I don’t have lightweight wheels. Maybe tomorrow will be the day.

Had them twice now…all about luck mate. I’m sure one of us 20 riders will get them tomorrow.

So to get those light wheels you just need to keep riding up the Alpe? They are gifted to you by luck?

They are gifted to you by luck?

Yes. You should get lucky after 3 or 4 ascents.

    I’ll just leave this here….
    https://zwiftinsider.com/fastest-climbing-by-level/

I’m tempted to go for the Tron. Although it’s a little slower up the hills, it should make up for that on the descents.

Isn’t the real benefit of good climbers for mountain finishes?

    10.5% Brian? Nice one

I was fortunate and found a bottle each of brewdog overworks “hybrid henchman” (a really rather lovely sour with sangiovese) and a “campfire cult” (sour smoky pastry stout, all very much my thing on paper, really not my thing in the same bottle) which had been languishing in the wine rack instead of on the beer shelf. Abysmal hangover averted*.

*Delete which ever one of those three words you wish.

Pretty much. I had them twice in my first 5 attempts but some people haven’t had them after 15 attempts.

    @robbo1234biking

It won’t let me post any messages on Zwift, I’m going up Alpe then back down and that will do me. So don’t wait for me, cheers.

    Cheers everyone!

That was hard and enjoyable at the same time! Bloody awful up the Alpe, don’t think the Trance tunes helped me out, should have gone for some Simon & Garfunkel!

The sofa is very comfy at the minute…

Great Effort everyone, thanks for the company, went quickly and I enjoyed it, after my poor performance last Sunday this felt good, great challenge and nice to have done it, worked well I thought as a social group ride a good way to do these longer rides.

Thanks for organising and good to complete as we have talked about it a few times on the Sunday Hills ride.

Those wheels are great Garry, especially with the tarmac pro.

That was tough…hardest yet…had some dark times on the Alpe. In the jungle my legs died but I was much better once out and on the last leg. Over 4 hours of riding…ouch.

I may have to easy spin tomorrow at some point.

Well done all…you are all animals! Top effort.

Well done all. Great effort from everyone.

I ticked off the 100k thought about following titans Grove round to complete the map then very very quickly decided better of it!

Good to get out ticked off and cheers for the company its never have summoned the enthusiasm for the last leg on my own. Cheers for the wheel to chase on the jungle pees, my legs started to howl about half way up the hill out. Picked up a bit on the climb once over the bridge but they were done. Think I managed about 2wkg average to drag me round to the 100k mark.

Great effort everyone. I really enjoyed that although I think the rest of the day might be a write-off! Those last 10km to get my 100 badge took forever.

Did anyone get the pies at the top of the radio tower?

Ooowwww! Made it to 100km once my ass cramp had gone. Bit frustrated by that, but 100km in under 4:30 will do me.

PR up the epic KOM & radio tower, 2nd fastest up the Alpe (only 5 minutes behind my road to sky PB), no wonder I was goosed at the end.

@joe it is R obbo1234biking on Zwift or put up your user name and I will try and find you. The space is important.

Thanks all for coming along. That wasn’t as bad as I thought. Felt a bit sick last 3 corners of the alpe – the flapjack bites were getting hard to chew by then. Legs didn’t feel to bad. Got a bit uncomfortable on the alpe ascent – should have stood up more.

Anyone interested in a mega pretzel or Uber pretzel attempt on the 28th/29th of November? It is the last weekend for the England lock down finishes so people might be around before we can hopefully get a mince pie in December.

I have 3 routes left to tick of. Trying to get them done this year but not sure it will happen as can’t spend 4 hours on the turbo every weekend.

I’d be up for a mega pretzel. Strangely it doesn’t look too bad.

I’ve got the 3 watopia pretzels, Muir & the mountain, London pretzel, both PRLs and Achterbahn to tick off. Muir & London pretzel are easy enough and Achterbahn shouldn’t be too bad.

Exactly same to tick off as you Robbo plus 2 very short ones in new York. I may be able to join…if my legs come back haha.

Anyone else eating everything in sight????

After this morning Mega Pretzel somehow seems reasonable.

Great ride all. The company makes a long slog so much easier.

I think I had jumped into the big ride before I was ready, I was thinking more of dropping back to do the Quatch Quest…..

@robbo1234biking do you know if there’s a way of checking which of these you’ve ridden? – as I’ve never written it down!

    oopnorth

Phil…if you go as if going to garage to change bike etc, but instead go to the badges tab…it shows all the ones you have done.

I’m not sure I’ll ever tick off the PRL full…

    Nick

@phil56, its a right pain in the arse, you need to go into Zwift, start riding, then pause and go to menu, then check out the badges you have got.

Good ride today, tired now, got a bathroom to paint while listening to Gilles Peterson, then I’m going to get pissed.

I would be up for another long one end of month, I’ve done Mega but would do again and would like to to Uber, so will do either and whatever the consensus is, 28th Saturday seems better as can rest/recover Sunday then 🙂

I am not a fan of Laps so the The Full PRL I’d have to consider carefully if I actually can be motivated to do it when/if that one comes up.

    Badges – I just had a look – there’s a lot of them!!!

Weird thing is I don’t have some I’ve done loads of times – The Volcano Climb for example.

Are there specific things that impact whether you get the badge or not?

    robbo1234biking

@phil56. The printable list is here if you want to tick of manually.

You have to ride it as selected route so select it from the route selection screen and then follow it until you get the badge. So volcano climb starts in a specific place and ends in a specific place.

Being Zwift you can’t do multiple routes in one session so you have to do a route, quit and then log back in to do the next route and some of the routes are super short! It

You just need to select the route Phil when you first open zwift and make sure you go through the end banner. You may have done some of them as part of other routes…not actually specified that particular one.

Looks like you will be badge hunting

    Nick

I’ve done a couple of routes, selected from the route selection screen, and not got the badge, so it can be buggy, which would be bad news on anything like what we did this morning. But I got the badge and levelled up to 24, which was nice.

Zwifthub is really useful for keeping track on things, also lets you search by active world’s, etc.

Well done guys, some good team work going on. Not sure if you could see my messages in game, I couldn’t see anybody else’s so felt a bit out of it but at least I still enjoyed the group draft. For some reason even though robbos invite came up on my phone companion app it never asked for me to join, I second guessed that issue by selecting 4 horseman route from the start menu so I was in there and could see a few riders. As I was faffing you all bolted past me so I had my usual sprint warm up to catch you just before the small Kom.

I really wasn’t sure I would make it around as I felt pretty wiped out all day yesterday after a ride out in the rain all day on Thursday. Tried for an early night but couldn’t sleep very well due to mind racing about COVID business issues and then just as I nodded off my neighbour woke me up with van doors shutting as he was being collected to go somewhere around 4am, restless until I decided to get up at 6.30am feeling absolutely shit. A couple of coffees and one waiting at the mast and the tow upto epic Kom sorted me out.

So happy to make it around, lost everybody after alpe as I couldn’t communicate.Decided then to carry on for the 100km, then thought about 10,000ft climbing, just something I like to try for every once in a while, plodded on the same route for the second lap and then realised that would certainly involve climbing at least the Epic Kom again, after dragging my rapidly Tiring arse over there it still wasn’t enough and I needed to tackle the alpe again.

I started to think I may as well do two laps, crazy **** I know, however my legs thought otherwise and shortly after tasting the opening ramp of the Alpe started to give up. Grabbed the 10,000ft but just couldn’t face the full alpe.

Still a tasty little ride nether the less.

Whoooaaa! Kirky you crazy fella! How the hell did you have all that energy to go again??? Big kudos.

I was wondering why your name wasnt green at the side like everyone else and no we didn’t get your messages. At least you did it and benefited from the draft.

I had a lot of snacks. Lol. Was feeling pretty sickly and wobbly at the end and had what felt like a touch of cramp starting, never really had it since my football days so forgot how it feels. Leg up on the bars for a stretch afterwards and felt my quad pop. Going up the stairs one at time at the moment only able to push off one leg.

Got the shitty mitts, again, reward for the alpe.
