Having done some Google research I’m concerned that there is a potential flaw in my plan to buy a set of 2012 Shimano brakes – the lever is very short and it looks like there may be an issue in getting everything in the right place on the bars.

My setup would be 2012 Shimano brakes (Deore or SLX), SLX shifters (non I-SPEC) and a 2012 RS Reverb lever.

Any photos of everything sitting nicely together would be much appreciated.

Does the reverb remote get in the way of the gear shift?

Also, how do people run 2012 Shimmy brakes, SRAM shifters and a Reverb?

Had this and couldn’t reach the remote, no pics though. So gave up and got some ispec shifters and now everything is where i want it

Pridds would you mind posting a photo with you current setup or emailing it?

Doesn’t get in the way at all Wurzel, there is a slight hint of contact/rub on the shifter lever when I fully press on the Reverb button but not enough to worry about.

Loose your LH shifter and go 1 x 9/10!

Suppose it depends on the riding you do but for Trail centre riding it’s perfect.

    I run my SC Nomad 1 x 9 with a 32T chainring 🙂

I’ve now got mine setup the same as the Nomad above and placed the shifter inboard of the reverb. I swapped the left and right shifter brackets (SLX) which has allowed the shifter to be placed perfectly under the brake lever.

In time I’ll probably go for the new generation of SLX I-SPEC shifters to tidy the bars up but for the timebeing it functions really well.

    Here’s mine…

erm…..that’s quite a setup – any particular reason for running the brake so close to the grip? I assume you’re not getting one-finger braking from that setup?

Brake levers are very short and feels right to have mine in the same place against the grips

Yeah I’ve not managed to get a perfect fit with it. There’s a thread from a while ago

2012 XT brakes / 2010 XTR 9 speed shifters. It doesn’t play nicely under the bar on the left. Options are to bodge a different bracket for the shifters and mount them lower, run the reverb on top of the bar on the right (actually fits fine but the reverb seems a bit too prominent and I’m scared of breaking it). Or just do what I’ve done and move the LH shifter inboard a bit. I have to move my hand slightly to shift, but I’d rather have the Reverb in the most ergonomic position.

    Hello,

In a few days i’m going to buy the reverb and I don´t know which is the best one to buy if left or right remote.

I´d like to set the remote underneath but I don´t know if I can.

I´ve Shimano slx cassette and Avid Elixir 7 brakes

    What do You think?

You must have pretty minuscule hands if you can run the brake lever against the grip and still get one-finger braking.

I think the best option is to get the left remote because if i buy the right remote and i’m not able to set it on the left side underneath I would have to set it near the remote shock all together…

    Do You agree?
