Used them for over a decade now.

I’ve a lot of respect for companies that have focus on doing one thing really well.

Used to love them, and had a friend who worked for them, then they moved production from the UK to South Africa so I’m out.

Nice! I’ve tried a lot of good quality socks and without a doubt Bridgedale have been the best in my experience.

@Pauly: is the video deliberately misleading? Do they no longer make socks in the UK? Or did they open an additional factory for the South African market? (Or elsewhere?), in addition to the UK factory?
The video makes it look like they make their socks in Northern Ireland – is that wrong?

I’ve a pair of Bridgedale socks and they are fantastic. I need to buy some more pairs but I’ll be trying to get them in the sales as I’m too tight to spend that amount of money on a single pair of socks, no matter how comfy they are. Actually, Christmas is coming up, so I’ll ask the family to get together and get me a few pairs…I hate Christmas for myself so this should be an easy request…

Invested heavily in Bridgedale when I was in the UK and loved them I still have several pairs of the heavier ones that I had for the Army, but have worn out a lot of the lighter pairs. They are not so common here in Sweden, so I have more or less moved to Icebreaker.

Well, according to this advertorial, they were still making socks in Northern Ireland in 2022.

    They also say:

When the first Bridgedales were launched in the early 1980’s there were 3 colours, 2 sizes and 2 lengths, just 12 products, now we have over 500 products in the range and we have factories not only in Northern Ireland but South Africa too.

So yeah, it’s an additional factory, not a replacement. Similarly, forum boot darlings Altberg has its original factory in Richmond, Yorkshire, but also owns a factory in northern Italy.

It’s getting to that time if year when I move into Bridgedale socks until it gets warmer again. Like above, I wait until they’re on sale -not gonna pay full price for them no matter how good they are.

I have loads of them, from their ankle running ones to their winter ones. Expensive but they last and last and last.

I take it back if they do still manufacture in NI. It was over 20 years ago that my friend left after they moved production to SA and I just switched off from the brand. Perhaps they need to improve their marketing – I remember there being a bit of a hoohaa in NI at the time.
