats the case ill be on the phone from where i got it from.

    POSTED 1 DAY AGO # REPORT-POST

Nope… 29ers in stock… Hence the 19″ frame size of the GTC SL on display.

The brakes deffo need some time to bed in, mine were making all sorts of noises at the start of my ride, by the end they were performing much better.

Not sure about the brake rubbing, but the same thing happens on my road bike with steel rigid forks.

The SIDs on my 26 were noticably more flexable than the Recons they replaced, they are a big improvment, and about 1kg lighter too.

The Rebas seem pretty good on the Pro.

    By the way, lines like:

‘The manufacturer only has one left in stock’

    ‘They are running out’

    ‘They have sold out’

…are all lines used to prompt you to buy now / other bikes!

Always shop around and push for the best price. If they won’t drop their retail price ask for additional kit or upgrades.

I saved nearly £300 quid on my Cube Reaction GTC Pro by doing this. All the UK shops wouldn’t budge – no even a quid. MHW Bike House were cheaper to begin with then gave me a best price which was lower again.

I tried 8 bike shops including my local who is a Cube dealer, he could not get a reaction. They were only available if the bike shop had pre ordered them back in October.

I got the only pro that came into the shop i bought from and had to wait 6 weeks for it to come. I did get a discount on some bits i bought and 3 years 0%, so i’m more than happy.

    p.s. the bike is mega.

I just thought I would come back and update you regarding the frame failure on my Reaction GTC 29 Pro on the first ride. I mailed Cube with full details of the problem asking them to give some explanation or assurance that this would not happen again in order to persuade me to take a replacement (opposed to refund). I waited patiently but received nothing in response (other than confirmation of receipt of the message). I re-sent the message three days ago but still no reply. I checked with the bike shop who had also raised a query and they have also not had any word back.

As well over a week has now passed I take it that Cube are unable to give any explanation or promise that this was a one off. Have to say I keep reading all the posts of happy owners with some envy as I too can confirm that the bike rides superbly but I am afraid that I am not prepared to risk so much cash when Cube refuses to offer any response to fundamental failure of their frame.

Paul if you can give me an email address i can send you a direct email link to one of the Cube tech guys in Germany. He has been very good.

It must be crap but you need to give them a bit more time.

From my experience Cube can be a bit slow but have replaced a faulty frame (26) of mine – without even seeing it. Just sent them photos.

Keep us up to date on how it progresses.

They sent a new alloy frame to my lbs with a couple of days of being notified about it being bent, they didnt see the bike and you wouldn’t see the bend in photos. I’ve only ever heard good things about their warranty / customer service.

Refund now accepted and ti 26 er being built. Few quid more but feel a little safer with tried and trusted ti. Thanks for the offers of help and assistance but I am over carbon for an MTB frame for now.

Ok first challenge already…does anyone know where I can get the technical manual for the SID RL forks the SRAM site seems to have a corrupt page. Having always had Fox forks these are new to me so want to see the specs for setup

    Thanks

How are you finding the traction using the standard tyres?

Mine arrives soon and am considering buying some mud tyres.

Single track condition are very muddy here.

JPothecary – I messaged Cube via Facebook when I had the same issue for my 26 GTC Pro.

There isn’t one as such. The setting are printed on the fork lowers. So depending on the sag you want between 10% and 30% will depend on the pressure you put in the top and bottom valve. My lockout is a bit pants though so it would be good to know how to adjust that.

I find the racing raplh and rock ron fine to behonest. Different tyres for different conditions and all that.

RL you can’t, the T gives you the threshold adjust IIRC.

Pressure wise, try 10psi less in the -ve than the +ve, inflate the +ve first, keeping the -ve below the +ve in pressure. And bike upside down to adjust the -ve…

My lockout failed after a few rides, when applied it just hissed loudly when you pumped the forks…

LBS sorted it during it’s first service though and it’s still ok at the moment.

The nearest I found to a technical manual for fork set up is this: Rocshox Dual Air Tuning Guide

I’ve been impressed with the standard tyres so far, on a couple of occasions the Ron up front has held on when I though it was going to end badly!

Sorry for delay in reply, all time spent sourcing parts and fitting as they arrive. I now have a part built 2010 Lynskey Ridgeline LT (unmarked). Was really missing the 29er but new Revelations, full xt, reverb, hope pro 3 with stans crest and easton carbon bars are doing a pretty fine job of making me smile again. Until credit card bill comes in that is!

Still no reply from Cube on my e-mail about the frame failure (Reaction GTC 29 Pro in earlier posts). Slow is not the word.

bugcab – are you in touch with the retailer? They are the ones who should sort it out for you…

    gsp1984

Yeah, you shouldn’t be contacting cube direct, they won’t respond unless your an authorised dealer.

Get in touch with the supplying dealer. Cube sorted my frame warranty super quick time through the AD.

Took mine out for her virgin ride last night, I am very happy. Not got a lot to compare it to, but wow 😀

Retailer sent mail at the same time. No response as of last wednesday but will check back with them.

Was hoping that Cube may actually offer some kind of explanation or more importantly assurance that this is a rare/one off scenario. If they had done that I would have felt more comfortable with taking another on the basis that if it failed much later (than first ride) I would have strong grounds for replacement.

As there are many happy riders out there with no problems (including me with my cube carbon roadbike) probably not a major flaw, just a quirk in the manufacturing process of that frame.

I hope so Bugcap. None of us want somthing that is going to fall apart as soon as it hits some rough ground. I hope it gets sorted because it really is a great bike.

I have just ordered a Kronolog for mine, so will see if that will stop me spending any more money on bike bits for a while!!!! It better.

    Still waiting for mine 😕
