SSUK 2013.... Single speed UK championships.
Grabbing the bull by its great big beefy balls and running with it... Want to get things nailed down. So without the ok from British cycling, the UCI (aren't they a cinema?) and the stw forum mafia.... Here is SSUK 2013.
Previously I have offered to run SSUK, on a somewhat basic basis, Avoiding all the costs, hassles, and troubles... near the seaside and a really great pub. Striped back to campsite, pub instead of marquee, pub gig instead of roller racing, fish and chips instead of powerbars, off road sportive format rather than official race, no entry fees, no insurance, no medics, no marshalls. no gears, no fuss. (No moaning from northerners that the "Race" is nearer France than glorious Macclesfield )
Unless someone tells me to stop. It's the last weekend of May 2013
25/26/27th May 2013
Bank holiday weekend
Friday eve... Pub
Saturday... Ride, beach party, " special cycling event". fish and chips.
Sunday... The "race thing" and pastys and rural pub gig
Monday... take it easy,
This will be the "race thing" HQ and finish line

Sounds great, where's the campsite?
Woodyhyde isn't far or there are plenty of small farmer style sites in worth. Shame you couldn't get it sorted this year as ssuk2012.
There is a campsite Insight of the square.... Looks like a field most of the time, because it is.
Yes, yes, yes!
That's in the diary now.
I'll get spreading the word.
That looks good especially as I am now in possession of a SS, thanks to bits from http://www.charliethebikemonger.com/ ๐
sounds like a fun weekend but IMO SSUK should still involve a race.
will there be stickers ๐
I may have to rebuild one of my bikes as SS for this.
Will you make/mark the course?
And will it include some silly beach riding ๐
Sam there is a race, it is a race, we will be racing... But don't tell anyone with a clip board.
You see they are running (they being wiggle) an offload sportive on public rights of way. You are not allowed to race on briddlepaths ( horse and feet, yes, bikes, no). Wiggle give you a good medal for finishing within a certain time, folk "race" for the medals. We will award a medal to anyone who finishes within a certain time, that time will be decided once someone has finished. Loop hole. Reliability trial... Sportive, Whatever
In the diary, try and stop me.
Thanks Charlie,
APF
Stickers... Certainly
Course... Lightly marked on the ground, with a photocopy map with the route. A bit of map reading may be required.
I think it will be two laps, at around 12 miles each, allowing all the one lap chaps to be at the pub finish line in time for the winners.
Good job. A move away from the try hardery of postcard entries that come to nothing and back to the basics. Thanks.

Oooof!
Sounds perfect, and more towards the SS champs ethics of old
Charlie this sounds like a great idea, I'm sure you would benefit from hosting a 'test event' over the weekend of the 29 & 30 of September.
Like the sound of this!...keep us posted Charlie.
Sp... Nice idea but I am saddle tramping in France on that weekend now... Ferry booked, cork screw packed.
It's looking like a 8 mile ride to the start bankers arms beer garden, studland)
12 more miles brings you to the end of the first lap. Via a few hills, a castle and a cake shop.
Tough two lap chaps will have a further 20 miles.
Possibly 6000 feet of climbing!
I might strava it and see what the stats are.
Looks good. Will it be relatively kiddy friendly?
In like Flynn!
Won't clash with SSEC will it?
PS God bless yer Charlie for all your services to SSing and I'm thinking in particular of your sponsoring the SS prize at Brownbacks here.
more importantly.....
can Ringo bring his dog ?
That's in the diary, now where the flippin eck is this "South" of which you speak?
Bugger, thats WRT weekend. ๐ฅ
Do we not have to paint a picture or hand craft a sculpture something to be even considered for an entry? ๐
Sounds like a bit of a laugh and I've never riden down that way before so you can count me in as long as Ringo's dog can come.
hmm...maybe I should hold onto my single speed stuff as this sounds like a good laugh ๐
will there be precarious balancing on the trail along side Sir Harry?
sounds like 'cocking around on bikes' at it's best!
Q: i'm not blacklisted am i?
Too far away
**** that
Can I have that on a sticker please?
YES!
count me in
Do we need to wear clothes??
DrP
good stuff - DIY punk bike enduro ๐ love it, well done Charlie
Sounds very good!
Nice, will book it off from work tomorrow!
Is that the Square & Compass in Worth Matravers?
Count me in. New to singlespeeding (Not roden geared bike since May)
I am officially quite excited by this- sounds a hoot
Brilliant. Opportunity to make it into a fun family weekend with the wife and kids, do some of the riding and drink some beer. And all within a civilised journey from home.
Gets a whoop from me.
"damn I sold my Gunnar"
"hmmm, must justify that niner"
It is the square, yes...
DrP
Sounds interesting, although it really isn't that hard to organise a proper event. Nothing wrong with paying for an entry fee so long as you get your moneys worth IMO.
That's in the diary, now where the flippin eck is this "South" of which you speak?
follow the signs for 'the south west', turn left a bit, but not much. HTH.
Yeah, stop when you hit the sea or you'll get wet.
Well done Charlie for seizing the initiative, you're a good 'un.
Keen as mustard me.
